‘The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug’ First Look Clip

‘The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug’ First Look Clip

OH MY GOODNESS YOU’LL WANT TO SEE THIS!!!!11!! It’s Gandalf and Radagast wondering around in a dark cave!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH.

But seriously it’s kind of cool to see the first clip, I guess. Personally, when I found this I was hoping for a clip of Martin Freeman’s Bilbo with the Ring or something. This is sort of… meh. But it’s something, and that’s… something, I guess.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens on December 13, 2013.

The Wolverine - Full Trailers

The Wolverine - Full Trailers

Alright, so after all the teasing, the full trailer is here. Actually two of them — an international trailer and a domestic trailer. Considering that The Wolverine premieres on July 26, the first trailers seem like they are coming sort of late to the party. As comparison, both Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 coming out this summer debuted trailers last year.

But in any event, here are the trailers. I was only able to find the domestic trailer on Apple Trailers which has a terrible embed experience, Click through to see it in HD and the like. The International trailer is from YouTube and looks…

Netflix Developing New Sci-Fi Series

Netflix Developing New Sci-Fi Series
Richard Lawler - Engadget

Continuing its quest to sate subscribers’ appetites with a flow of original content, Netflix has announced a new original series, Sense8. Due in late 2014, it’s being developed by the Wachowskis of The MatrixV for VendettaCloud Atlas and Speed Racer fame, as well as J. Michael Straczynski, creator of Babylon 5. Details are thin, but the press release promises a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted with a ten episode run for its first season.

The Wachowskis, eh? Given the disaster that was Cloud Atlas I can’t say I have much hope for this sesries. But again, given…

MovieByte Podcast #37 Live Broadcast

We have another edition of the fun MovieByte Podcast planned for you this evening at 6:30 Central Time.

TJ and I are discussing Olympus Has Fallen, the hottest action flick starring Gerard Butler (King Leonidas, Clyde Shelton), Morgan Freeman (God, another U.S. president) and Aaron Eckhart (Two-Face, Rethrick). A little about this film:

When the White House (Secret Service Code: “Olympus”) is captured by a terrorist mastermind and the President is kidnapped, disgraced former presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team…

‘Atlas Shrugged’ Part 3

‘Atlas Shrugged’ Part 3
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

It’s been officially announced that “Atlas Shrugged Part 3” will be written by Duncan Scott (who helmed part two, and edited and produced Rand’s film “We The Living”) and Brian O’Toole, and open in 150 markets in summer 2014. Thus far, parts one and two cost between $10-20 million to make each, but only collectively brought in $8 million at the box office, though apparently home video has shown the movie has some life.

Who is John Galt anyway? And I wonder if they are going to entirely recast this film like they did the last one. It’s extremely off-putting. I didn’t mind the cast of the…

‘Oblivion’ Featurette: Sky Tower

‘Oblivion’ Featurette: Sky Tower

Man I am really loving this. The set up in the clouds was not shot on green or blue screen but they used real footage and practical effects. YES! This is the way to do it people! This will give the film so much more a sense of reality, and it will also improve the acting. I don’t care how good an actor is, if he’s acting in front of a green or blue screen, it’s hard to “act” like something is there that’s not there.

It really looks beautiful from here. I can’t wait to see it on the big screen. It’s going to be awesome.

I do so hope they aren’t raising my expectations of this film too…

Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Because Iron Man is awesome and he deserves a better film than the travesty that was Iron Man 2. But I think that was just a hiccup in the machine that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I think we’re in smooth sailing territory now. I sure hope so. I want this to be a good film.

And this look good to me. Also, can that guy jump into that Iron Man suit or what? It’s like become a thing with Stark, jumping from heights and getting suited up in the air.

‘Independence Day’ Sequel(s)

‘Independence Day’ Sequel(s)
Adam Markovitz - Entertainment Weekly

It’s been almost almost 17 years since aliens destroyed the White House and the Empire State Building in Roland Emmerich’s 1996 blockbuster Independence Day. But the world’s monuments aren’t safe yet. Emmerich, whose action-packed White House Down hits theaters June 28, says he plans to wreak a new round of havoc in two sequels – ID Forever Part 1 and ID Forever Part II. The films take place 20 years after the original, when a distress call sent by the first wave of aliens finally brings reinforcements to Earth. ”The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back,” explains the…

‘The Wolverine’ 20 Second Teaser

‘The Wolverine’ 20 Second Teaser

First there was the Vine teaser video, now there’s a 20 second teaser. All this leading up to the real trailer scheduled to drop sometime this week. That marketing team is milking this for all it’s worth.

Personally, I want to get back to the main X-Men universe (actually, what I really want to do is pretend X-Men: The Last Stand never happened and re-make it, but that will never happen). But still, this could be fun.
