‘Transcendence’ Featurette

‘Transcendence’ Featurette

This may be a typical featurette without a whole lot of new or interesting information, but I’m intrigued with the film all the same and found it worth watching.

The film is directed by Wally Pfister and, for those who don’t know, he was Christopher Nolan’s cinematographer on The Dark Knight trilogy. That alone should interest you in my opinion. But if that alone doesn’t do it, watch the featurette and tell me you are not intrigued.

Will Samuel L. Jackson Return for ‘Incredibles 2’?

Will Samuel L. Jackson Return for ‘Incredibles 2’?
Garth Franklin — Dark Horizons

“Every time I run into Brad, he always tells me Frozone is part of what’s going on, so I have to believe that. I guess they could be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what’s already there.”

“Where’s my super suit?”

I sure hope he’s in it. His role may have been small in The Incredibles but I loved Frozone. And Samuel L. Jackson is always a great addition to almost any film.

The Apes are Scary in TV Second Spot for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The Apes are Scary in TV Second Spot for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Still not sure I care about this one really. I’m also not sure what I need to have already watched in the Planet of the Apes movie franchise in order for this film to work (if anything). I think someone told me I only need to see the James Franco film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I’ve put it in my Netflix queue but I’m not all that excited about it.

This film seems to take place ten years after Rise:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but…

‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff Will Be a Trilogy

‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff Will Be a Trilogy
Amber Ray — Entertainment Weekly

The Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released by Warner Bros. as a trilogy of “megamovies,” The New York Times reports in its profile on the studio’s CEO, Kevin Tsujihara. Based on the Hogwarts textbook written by Potter author J.K. Rowling, the new franchise is an extension of her extraordinarily realized wizarding world. The films will follow magizoologist Newt Scamander and start in New York approximately seven decades before Harry Potter’s own adventures.

What can Newt Scamander be getting up to that is going to take up three films? I call foul! They…

‘Into the Storm’ Trailer

‘Into the Storm’ Trailer

Well here’s one I haven’t heard of before. It looks pretty ludricous to me and I have no idea what the story motiviating it is and/or why I am interested. But here it is anyway.

It stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Nathan Kress, Jon Reep and Jeremy Sumpter.

The Rains Came Down and the Floods Came Up — What To See This Weekend

The Rains Came Down and the Floods Came Up — What To See This Weekend

Things might be getting a little wet this weekend for Noah and his family — and a whole lot of animals (which entered two by two), but there “may” be better things to see. Then again, there may not be. I’m just letting my pessimism come through. But surely it can’t be too bad, right? A whole lot of atheists making a film about a story they do not believe happened and from a sacred text they do not revere. What could possibly go wrong?

New This Weekend

Noah — PG-13

I’ve been hearing a lot of things about this film both good and bad. Darren Aronofsky has apparently talked about the…

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer

I was not into the Turtles as a kid (insert gasps of shock and horror here) so it is really hard for me to have an informed opinion on this matter. I mean, I watched the animated show sometimes, and my best friend had the TMNT Nintendo game. But I just wasn’t into those crazy mutant turtles.

But a lot of people are. Those in my age group on down through their 20s or so tend to like those mutant amphibians, so obviously, a gritty movie reboot is called for. Knowing Michael Bay is involved does not help my opinion AT ALL, but at least he’s not directing so I’ll try to give it a chance.

The ‘Jupiter Ascending’ Trailer Looks AWESOME!

The ‘Jupiter Ascending’ Trailer Looks AWESOME!

Somehow I missed the first trailer for this film, but this second trailer looks quite amazing. Of course I thought there was a chance that the Wachowskis previous film, Cloud Atlas was going to be good too and it was instead quite terrible. But there is an entirely different vibe to this film. This one just feels like an epic, sci-fi adventure — and it looks like a doggone good one at that.

And you know what else is refreshing about this film? As far as I know it is not based on anything — it’s an original screen play. In a world filled with nothing but sequels and prequels that is such a…

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Trailer

‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Trailer

I sure do love a good Tom Cruise Sci-Fi flick, and this appears to be one of the good ones — at least as far as I can tell thus far. It is not necessarily an original concept, but it looks to be well executed. And Emily Blunt is always a plus too.

The film arrives in theaters June 4.
