‘Cloud Atlas’ TV Spots and Posters

‘Cloud Atlas’ TV Spots and Posters

Warner Bros. has revealed two more TV spots and 7 epic looking banners for the upcoming Cloud Atlas.

They’re definitely cranking the volume up to 11 on the advertising and expectations. I remain unconvinced that the film will be worthy of the hype. As Joseph pointed out in the comments on my previous Cloud Atlas entry, they are definitely in risky territory trying to sell audiences on a Star Wars scale mythology. It will either work extremely well for them or backfire in a big way. I don’t think there is any in between.

We have even more Skyfall images, which means more Bond, or if you prefer – moreDaniel Craig for all Bond’s fans out there! This time, much better look at both Craig and his gorgeous co-star Berenice Marlohe, and trust me – you don’t want to miss the action!

Sam Mendes‘ movie is the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. Only, this time, Bond will have a completely new job, because, apparently, inSkyfall, his loyalty to M will be tested as her past comes back to haunt her.

As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how…

Interview with ‘Revolution’s’ Elizabeth Mitchell

Interview with ‘Revolution’s’ Elizabeth Mitchell
TV Line

The following contains spoilers from this Monday’s episode of NBC’s Revolution.

In just its second episode, NBC’s Revolution this Monday night answered a huge question that was on many a fan’s mind: Why would you hire the always awesome Elizabeth Mitchell to appear only in flashbacks?

Answer: You don’t, because Charlie’s mother, Rachel Matheson, is in fact alive and well. Or at least alive, based on a reveal that capped Week 2 of the adventure drama.

And yet with that not-entirely-surprising twist comes new questions, such as: Where and for how long has Rachel been held captive? What…

The Avengers — Review

4.5 of 5 stars
The Avengers

Finally, the film is here on DVD, Blu-ray, iTunes, and more, giving me an excuse to review it! The year is not over yet and it is possible that this could change, but I doubt it — I think it’s safe to say that The Avengers will be my favorite film this year. Indeed, Avengers is currently my favorite super-hero movie, taking away my personal top spot from Batman Begins. I admit that perhaps I have a little bias working in favor of the film as I have been a fan of Whedon’s work since before he was the cool new filmmaker on the block, but I like to think that all the same, my opinion…

Michael Westen “Back from the Dead”

Michael Westen “Back from the Dead”
TV Line

When Season 6 left off, Michael & Co. had trekked to Panama to track Tyler Grey, the sniper who’d been hired to kill Nate Westen — only to realize, too late, that they’d all been led by Tom Card into a trap. Amazingly, and in one of the series’ most explode-y sequences ever, Michael, Sam, Jesse, Fi and Tyler survived Card’s attempt to do ‘em all in with an F-18′s bombing run.

Card, though, doesn’t know they escaped, and Michael’s living, breathing status may give him the upper hand with his fallen mentor and finding out why good people still want him dead.

One of TVs best shows,…

‘Fire with Fire’

‘Fire with Fire’
Entertainment Weekly

Duhamel, as firefighter Jeremy Coleman, is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and sees a hulking psychopath – D’Onofrio – shoot and kill someone in a convenience store. Duhamel picks the brute out of a police lineup, and a classic game of cat-and-mouse ensues. He goes into witness protection, his identity is erased, he becomes “a ghost,” and Rosario Dawson shows him how to shoot a big big gun.

This looks like it could be interesting. On the other hand, this is a straight-to-DVD movie so I’m not sure what that says about it. Still, I may check it out sometime.

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ — First True Gamer Movie

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ — First True Gamer Movie
Movie Line

Everyone is either looking forward to Wreck-It Ralph or still refers to video games as “those beeping boximacallits.”  There are no other options. Gaming movies have a bad reputation, which is weird, because, despite what you may have heard and read, they have yet to materialize. We’ve seen dozens of action movies that share the titles of video games and little else, and run from reprehensible to ridiculously profitable — sometimes in the same series. We’ve also watched feature-length advertisements for video games that we’ve paid to see in hopes that there might be a movie in there…

‘Cloud Atlas’ TV Spot, IMAX Release

‘Cloud Atlas’ TV Spot, IMAX Release

Cloud Atlas has sounded like a huge and ambitious undertaking from the first time I heard about it, and now it looks like it will be getting the big screen IMAX treatment.

The film was not originally intended for IMAX release and so was shot on standard 35 mm film. The IMAX website notes that it has been digitally remastered into the IMAX format. IMAX looked pretty good on the much older Raiders of the Lost Ark so I’m guessing this film will still look awesome on IMAX even though it was only shot on 35.

Warner Bros. has also released a new TV spot which shows a lot less of the of the…

Samuel Jackson Summer Flop Loses $12 Million

Samuel Jackson Summer Flop Loses $12 Million

Samuel Jackson and Tom Wilkinson should make for an entertaining movie, wouldn’t you agree? I thought so when I saw that Redbox has a new DVD release starring these two in a crime/action film.

The description of The Samaritan from Rotten Tomatoes:

After twenty‐five years in prison, Foley (Samuel L. Jackson) is finished with the grifter’s life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris (Ruth Negga), the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan (Luke Kirby), the son of his former partner, has an ingenious plan and he wants…
