Peter Jackson on ‘The Hobbit’ 3 parts, frame rate and more
Indie Wire: The Playlist

Today in New York the junket was held for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first in the new trilogy of J.R.R. Tolkein-based films from “Lord of the Rings” mastermind Peter Jackson. A sweeping fantasy epic that takes place above and below Middle Earth, featuring heroes both new and familiar, ‘The Hobbit’ is made even more audacious and mind-boggling by Jackson’s insistence in shooting the movie in 48 frames per second, which gives the 3D some much-needed oomph and, honestly, might make you a little bit sick (more on that in a minute).

I’m still not happy with the 48 FPS business,…

I’m Not a Kangaroo

I’m Not a Kangaroo

Join TJ and Joseph as they talk about whether Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be Batman or not, the upcoming remake of ‘Flight of the Navigator’, ‘Revenge of the Sith’ as a great work of art — which leave them scratching their heads, the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ poster and how much it looks like a rip-off of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ poster, and the Man of Steel’ in hand cuffs? What gives? And then the two main topics of discussion, Rise of the Guardians, and Men in Black 3. They didn’t think very highly of Rise of the Guardians, its convoluted and complicated plot, its confusing message for children, its lack of precision with regards to story and more. And for Men in Black 3, TJ enjoyed it very much while Joseph was pretty neutral on it. They also announce the winner of the “Ratings and Reviews” contest. Be sure to tune in!

‘Tron 3’ is a Go

‘Tron 3’ is a Go
The Hollywood Reporter

The sequel to the 2010 reboot Tron: Legacy —called Tron 3 in some quarters—is moving a step forward with Disney in negotiations to hire Jesse Wigutow to pen the latest draft of the script.

Joseph Kosinski, who directed Legacy, is attached to helm this installment, which is being developed with a renewed purpose under Alan Horn, who took the reins of Disney Studios in June.

Some considered the dark and trippy Legacy —which teamed newcomer Garrett Hedlund with Jeff Bridges, star of the 1982 original Tron —a lukewarm performer when it opened in December 2010. But the film grossed $400…

TNG Season 3 Remastered Trailer

TNG Season 3 Remastered Trailer

As much as I have been enjoying the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) Seasons 1 and 2 clips, episodes, theater events, and news, Season 3 is what I’m really look forward to. That’s when TNG really got cooking. And oh my goodness, how much better are the uniforms from Season 3 onward? Serously!

Season 3 gave us some of the best in Star Trek like:

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Honest Trailer

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Honest Trailer

The one we’ve been waiting for is here. I know that while I liked The Dark Knight Rises it was not quite up to the level of the previous two Batman films, certainly in terms of story, and in other ways.

That’s what makes this one so fun. Whereas often, while I find the Honest Trailers amusing, a laugh riot even, I don’t generally agree with the complaints. But I don’t think there is a single thing being criticized in this Honest Trailer that I don’t agree with.

Anyway, it’s fun.

Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer Analysis – Someone Wants Vengeance

Let’s start with the voice over, which is provide by the film’s villain (played by Benedict Cumberbatch):

You think your world is safe? It is an illusion. A comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace for I have returned to have my vengeance.

….

So shall we begin?

Firstly, this voice over appears to confirm that “vengeance” is a theme of the film. As reported by TrekMovie.com “Star Trek: Vengeance” was considered as a possible title for the film. Secondly, he is saying he has…

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Teaser Trailer

‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Teaser Trailer

Here we are, the promised teaser trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness before the theatrical trailer debuts with The Hobbit on the 14th.

As one might expect, it looks epic. I have a feeling I’m going to like this film better than the last, but we’ll see. The last film had a lot of obligatory reboot stuff, but unfortunately (in my opinion) the reboot wasn’t clean. They tied it to the old Star Trek while wiping the old Star Trek out and informing us this is the new timeline. It was an unfortunately choice in my opinion. But I’m willing to live in this new Star Trek universe now and enjoy it…
