Netflix Developing New Sci-Fi Series
Richard Lawler - Engadget

Continuing its quest to sate subscribers’ appetites with a flow of original content, Netflix has announced a new original series, Sense8. Due in late 2014, it’s being developed by the Wachowskis of The MatrixV for VendettaCloud Atlas and Speed Racer fame, as well as J. Michael Straczynski, creator of Babylon 5. Details are thin, but the press release promises a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted with a ten episode run for its first season.

The Wachowskis, eh? Given the disaster that was Cloud Atlas I can’t say I have much hope for this sesries. But again, given…

‘Atlas Shrugged’ Part 3

‘Atlas Shrugged’ Part 3
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

It’s been officially announced that “Atlas Shrugged Part 3” will be written by Duncan Scott (who helmed part two, and edited and produced Rand’s film “We The Living”) and Brian O’Toole, and open in 150 markets in summer 2014. Thus far, parts one and two cost between $10-20 million to make each, but only collectively brought in $8 million at the box office, though apparently home video has shown the movie has some life.

Who is John Galt anyway? And I wonder if they are going to entirely recast this film like they did the last one. It’s extremely off-putting. I didn’t mind the cast of the…

‘Oblivion’ Featurette: Sky Tower

‘Oblivion’ Featurette: Sky Tower

Man I am really loving this. The set up in the clouds was not shot on green or blue screen but they used real footage and practical effects. YES! This is the way to do it people! This will give the film so much more a sense of reality, and it will also improve the acting. I don’t care how good an actor is, if he’s acting in front of a green or blue screen, it’s hard to “act” like something is there that’s not there.

It really looks beautiful from here. I can’t wait to see it on the big screen. It’s going to be awesome.

I do so hope they aren’t raising my expectations of this film too…

Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Another ‘Iron Man 3’ TV Spot

Because Iron Man is awesome and he deserves a better film than the travesty that was Iron Man 2. But I think that was just a hiccup in the machine that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I think we’re in smooth sailing territory now. I sure hope so. I want this to be a good film.

And this look good to me. Also, can that guy jump into that Iron Man suit or what? It’s like become a thing with Stark, jumping from heights and getting suited up in the air.

‘Independence Day’ Sequel(s)

‘Independence Day’ Sequel(s)
Adam Markovitz - Entertainment Weekly

It’s been almost almost 17 years since aliens destroyed the White House and the Empire State Building in Roland Emmerich’s 1996 blockbuster Independence Day. But the world’s monuments aren’t safe yet. Emmerich, whose action-packed White House Down hits theaters June 28, says he plans to wreak a new round of havoc in two sequels – ID Forever Part 1 and ID Forever Part II. The films take place 20 years after the original, when a distress call sent by the first wave of aliens finally brings reinforcements to Earth. ”The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back,” explains the…

‘The Wolverine’ 20 Second Teaser

‘The Wolverine’ 20 Second Teaser

First there was the Vine teaser video, now there’s a 20 second teaser. All this leading up to the real trailer scheduled to drop sometime this week. That marketing team is milking this for all it’s worth.

Personally, I want to get back to the main X-Men universe (actually, what I really want to do is pretend X-Men: The Last Stand never happened and re-make it, but that will never happen). But still, this could be fun.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ News

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ News
Disney Film Casting

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will center on Steve Rogers/Captain America’s relationship with sidekick Bucky, who fell to his apparent death in “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He returns as the brainwashed assassin Winter Soldier. This sequel will be a completely different genre in that it will be a political-thriller themed film, just as the first film was a 1940s World War II themed film. Sam Wilson/Falcon is introduced as a central character that is the first African American superhero. Steve Rogers finds himself with a new love interest in the beautiful and highly…

Hacking the Mainframe

Hacking the Mainframe

I love films as much as anybody, but I often get annoyed by how overly unrealistic many things are portrayed. Computers are the worst offenders often. It’s one thing to portray unrealistic things in Sci-Fi, but it’s another to portray them wrong in more real to life scenarios. I especially love all the bleeps and bloops computers made as on screen actors interact with touch screens (that aren’t really touch screens) and the little digital scrolling noises browsers make as they scroll (if my computer really made that noise I would turn it off so fast…).

I realize this is the movies and we…

House of Tweets - Social Media and New Media

House of Tweets - Social Media and New Media
Christine Erickson - Mashable

We’ve all been there — a Sunday afternoon marathoning Lost or some other show that’s been aired for years, yet we never got around to watching it.

Now think about when a new show premieres. Most of us whip out our phones and share the excitement along with thousands of other viewers watching on social media. Live events tend to generate a mass amount of buzz because we’re all watching together at the same time.

...

House of Cards had the highest percentage of overall buzz occur during the first week following the premiere. That buzz also decreased at a faster rate than any of the…

The Wolverine Teaser Trailer Announcement on Vine

The Wolverine Teaser Trailer Announcement on Vine

Best use of Vine ever. I have not used the Vine video service, nor particulalry cared, but this is awesome and may have singlehandedly made me more interested in the serivce.

James Mangold has put it to great use, with what is apparently clips from the full teaser trailer. Some on Twitter have taken to calling this the Tweaser.

Check it out.
