First ‘Minions’ Trailer Milks the ‘Despicable Me’ Cash Cow For All It’s Worth

First ‘Minions’ Trailer Milks the ‘Despicable Me’ Cash Cow For All It’s Worth

Hey look, it’s a cash grab! Despicable Me did very well for itself, putting $543 Million in the bank from it’s worldwide gross. Despicable Me 2 blew the doors off the vault and overflowed the coffers something fierce at $970.7 million worldwide gross. It’s no surprise that the studios involved are very interested in continuing to bring in revenue from this particular stream.

A lot of people think the Minions are the best part of Despicable Me. I’m not quite in that camp. Sure they’re both funny and fun, but I don’t want an entire movie based just on them. But that’s what we are going to get.…

‘Chappie’ Trailer from Neill Blomkamp

‘Chappie’ Trailer from Neill Blomkamp

Chappie will mark Neill Blomkamp’s third outing to the big screen. Given what’s come before, I’m not so sure I can get too excited about this film. I know it’s sacrilegious, but I was just not that impressed with District 9, and Elysium was just a complete and utter train wreck. Again, I’m probably treading on thin ice here with many of you (hey Fizz), but I find very little to like about the man’s filmmaking style, his approach to story-telling, and his cinematographic instincts. It’s just not my style. But I know a lot of people love those things about Blomkamp. Our differences is what…

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Trailer

‘Fast & Furious 7’ Trailer

Well, it’s here. Paul Walker is actually featured quite prominently in the trailer. Given that, if memory serves, he still had a lot of filming left to do when he passed, I’m not sure how that’s going to work out, but he’s certainly in the trailer — a lot.

I don’t want to say too much disparaging about Walker’s last film, and I certainly didn’t hate the previous film as much as I thought I would, but I don’t expect this to be cinematic excellence any more than any of the other films in this franchise. It will be, I’m sure, all about over the top action, crazy premises, and family. The…

2 New Clips from ‘Interstellar’

2 New Clips from ‘Interstellar’

Interstellar releases THIS WEEKEND! Obviously the hype generating machine wants to give us just a little bit more of a taste and really whet our appetites.

In these two clips, there appears to be a dust problem on earth that is affecting people’s lungs, and our astronauts are trying to learn when to talk and when not to. Also honesty is maybe not always the best policy? Over sharing, perhaps?

Is it the weekend yet?

Keira Knightly and Benedict Cumberbatch in Clip from ‘The Imitation Game’

Keira Knightly and Benedict Cumberbatch in Clip from ‘The Imitation Game’

Joan Clarke appears to have impressed Alan Turing in this clip from the upcoming film, The Imitation Game. Turing seems to think rather highly of himself saying that whatever problem he has set forth is impossible to do in the allotted time because he himself takes longer to do it. It would seem Clarke is faster than he is.

I’m looking forward to seeing this on November 21st!

Another Leaked Clip for Marvel’s ‘Age of Ultron’

Another Leaked Clip for Marvel’s ‘Age of Ultron’

It sure seems like Hydra has been particularly troublesome for Marvel lately. They keep leaking stuff. Now they’ve leaked an exclusive clip from Avengers: Age of Ultron that was mean for attendees of their big event only. But a camera was obviously smuggled in and out and now we have the clip. It’s a video of the screen and the quality isn’t great, but you know you want to watch it anyway.

There is definitely a growing rift between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers here. Could this be the prelude to the Civil War story line of Captain America 3?

I do have a quibble with this clip — in fact I see…

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ Final Trailer

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ Final Trailer

The final hours of waiting are upon us. In just over 20 days, we’ll get to lay eyes on the beginning of the end of Katiniss’ struggle against the tyrannical Capitol of Panem. Those of us who have read the books are hoping that Francis Lawrence and his writing team can bring a bit more cohesion and sense to the story. But I have a lot of hope after the great film that was The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The other thing of course is that, while the story is fantasy, it sometimes seems to have haunting familiarity as we look upon our own society. No allegory is ever a one to one match, but…

New ‘Paddington’ Trailer, Now Featuring Ben Whishaw

New ‘Paddington’ Trailer, Now Featuring Ben Whishaw

The upcoming Paddington feature film took a bit of a set-back when Colin Firth left the project. Apparently neither party felt that his voice was working for the bear or the context of the film. But this is apparently a job Q (from James Bond) can handle. Ben Whishaw, who plays Q opposite Daniel Craig’s Bond, is now voicing the fanciful bear in the latest trailer for the film, which is scheduled ot hit U.K. theaters on November 28, and U.S. theaters on January 16 of next year.

In addition to Ben Whishaw, the film stars the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim…

How the ‘Age of Ultron’ Teaser Should Have Ended

How the ‘Age of Ultron’ Teaser Should Have Ended

The HISHE guys don’t seem to put out nearly as many How it Should Have Endeds as they used to, so when they do release something, it’s kind of a special treat.

In this one, prepare to have your childhood ruined, or the childhood of your, well, children with the more recent Disney films.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Extended Teaser Sequence

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Extended Teaser Sequence

This is the extended sequence and trailer that aired (as far as I understand) with Agents of SHIELD last night. The teaser trailer portion that follows the teaser sequence appears to be the same trailer we have already seen — starting right after the Marvel logo in that trailer.

The teaser sequence here is pretty fun. It’s great to see the banter between the Avengers — maybe we can assume that they’ve had some small battle and victory over something. At the very end is when the big bad, or what will be the big bad, shows up. The scene has very much the feel of a Joss Whedon creation and I’m…
