The Stars Sing in Making of Les Misérables Video

The Stars Sing in Making of Les Misérables Video

“I thought it was an amazing opportunity to do something genuinely groundbreaking,” said director Tom Hooper. If this featurette is any indication, I believe the filmmaker hit the mark. It must have been incredibly daunting, but it would appear to excel greatly as the cast lived up to the demands of the production.

Les Misérables as Hooper would have it is heavenly based after the musical adaptation that’s been on tour for decades. It is the longest-standing broadway musical to date, and anyone that appreciates musicals that has seen it can tell you why. The story line is rich, the…

Joss Whedon was reluctant to Direct ‘Avengers 2’

He’s also back to work prepping for Avengers 2, despite admitting multiple times that the pace of the first Avengers movie almost killed him.

Why jump back into the fire understanding one can only cheat death so many times? Well, it goes back to storytelling.

“There’s a business aspect to it and I would be disingenuous not to say that, but the question for me is, Do I have another story to tell about these people? So we worked on the business side of it and I didn’t think it was going to happen—I was like ‘I’m never going to do this again.’ But once they worked on the business aspect…

A Great Mini Series

“Yet another kingdom falls to your glory. Is there no end to your power?” Join TJ and Joseph this week for a review of ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ as they discuss it’s high and low points, as they delve into their likes and dislikes, and as they discuss why TJ loved this film while Joseph didn’t love it so much. They discuss the portrayal of beauty and the contrast between the beautiful but evil queen played by widely haled beauty Charlize Theron, and Snow White played by Kristen Stewart who is by no means ugly, but not considered the beauty that Charlize is and that perhaps the message is beauty is more than skin deep. They also discuss the beauty of the film itself, aspects of The Huntsman’s character they enjoyed and much more. Conversation is also had about TJ’s latest article about the ‘Bones’ Season 8 premiere, TV shows and why we love to talk write about them on MovieByte, and how disconnected film critics can be from audiences at times.

‘Les Misérables’ Moves to Christmas Day Opening
Slash Film

Universal has seemingly decided that the new film adaptation of Les Miserables, starring Hugh JackmanRussell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway and directed by Tom Hooper (The Kings Speech), makes a good Christmas present. (A present for Universal, at least.) The film has been pushed back to a December 25 opening.

Joseph recently took a look at the ‘Les Mis’ trailer, be sure to check that out as well.

I want to see this film, but I doubt I’ll see it on Christmas Day, that’s family time.

‘Bones’ Season 8 Premiere Recap and Mini Review

‘Bones’ Season 8 Premiere Recap and Mini Review

Bones returned Monday night with the premiere of season 8. As a cable cutter, I could not have watched it until Tuesday via Hulu (or any other non-broadcast means). As it was, I was unable to watch it on Tuesday, catching it on Hulu via my Apple TV last night instead.

The season 8 premiere picks up three months after Brennan (Bones) took off with her dad and daughter Christine because she was suspected of murder due to implanted evidence by serial killer and super computer wizard genius — who can do things with computers not even possible in the real world - Christopher Pelant.

Snow White and the Huntsman — Review

4 of 5 stars
Snow White and the Huntsman

“By fairest blood was it done, and only by fairest blood can it be undone.”

This is not the Disney Snow White you may remember from your childhood. Snow White and the Huntsman straddles a much more fine line between gritty realism and a fantastical, magical world of evil queens, magic, dwarves, trolls and more. This rendition of Snow White is ultimately a tale of good versus evil. There is a natural order to things, and Snow White understands and uses that order to great effect. In fact there is quite an allegorical nature to this film. At the beginning, evil appears to be triumphing (the…

“There’s certainly talk of it and I know there’s a script being played around with, but Downey’s a busy boy and I’m a busy boy so we’ll see,” he said. “But we want to [do another one]. We’re a very happy team and we have a lot of fun and we also think there’s still a lot of legs in the duo.”
