Thor: The Dark World

Thor: The Dark World

In this episode, TJ gives his brief review of ‘Thor: The Dark World’, and why it’s much better than the first film. In fact, it’s a pretty good Marvel film in general. It features great chemistry between Thor and Jane, plenty of fun and humor, plenty of seriousness, and a lot of Loki. What’s not to like? Of course it’s not all roses as there are “some” issues.

Rated S for Super Spoilers! - Man of Steel Honest Trailer

YES! I’ve been waiting for this for what seems like my whole life — or at least since I got out of the theater from seeing this horrible travesty of a film. This film was such a horrible train wreck that I don’t even need to put my normal caveats in place about how while I enjoyed the honest trailer I still lliked the film. No, I think Man of Steel pretty much deserves every one of these jabs and more.

This may be the most fun I’ve had with one of these yet.

Thor: The Dark World — Review

4 of 5 stars
Thor: The Dark World

Am I truly desperate? Not really. Am I mad? Possbily. But I liked Thor: The Dark World quite a lot. The film is not without its share of flaws which I shall address, but this film certainly manages to strike a much better note than did it’s predecessor, simply titled Thor. However few critics seem to keep my company on this opinion — well, at least few share my opinion that Thor was not a great film. Indeed, the Tomatometer for Thor sits at 77% while the Tomatometer for Thor: The Dark World sits at only 65% as of this writing.

In short, Thor has been busy restoring order to the nine…

Disney to Ruin — Excuse me “Readapt” ‘The Princess Bride’

Disney to Ruin — Excuse me “Readapt” ‘The Princess Bride’
Joanna Robinson - Pajiba

There’s a shortage of perfect films in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one. If you ask anyone with a beating heart, they’ll tell you that Rob Reiner’s 1987 confection, The Princess Bride, is without blemish. (Well, except for that Knopfler song.) The film, of course, is based on William Goldman’s outstanding novel of the same name but I think this is a rare instance where the movie surpasses book. The film strikes the perfect balance of silly, snarky, sappy and utterly charming. It achieves such a rare harmony and though many subsequent films have tried to recapture it, all…

Lex Luthor Confirmed for ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?

Lex Luthor Confirmed for ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Firstly, Lex Luthor was basically confirmed as the villain for the “Man Of Steel” followup, which everyone sorta figured anyway. Of course, the character had been rumored to make a brief appearance in “Man Of Steel” (which obviously didn’t happen) while the trailer and movie had a few nods to LexCorp if you kept your eyes open and on the look for them. “At its core, Superman is an alien. He comes from an alien world … Lex loves to call him an alien,” Zack Snyder said, to which host Smith countered, “That’s a spoiler, folks.”

Not that I care too much, but I figured you guys might. I’m not…

About Loki in ‘Thor: The Dark World’

About Loki in ‘Thor: The Dark World’
Germain Lussier - /Film

We’re obviously going into spoilers here so please be aware!

This article contains major spoilers for Thor: The Dark World.

One of the best things about Thor: The Dark World is it leaves many intriguing unanswered questions. The biggest one involves the ripple effect of the mid-credits scene, which we’ll discuss shortly. But there’s also the fate of Loki. As you know if you’ve seen the film, there’s no real definitive answer as to Loki’s intentions at the end. To get an answer, I went to the source (or sources): Tom Hiddleston, director Alan Taylor and Marvel President Kevin Feige. I asked…

‘Gravity’ - VFX Breakdown of one Shot

‘Gravity’ - VFX Breakdown of one Shot

I don’t know about you guys, but I really love this stuff. This breaks down how a CG helmet was placed in the scene floating around in the cabin with Sandra Bullock as she was attempting to figure out how to maneuver the escape pod thing she was in. I’ve done 2D and pseudo 3D work in After Effects, but this is a different world altogether. What’s really remarkable is that though I remember this shot, I had no idea that the helmet in this particular shot was 3D. In fact, if you had asked me about this shot I would not have remembered that there was a floating helmet in it at all. It’s a…

U.S. Military Wants An ‘Iron Man’ Suit

U.S. Military Wants An ‘Iron Man’ Suit
David S. Cloud - The Los Angeles Times

Now employed by a small defense company, he is part of a crash effort by U.S. Special Operations Command to produce a radically new protective suit for elite soldiers to wear into battle — one with bionic limbs, head-to-toe armor, a built-in power supply and live data feeds projected on a see-through display inside the helmet.

They call it — what else? — the “Iron Man suit.”

“We’re taking the Iron Man concept and bringing it closer to reality,” said Dowling, referring to the Marvel Comics character Tony Stark, an industrialist and master engineer who builds a rocket-powered exoskeleton,…

Next Bourne Film in 2015 With Jeremy Renner

Next Bourne Film in 2015 With Jeremy Renner
Germain Lussier - /Film

Justin Lin is going from fast and furious cars to fast and furious fists. The director has just signed on to direct the next Bourne movie, which will follow Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) in a story written by Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes). Universal is hoping for a summer 2015 release.

Sorry, give me a minute, I just threw up a little…

No really, The Bourne Legacy was so bad. Why would we want to make another one? What’s it going to be called? The Bourne Folly? The Bourne Stupidity? At least the fired the terrible director from the last film.

Missing the Point Entirely - A ‘Hunger Games’ Theme Park

Missing the Point Entirely - A ‘Hunger Games’ Theme Park
Devin Faraci - Baddass Digest

What if The Hunger Games: Catching Fire turned out to be a really great movie that was very smartly about subversion, and what if the people releasing the movie - Lionsgate - sort of never got it and didn’t understand the concept of bread & circuses distracting the masses from the harsh realities of a system they could - and should - overthrow. Well, they might open a theme park based on the kids-killing-kids fun of The Hunger Games

Actually, they are.

Wow. They’ve got to be joking. This is a joke, right? Right???

Talk about missing the point indeed. This is truly the definition of…
