The Science Oven

The Science Oven

Join TJ, Chad, and Fizz for the ultimate Microsoft Windows Fail! Well, okay, that did happen to poor Chad, but the show must go on! It’s sad, but to start things off, the trio discuss the death of Philip Seymore Hoffman. It’s a downer, but it would have seemed wrong not to address it. Then they briefly find out if Chad and TJ did okay discussing Fizz’s top 13 films of 2013. Follwed by a good discussion on the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. Given TJ’s supreme disdain for ‘Man of Steel’, you wouldn’t think he would have so much to say about it but he does, as do Chad and Fizz. Also in question and discussion, has J.K. Rowling lost her mind? Probably. Then Chad and Fizz get to talk about ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ trailer. And don’t miss out on the spirited discussion of David O. Russell’s latest film, ‘American Hustle’.

Bryan Singer Talks about ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Superman Returns’

Bryan Singer Talks about ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Superman Returns’
Angie Han - /Film

In a recent interview, the filmmaker confirmed that Cavill had been up for the led in 2006′s Superman Returns before Brandon Routh won the part. He also revealed thatMan of Steel was the title he’d been considering for his planned sequel, which would have featured the villain Darkseid.

Say what you will about Superman Returns, I still think it is the second best Superman film made up to this point and I really wish that Singer’s sequel which he wanted to call Man of Steel was the Man of Steel we had rather than that awful mess Zack Snyder delivered to us. But alas, it was not meant to… Read The Rest

Who is Jesse Eisenberg Really Playing in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?

Who is Jesse Eisenberg Really Playing in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?
Drew McWeeny – HitFix

There’s not a trick answer to this. When Warner Bros. announced last week that Jesse Eisenberg had been hired to play Lex Luthor in the sequel to last year’s “Man Of Steel,” that is correct. He is playing Lex Luthor. But when they say that, it’s still not a definitive explanation of what you’re going to see when that film arrives in theaters on the now-scheduled date of May , 2016. Which Lex Luthor is he going to play? For comic book fans, there are many possible answers to that question, and for fans of the various live-action and animated interpretations, there are even more possibilities…

‘The Lego Movie’ Sequel Already in the Works

‘The Lego Movie’ Sequel Already in the Works
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

A movie based on Lego? Sheesh, how crass can Hollywood get? Well, time to put that cynicism away because the reviews are in, and for the most part, “The Lego Movie” defies expectations. Fun, clever and inventive, Phil Lordand Chris Miller’s film is receiving great notices, with our own take on the movie calling it, “the first great studio film of 2014, one that fills you with childlike wonder and awe, no matter your age.” So, shocker, a sequel is already in the works.

I’m not really too surprised. This time of year we’re in a sort of famine for good movies and this one certainly looks to…

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 1 — What to Look Forward To

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 1 — What to Look Forward To
Terri Schwartz — Zap2It

When “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” returns from its mini-hiatus on Feb. 4, expect for the series to go “full throttle” as it airs its final nine episodes of Season 1. According to showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, the focus of the show gets a lot tighter for the back half of the series’ first season.

Zap2it recently visited the set of “Agents of SHIELD” and spoke to the two showrunners as well as a number of the cast members about what’s in store. Here’s some teases about what’s coming up for the end of Season 1 and beyond.

I don’t care what anyone says, I love this show. And…

‘Muppets Most Wanted’ Game Day Spot

‘Muppets Most Wanted’ Game Day Spot

“Critics across the Internet have at least seen some of the commercials for Muppets Most Wanted,”

Hahahahaha, I’m absolutely loving the marketing campaign for Muppets Most Wanted. That’s the first line for the Game Day Extended spot — said completely dead pan by the deep voiced trailer narrator. It couldn’t be more perfect for a Muppets movie! I love a good marketing campaign and I think this may actually get me into Muppets. I’ve got a couple of the movies in my Netflix queue so I can get caught up.

‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Superbowl Ad and Long-form Trailer

‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Superbowl Ad and Long-form Trailer

Chad tells me that he looks forward to reading any of my Spider-Man related articles just so he can see if I’ve found new and creative ways to express my hatred of the new series. I’ll try not to disappoint.

In this latest round of trailers, this new Spider-Man series continues to feel like a parody of a good Spider-Man series. We had a decent Spider-Man series with Tobey Maguire, but this Andrew Garfield Spider-Man just feels completely off. Some have lauded it as being closer to the feel of the comics, but I think we have proven over the years that a straight adaptation from comic book to…

‘Mocking Jay’ Parts 1 & 2 Release Dates Won’t be Affected

‘Mocking Jay’ Parts 1 & 2 Release Dates Won’t be Affected
Edward Davis — The Playlist

With your empathies obviously in the right place, the question you might be asking yourself right now is: “Wait,Philip Seymour Hoffman was shooting ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2’ as Plutarch Heavensbee recently. Will the movie be OK?”

The answer is: yes. Lionsgate, perhaps trying to assuage concerns about their multi-million dollar franchise ($1.5 billion grossed thus far worldwide), bravely broached queries almost instantly this afternoon by releasing a statement that said Hoffman had “substantially completed [work] on ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ and he had seven days…

Live Action ‘Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ In Production

Live Action ‘Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ In Production
Inside the Magic

There’s no case too big, no case too small. When you need help just call: Ch-ch-ch Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers!

The Disney Afternoon classic animated series is headed to the big screen in a film being described as an “origin story” for the popular crime-fighting critters. Much like “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and the recent “Smurfs” movies, the upcoming “Rescue Rangers” movie will feature CG characters in a live action world, not 2D animation like the old cartoon.

I remember watching this as a kid though I don’t remember a whole lot about it so maybe I’m not qualified to give my opinioin…

J.K. Rowling Has Lost Her Mind, Regrets Hermione and Ron Pairing

J.K. Rowling Has Lost Her Mind, Regrets Hermione and Ron Pairing
Andrew Sims — Hypable

In a new interview conducted by Emma Watson, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling drops a bombshell: She’s not so sure she should have put Ron and Hermione together.

The shocking revelation came in the new issue of Wonderland, of which Watson is a guest editor this month. The comments were obtained by The Sunday Times.

Rowling says that she should have put Hermione and Harry together in the Harry Potter series instead of Hermione and Ron, according to the publication’s headline, which reads, “JK admits Hermione should have wed Harry.”

Okay, now she’s just messing with us. Harry and Hermione…
