While I’m posting old Star Wars videos, here’s a fun one of how the sound designer put together that familiar sound of the Falcon’s hyper drive failing to work. I’d recognize that sound anywhere. I love sound effects and finding out how they are put together. Love it!

Whatever your feelings on John Williams are, I think almost all of us will admit that his work on Star Wars has been the best of his career, and is absolutely magical, as well as vital to the success of the franchise up to this point. I may not be a big fan of Peter Jackson’s latest (bloated) triology, but this may be the best interview I’ve seen all year. It reminds me in some ways of that Gollum Acceptance Speach video that Weta Digital did. I love it when they do this sort of thing.

Let’s face it: when it comes to the cinematic future of Spider-Man, nobody knows what’s going on. And that’s because even Sony isn’t sure what the next move could be following the fan loathed and underperforming “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Just this past week the Sony leaks revealed that the studio briefly discussed trying to work about a deal with Marvel to include the character in “Captain America: The Civil War.” It didn’t pan out, but it appears the talks between the two aren’t over.

Critics just hated the first installment in the Divergent series of films. They thought it too formulaic and predictable. I found the film to be okay — yes, occasionally formulaic, but… ahem… diverting.

That said, I think this second film could go either way. In fact I would say this film will either be a good bit better and considerably worse and I’m not sure which yet. Ever since news broke last week that Roberto Orci would no longer be directing the nextStar Trek film, there has been a great deal of confusion, speculation, and misinformation regarding Orci’s continuing role as well as the future of the feature film franchise. I’m not really a huge fan of Hal Rudnik, but he managed to not be too annoying during this interview and it’s certainly worth it to get a few nuggets from James Gunn about Guardians.

I’ll also just mention that I agree with Gunn’s assessment of his own film’s weakness of not having enough of the villain.

Just yesterday, Jonathan Frakes announced that he loves the twitter campaign and would be thrilled to direct the next Star Trek movie. While he has not responded on Twitter, he did give an interview to KOMO News Radio, wherein he said:
