MovieByte Podcast Schedule

MovieByte Podcast Schedule

Alright guys, I’ve talked with Joe, and what we are going to do is have a double feature episode next week. So basically, we’re just skipping this week’s show and there will be no make up show. As you might recall, something came up at the last minute and we had to cancel this week’s episode of The MovieByte Podcast. This will be the first time in the history of the show — nearly a year, and 46 episodes worth — that we have missed a week. There has been a show EVERY WEEK. I call that consistency. And we do it for you guys. We want you to know that you can count on us. But every once in a…

Big ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer

Big ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer

Get ready for June 14th, it’s going to be a big one guys! This trailer is pretty epic. I don’t know if it’s as epic is the final trailer for Star Trek was, but it’s way up there.

There’s not a lot of words in this trailer, but you really don’t need them. It works so well and communicates everything it needs to. And man am I ready. Are you ready? Buckle up! Let’s see what Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan’s vision is for the Superman!

About ‘After Earth’ And Scientology

About ‘After Earth’ And Scientology
Nathan Francis - The Inquisitr

After Earth is heavy with Scientology themes, critics say, adding more ammunition against what is already the summer’s biggest box office flop.

The sci-fi film starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith was one of the biggest bombs in recent memory, pulling in only $27 million the first weekend. It was even beaten at the box office by Now You See Me, a movie about teleporting, bank-robbing magicians.

Allow me to break in here and say, what?!? Teleporting bank-robbing magicians? Did Nathan Francis even see the film? They may have just been trying to get a laugh but I’m not laughing,…

Will Smith Answers Questions about ‘After Earth’

Will Smith Answers Questions about ‘After Earth’

This is from May 31st and I’ve been meaning to post it because I thought you all might be interested in it. So better late then never right?

Many people are not too happy with After Earth, some are claiming it lacks ambition or originality. To both of those I say their nuts. Many are saying it’s due to the Scientology present in the film. Well here’s the deal, I don’t know anything about Scientology, so I evaluated the film in a very straightforward way based on the story and whether it was any good. And I have to say that while flawed, I liked it fairly well.

In any event, if you want…

Joss Whedon talks ‘Much Ado’

Joss Whedon talks ‘Much Ado’

With the film making it’s wide theatrical release on June 14, some of you may want to hear from the man himself a little bit about the film, and I am here to satisfy that longing.

He talks about casting Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof and how he normally likes to cast them as star crossed lovers and he thought it might be nice to un-cross them, what it was like to work with someone else’s characters (again) since he’s most well known for creating new and unique original characters, oh, and what would an ice cream named after him be called… wait, what?

Anyway, check it out.

‘The Lone Ranger’ Featurette: ‘Spirit Platform’

‘The Lone Ranger’ Featurette: ‘Spirit Platform’

Who’s ready to see captain Jack Sparrow play an American Indian in The Lone Ranger? Oh, you aren’t, you don’t care you say? Too bad, because this thing is happening. And truth be told, it will probably be pretty fun, even if Johnny Depp’s style is starting to wear a little thin, at least for me. It’s kind of like someone said, “what if we do Pirates of the Caribbean without the water and ships? What if we make it about a ranger? Hey I know, it can be The Lone Ranger!”

So you’ll forgive me for not being overly excited. Besides, if history is any indication, since I don’t expect the film to…

‘The Heat’ Clip: Are You A Narc?

‘The Heat’ Clip: Are You A Narc?

So, uh, this is a thing.

I sure hope the film is funnier than this because this isn’t going to cut it for me. I almost smiled once or twice, but I’m expecting a lot more humor than this. And I also hope there’s an actual story here. I don’t know, we’ll see, but after seeing the last Melissa McCarthy film and not liking it at all I don’t have a lot of hope for this.

Still, I like Sandra Bullock so I’m holding out hope.

Interview with Ming-Na Wen of ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Interview with Ming-Na Wen of ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’
Eric Goldman - IGN.com

With an impressive resume that includes everything from ER to Stargate Universe (and yes, at IGN, we’ll always love her for Street Fighter!), Ming-Na Wen returns to TV this fall as Agent Melinda May on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I recently spoke to Wen about her role on the highly anticipated ABC series, which will tie into the Marvel cinematic universe, with Melinda and her fellow agents going on missions alongside Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).

Talking to cast members from a secretive project like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can be tricky, as there is so much they’re not allowed to…

2 Clips from ‘Man of Steel’

2 Clips from ‘Man of Steel’

I’ve got two clips here from the upcoming Man of Steel. The clips are from the YouTube channel MovieclipsCOMINGSOON. The clips appear to be filmed from a TV or something so I suggest you watch them now in case they get pulled. Even with that, they aren’t terrible quality and I don’t think they really give anything away. One this is certain, I’m ready to see this film!

In this first clip, Morpheus offers Lois Lane a choice between a red pill and a blue pill… wait, sorry, wrong movie…

Whedon Says No ‘Avengers 2’ Without Robert Downey Jr.

Whedon Says No ‘Avengers 2’ Without Robert Downey Jr.
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

“He is Iron Man,” Whedon told The Daily Beast. “He is Iron Man in the way that Sean Connery was James Bond. I have no intention of making ‘Avengers 2’ without him, nor do I think I’ll be called upon to do that. I don’t think it’s in my interest, Marvel’s interest, or his interest, and I think everything will be fine.”

You know what? We think everything will be fine too, for the simple fact that no one is going to want to see “The Avengers 2” without Iron Man/Tony Stark or with someone like, I dunno, Paul Walker subbing in there instead.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure any Avengers without Iron…
