Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo

Christopher Nolan on Batman ‘Man of Steel’ Cameo
Movie Line

Among the filmmakers who turned up to praise the Les Misérables star at the Museum of the Moving Image’s salute to Jackman in lower Manhattan on Tuesday night was The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan who grew an enormous Cheshire-Cat grin when I asked him if the Superman reboot he is producing, Man of Steel, would see a cameo by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, or any actor, as Batman, and if he had any objections to a cameo as a continuity move to tie the Supes movie to the 2015 Justice League movie.

“I can’t talk about that.  You know that,” Nolan said cheerily. I didn’t know that,…

‘The Hobbit’ Str8voices

I don’t know anything at all about this group, but this is just so much pure awesome that I had to share it with you all! I mean, so much awesome! And I do love that tune from the upcoming film The Hobbit, it’s very catchy and very well done.

If for nothing else at all, I’m looking forward to the film for the music.

Batman (1989) — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Batman (1989)

Tim Burton’s Batman is a strange animal: too dark to be enjoyed as pure camp, and too absurd to be viewed as serious entertainment.

Discarding the outright goofiness of 1960s TV series, Burton takes a grimmer, gloomier approach to the Batman mythos. The result is both fantastically stylish and frustratingly hollow: a celebration of style over substance that dazzles the eye without ever engaging the mind or heart.

The Super

Batman won an Oscar for Art Direction & Set Decoration, and it’s not hard to see why. The elaborate gothic-industrial design of Gotham City is slick and atmospheric…

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer 2

‘Man of Steel’ Trailer 2

Here it is! Trailer 2 for Man of Steel.

While I’m much happier with this music in that it’s not a direct lift from Lord of the Ring (how strange was that?), let’s just say that I am still really missing John Williams magnificent Superman theme. In fact, I had to go to iTunes and give it a listen after seeing the Man of Steel, but not hearing his music.

In fact, this entire trailer is not all that impressive to me.

But still, I’ll definitely be interested to see what they are doing with this film.

Today Star Trek Into Darkness producer/director JJ Abrams invited the press (including TrekMovie) to visit Bad Robot HQ in Santa Monica, CA. While there the media could chat with folks behind and in front of the camera as well as get a closer look at elements of the movie. During the day TrekMovie picked up on a number of new character and story tidbits. Find out what’s new below but beware of spoilers.

For those who aren’t big fans of Star Trek, bear with me. There’s been a lot of fun news about the upcoming film in the last couple of days.

Alice Eve’s ‘Star Trek’ Character Revealed

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

While the movie won’t hit theaters until May, members of the press were treated to a special screening of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel tonight at Bad Robot.

...

During the screening, those fans were proven to be wrong as Eve’s character was revealed to be none other than Carol Marcus, the (future) mother of Kirk’s son David (as revealed in Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan).

Well that is a little surprising to me. I don’t think it was ever explicitly stated, but certainly implied that Carol Marcus was never in Starfleet. But I guess JJ can do what he wants…

New ‘Lone Ranger’ Trailer

New ‘Lone Ranger’ Trailer

I’m still not convinced this movie is going to be any good. But I’ll definitely see it just for the Johnny Depp entertainment value.

Still, at this point, I’m not expecting to enjoy much else about the film.

Disney wants Alice to return to Wonderland.

Mouse House stalwart Linda Woolverton is penning a sequel to Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” the 2010 hit that starred Mia Wasikowska as Alice and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. The 3D film went on to earn $1 billion worldwide and scored Oscars for art direction and costume design.

Woolverton has a long history with Disney, having previously written the studio’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey,” and “Maleficent,” and contributed to toons “Mulan” and “Aladdin.” Sequel’s plot details are…

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Sequel Casting

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Sequel Casting
ComingSoon.net

Casting for The Amazing Spider-Man sequel has been pretty stellar so far. Shailene Woodley was added as Mary Jane Watson, followed by Jamie Foxx as Electro and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. Now, in an unexpected announcement, Martin Sheen has confirmed that he will return as Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben.

Not surprising given that there will likely be flashbacks, or things of like nature.

I still hate the first Amazing Spider-Man film and was hoping they wouldn’t continue down this road. Sigh.

Tonight I had the honor to be invited to a special preview presentation of the opening 9-minute prologue from Star Trek Into Darkness which will be showing at IMAX 3D screenings of the Hobbit next weekend.
