There’s not a trick answer to this. When Warner Bros. announced last week that Jesse Eisenberg had been hired to play Lex Luthor in the sequel to last year’s “Man Of Steel,” that is correct. He is playing Lex Luthor. But when they say that, it’s still not a definitive explanation of what you’re going to see when that film arrives in theaters on the now-scheduled date of May , 2016. Which Lex Luthor is he going to play? A movie based on Lego? Sheesh, how crass can Hollywood get? Well, time to put that cynicism away because the reviews are in, and for the most part, “The Lego Movie” defies expectations. Fun, clever and inventive, Phil Lordand Chris Miller’s film is receiving great notices, with our own take on the movie calling it, “the first great studio film of 2014, one that fills you with childlike wonder and awe, no matter your age.” So, shocker, a sequel is already in the works.

When “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” returns from its mini-hiatus on Feb. 4, expect for the series to go “full throttle” as it airs its final nine episodes of Season 1. According to showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, the focus of the show gets a lot tighter for the back half of the series’ first season.

Hahahahaha, I’m absolutely loving the marketing campaign for Muppets Most Wanted. That’s the first line for the Game Day Extended spot — said completely dead pan by the deep voiced trailer narrator. It couldn’t be more perfect for a Muppets movie! I love a good marketing campaign and I think this may actually get me into Muppets. I’ve got a couple of the movies in my Netflix queue so I can get caught up.

The Disney Afternoon classic animated series is headed to the big screen in a film being described as an “origin story” for the popular crime-fighting critters. Much like “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and the recent “Smurfs” movies, the upcoming “Rescue Rangers” movie will feature CG characters in a live action world, not 2D animation like the old cartoon.
