An Incredibles Sequel

An Incredibles Sequel

TJ takes a look at the box office win of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ as well as the other top box office spots. Brad Bird talks about an ‘Incredibles’ sequel, which TJ would be in favor of. Did Renner loose his Hawkeye Gig? For the nerds, there are details to be noticed about the Enterprise at the end of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. And boy did Rob over at IO9 hate ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. An upcoming film adaption for ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ has been put on hold. There are several new trailers out this week including trailers for ‘Man of Steel’, ‘The Wolverine’, ‘The Lone Ranger’, and ‘Byzantium’. TJ wrote a review for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ as well as discussed it on ‘The MovieByte Podcast’ with Anthony Pascale and Joe Darnell. There’s also the article about Alice Eve’s gratuitous underwear scene. And finally, TJ talks about what you might want to see in theaters this weakend.

What to see: Weekend of May 24, 2013

What to see: Weekend of May 24, 2013

I’m thinking Star Trek Into Darkness may still be the best thing to see in theaters this week as far as I’m concerned. The new releases this weekend are not looking great. I’ll be seeing Epic because we’re reviewing it on the Podcast next week, and because I’m mildly interested, and because I’ve already seen Star Trek Into Darkness twice.

Here’s what we’ve got:

New This Weekend

Epic - PG
This actually looks a little bit interesting, but that’s all I can muster to say about it. So, kind of “meh.” It looks like they’ve mixed a little Ferngully with a little Avatar, then added a smidge…

Download a track from ‘Man of Steel’ Score Free with Ticket

So if you buy tickets to see Man of Steel on June 14 over on Fandango right now, you will receive a free download of one track from the upcoming film.

It may not be an earth shattering deal or anything, but it’s worth doing if you ask me.

I will say though that I already ordered my Man of Steel tickets and have not received my download code yet. The site did say to allow 24 hours for them to send it to my email. I want to listen so I hope they hurry.

If you want to take advantage, head over to Fandango and get your tickets.

New Trailer and Clip for ‘Monsters University’

New Trailer and Clip for ‘Monsters University’

Are you ready for some good old Pixar fun? I am, and Monsters University seems like it ought to be able to deliver. If Pixar has sequelitis (it’s a real thing, trust me), then I’m glad it has reached the vital organ called Monsters. As with most Pixar films, Monsters Inc was great, and I expect great things of Monsters University as well.

Saoirse Ronan as The Scarlet Witch?

Saoirse Ronan as The Scarlet Witch?
Jill Pantozzi - The Mary Sue

The Mary Sue: You worked with Eric Bana in Hanna and he played the Hulk for Marvel. There was a rumor going around you’re Joss Whedon’s “prototype” for the character Scarlet Witch in The Avengers sequel. Did you hear anything about that and second, would you be interested in doing a superhero film ever?

Ronan: I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would. I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it.”

Henry Cavill on a Batman/Superman Movie Possibility

Henry Cavill on a Batman/Superman Movie Possibility
ComingSoon.net

“I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict,” Cavill told SFX“because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.”

When asked if this is actually a possibility, Cavill replied:

“Who knows, I’m sure there’s all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros right now.”

It “could” be interesting, and I’m given to understand that in…

Another Article on the Gratuitous Underwear Scene

Another Article on the Gratuitous Underwear Scene
Kayla Iacovino - TrekMovie.com

But, let’s back up a second. Why exactly is she in her underwear? She tells Kirk to turn around, doesn’t mention why (were we expecting here to require a change of wardrobe?) and then acts coy when Kirk sneaks a peak at her half-dressed body. The scene was flat out gratuitous. It had no point. There was no reason for her to change clothes. There was no reason for her to change in front of Kirk. There was no reason for her to change in a shuttlecraft with the back door hanging wide open. The writers threw the scene in for pure, testosterone-driven shock value. (Side note: lucky she was…

Gratuitous Underwear

Gratuitous Underwear

On the podcast last night (find the episode here) where Joe and I talked with Anthony Pascale about Star Trek Into Darkness got me to thinking about this so I wanted to write a bit more about it.

Star Trek Into Undies

There is a scene you may remember from the more recent trailers, and the same scene is of course in the movie, which features the beautiful Alice Eve. If you came here to see pictures, I’m sorry. I am not going to exploit Alice Eve in the same way Star Trek did.

Alice Eve is beautiful and attractive under any ordinary circumstances, but in the scene in question, she is…

My Name Is…

My Name Is…

In this episode, TJ and Joe are joined by Anthony Pascale to talk about ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. And that they do. The entire show is a big celebration of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. And don’t let the nit-picks lead you in the wrong direction. Though they talk about a lot of nit-picky things, they all enjoyed the film immensely. And there’s plenty of fun stuff like a GIF of the Vengeance crashing into Alcatraz (tell us how you really feel about that show being canceled J.J.!), and the humor-full IO9 FAQ review of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. So, nerds and general movie going audiences, unite! ‘Star Trek’ was fun for all!

Pacific Rim Featurette “Drift Space” (and 30 second trailer)

Pacific Rim Featurette “Drift Space” (and 30 second trailer)

Hey, GLaDOS is still in the film! Frankly it’s just a bit weird and menacing. Maybe that’s the point, but somehow it’s too weird.

But that aside, I’m having a really hard time getting interested in this film at all. Is it just me? It looks like a great big action fest with not a lot of plot. I’m not seeing a lot of info, material, or promos for who these people are and why we care about them. It’s all about the tech, the mind melding, the big stinkin’ robots, blah blah blah.

I know I have a hard time letting my feelings out and all but I’m trying to telegraph something here for…
