‘24’ Alum Cast for ‘Revolution’

‘24’ Alum Cast for ‘Revolution’
TV Line

One of 24 crimestopper Jack Bauer’s love interests has landed a role on NBC’s Revolution.

TVLine has learned that Annie Wersching, who played 24 FBI agent Renee Walker, will guest-star on TV’s highest-rated freshman drama as Emma, who was Miles Matheson’s first love — and also the first object of Sebastian Monroe’s obsession. When Emma resurfaces in the current timeline, it sets the stage for a dramatic confrontation between the gentleman frenemies.

Not huge news or anything, but seeing how I’m a fan of the show it’s mildly interesting. Apparently, and I didn’t know this, not being a…

Joss Whedon Dreams of ‘Firefly’ Return

Joss Whedon Dreams of ‘Firefly’ Return
FilmoFilia

He sure is busy with The Avengers sequel and other Marvel Cinematic Universe properties, but Capt. Mal Reynolds, Zoe and the rest of the Firefly crew will always have a special place in Joss Whedon‘s heart. The director says he’d love to return to that world after he’s finished with The Avengers 2.

Speaking to the Toronto Sun, the director stated that he’ll never let hopes of a Firefly resurrection die.

“I’ll never really accept it,” Whedon said. “And I always, in the back of my head, think, ‘What if I could get the old gang back together?’”

In regards to getting the Firefly cast…

The Flare of Abrams

The Flare of Abrams

Heh.

Now this looks more like the visual style we an expect from a J.J. Abrams version of Star Wars. I really hope and pray not, but he seems to steadfastly refuse to acknowledge that he was completely overused a cool effect and let it take over his films.

In any event, this is pretty funny.

Maria Hill a Possibility for S.H.I.E.L.D.

In a recent interview with I Am Rogue, the actress discussed the sequel and, more interestingly, the definite possibility for her to appear in Marvel’s TV adaptation of S.H.I.E.L.D.

...

On whether Maria Hill could appear in Joss Whedon-directed S.H.I.E.L.D. small-screen adaptation, Cobie Smulders states,

“The commitments to How I Met Your Mother don’t affect it. And I can’t really say, but there are definite talks about it.”

And:

“Oh yeah! I’m very excited. I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.”

She was one of the more enjoyable…

‘Star Wars Into Darkness’ - Mashup

‘Star Wars Into Darkness’ - Mashup

Oh man, I want to watch that film!

This is likely only the first of many such mashups. In fact, once Star Trek Into Darkness is released, I expect there to be whole film adaptions and mashups, or at least short film length mashups.

Anyway, this perhaps can give you just an idea of what we’re in for — although there just are not enough lens flares present here to be a completely accurate representation of what Abrams will bring to Star Wars.

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Leads Box Office

‘Hansel and Gretel’ Leads Box Office
Entertainment Weekly

Almost a year after its originally scheduled March 2012 release, Paramount’s $50 million Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters topped the chart on its first Friday with $6.0 million from 3,372 theaters. The poorly reviewed film (a phrase that applies to all this weekend’s new releases) stars Gemma Arteron and Jeremy Renner, but the Avengers star has demonstrated little drawing power as a leading man so far. Hansel and Gretel may take in about $16 million worth of [gingerbread] dough over the full weekend frame.

While it’s still not likely to be a huge blockbuster, Box Office Mojo reports it…

What Happens to J.J. Trek?

What Happens to J.J. Trek?
Hero Complex

It’s a question that immediately sprang to the minds of fans of two franchises with Thursday’s news that J.J. Abrams will direct “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

What happens to “Star Trek”?

According to Paramount Vice Chairman Rob Moore, Abrams — who directed both 2009′s “Star Trek” and the upcoming sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness” — will still be involved in some capacity with a possible third “Trek” movie, at the minimum as a producer, if not also directing the film.

Moore also pointed out that Abrams will continue to play a role in another of the studio’s most valuable franchises,…
