‘Last Days on Mars’ Trailer

‘Last Days on Mars’ Trailer

I’m not going to pretend that this looks like it will actually be good, but there is something intriguing about it. But then, I’m a bit of a sucker for sci-fi and/or space films. This film looks like it has elements of both a thriller, and a horror film, which “could” be okay.

But as I say I’m not holding my breath. For one thing, it’s going straight to VOD on Halloween and does not hit theaters until December 6th, and that at a limited release. You’d think if the film were any good they’d go for a full theatrical release.

Here’s the trailer:

Jonathan Rhys Myers on the ‘Star Wars’ Casting Chatter

Jonathan Rhys Myers on the ‘Star Wars’ Casting Chatter
Josh Rottenberg - Entertainment Weekly

Star Wars rumors are a little like the Force: They surround and penetrate us. They bind the nerd galaxy together.

With director J.J. Abrams ramping up to begin production early next year on Star Wars Episode VII, lately those rumors have focused on possible casting, and one of the names that’s popped up most often has been that of Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers. But the 36-year-old actor — who has starred in films like Velvet Goldmine and Match Point and played Henry VIII on Showtime’s The Tudors — brushes off the reports, telling EW that, for the moment at least, the Star…

‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Predicted to Reach $950 Million

‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Predicted to Reach $950 Million
Dave McNary - Variety

Lionsgate’s upcoming “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is projected to gross $950 million in worldwide box office, according to a new Wall Street analyst’s report.

Alan Gould of Evercore predicted that the film, starring Jennifer Lawrence, will gross $375 million domestically and another $575 million internationally. Last year’s “The Hunger Games” grossed $408 million in the U.S. and another $283 million overseas.

I don’t know how they measure these sorts of things or predict them or whatever before hand, but if this does happen, I think it will be a good thing. I expect this film to be a…

The ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Website

The ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Website
AgentsOfShield.com

It’s a new world. Nothing has been the same since the Battle of New York. These are the agents that work the cases that S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t classified. When you’re dealing with the strange and the mysterious, you need a hand-picked team that can get the job done no matter the circumstances. Here you can browse and share files on our team of agents.

The new, official Agents of SHIELD website. I haven’t had a chance to comb through it all, but there appears to be some good stuff here. Do note though, that they have committed the cardinal sin of auto-playing music when you visit the site.…

Cumberbatch’s Safety In Question in ‘The Fifth Estate’ Clip

Cumberbatch’s Safety In Question in ‘The Fifth Estate’ Clip

Everything we’ve seen up to this point from The Fifth Estate shows a cool and confident hero of a man in Julian Assange. In this clip though, he looks a little more worried. And it appears with good reason. It seems the CIA and the KGB are closing in on Assange. David Thewlis (Remus Lupin from the Harry Potter films) is here to let Assange know of the danger.

Check it out:

And in this clip, Cumberbatch/Assange doesn’t seem too happy with the idea of selling out:

This film has the potential to be really good and so I’m going to hope for the best.

Black Widow and Captain America?

Black Widow and Captain America?
SuperHeroHype

This summer at the San Diego Comic-Con Scarlett, Johansson (a.k.a. Black Widow, a.k.a. the sexiest Avenger) said that she and Captain America (Chris Evans) will form “something of an intimate friendship” in next year’s sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

After revealing spy photos showed the two characters lip locking on set, we went back and reviewed 2012’s The Avengers to find any hints of this burgeoning relationship between two war vets. Turns out the characters do shoot a couple of admiring glances at each other, Black Widow during his first tour of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Helicarrier…

Justin Bieber to be in ‘Man of Steel’? PLEASE NO!

Justin Bieber to be in ‘Man of Steel’? PLEASE NO!
Russ Fischer - /Film

If you hated the news of Ben Affleck being cast in Zack Snyder‘s sequel to Man of Steel, you’ll probably blow a gasket for real with this item. Justin Bieber added a new photo to his Instagram feed tonight, in which he shows off his own copy of the Batman vs. Superman script — or a fairly well-made fake that looks like it bears his name. Making things weirder, his only caption was “#robin ??”

If Justin Bieber is in this film in any way, I believe I will have to boycott. UGH. Please let this not be true!

Julianne Moore Confirmed For ‘The Hunger Games’

Julianne Moore Confirmed For ‘The Hunger Games’
ComingSoon.net

Lionsgate today confirmed an earlier rumor that four-time Academy Award® nominee Julianne Moore (Boogie NightsThe HoursThe End of the AffairFar From Heaven) has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 as President Alma Coin, the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol.

I’ve mentioned before that she was at least in the running to play the role of President Coin. While I’m not a huge fan or anything and think that occasionally she’s not such a great actress, I actually can’t think of anyone better for this particular role.…

“Tired, Weary” Batman

“Tired, Weary” Batman
Edward Davis - The Playlist

Yesterday Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara told the suits at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference that Batman will be “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile.”

It’s only a nugget of information, but it essentially confirms once more that WB, Snyder and writer David Goyer are taking elements of “The Dark Knight Returns” graphic novel and transposing it on to this modern story. In “The Dark Knight Returns,” which takes place in a future alternate universe (i.e. it’s not what will happen to Batman eventually) Batman comes out…

‘Star Wars’ Spinnoff Films Will Be Origin Stories

‘Star Wars’ Spinnoff Films Will Be Origin Stories
Germain Lussier - /Film

Fans have spent so much time focusing on what’s going to happen with J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII, we’ve all but ignored the 2016 Star Wars film. Not Episode VIII mind you — that’ll likely be in 2017. In 2016, we’ll get a Star Wars spinoff movie, written and produced by either Lawrence Kasdan or Simon Kinberg. Each writer is working on a film that’ll focus on a specific Star Wars character; we’ve known these spin-off movies are meant to be released between episodes of the new trilogy. Possible characters rumored for these films are Yoda, Han Solo or Boba Fett.

If that’s true though,…
