New Trailer for ‘Jupiter Ascending’

New Trailer for ‘Jupiter Ascending’

So, speaking of sci-fi…

Call me a sucker for it, call me silly, insane, whatever, but I still think this film looks really good. I know there are a lot of warning signs, I know it looks just a little too slick, I know that there was a reason it was moved to a February release date — right off of prime real estate — but I think it looks fantastic.

The Wachowskis have been pretty hit or miss for my part. While The Matrix holds a very special place near and dear to my heart, the follow up films in that franchise were not up to that first film’s genius. And please don’t even get me started…

‘Predestination’ Trailer

‘Predestination’ Trailer

Ethan Hawke is a temporal agent — or at least he’s playing one in the trailer for the upcoming Predestination.

I do not believe time travel is actually possible — or if it is, it will most certainly not work the way it does in the movies (I mean really, a Delorean?). That said, I’m a pretty notorious nut for sci-fi, and time travel can make for some great sci-fi. And this certainly looks like great stuff. It’s an interesting take in that it has sort of a film noir look to it, but it’s a time travel film. There’s also the idea that I’m sure appeals to all of us on some level, and that is, if…

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Trailer 2

‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Trailer 2

I sure hope this film is as fantastic as it looks. Sure, it’s completely unrealistic, but it looks just spectacular. Sure, it will be goofy, but my money says there’s a story in there.

Mathew Vaughn is directing, and he’s begun to make quite a name for himself. He does solid work and I think this has the potential to prove his best film yet. Colin firth is, of course, a solid choice, though not necessarily someone you would expect to see in this particular role. But I think he’ll work well.

There’s also Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, and Mark Hamill. Lots to look forward to here.

Liam Neeson Talks ‘Tak3n’

Liam Neeson Talks ‘Tak3n’
Edward Davis — The Playlist

“This time, no more traveling,” Liam Neeson told USA Today this morning. “If my daughter was ‘taken’ again on a trip, Bryan Mills would have to be certifiably locked up for bad parenting.” Yep, that’s right. They’ve changed the formula of the “Taken” series, with the title being rejigged as “Tak3n.” This time, Mills is the prey after he’s framed for the murder of someone close to him. And since no promotional pics of  Famke Janssen have emerged, maybe it’s her?

I guess we’re going to do this. Please, please, please be better than ‘Taken 2’! That actually shouldn’t be all that hard, right?…

Kirsten Dunst in Short Film ‘Aspirational’ About Selfie Culture

Kirsten Dunst in Short Film ‘Aspirational’ About Selfie Culture

I may be pre-disposed to like this because of my general loathing and hatred for the selfie culture, but I do like this. It’s short and it makes a point. If I ever had the opportunity to talkt o Kirsten Dunst, I honestly have no idea what it would be about, but it sure wouldn’t be to ask her tag me. Maybe I’d chat with her about her role in Spider-Man, or what it was like to do Jumanji with Robin Williams.

This short film, unfortunately, may hit a little bit close to home. Check it out

The Story of Batman

The Story of Batman

Liam Neeson is back, and he’s got a gun. And he’s taking ‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’. Apparently some filmmakers feel like that’s enough for a good film. Joe tends to agree but TJ feels a little differently. Together, they explore why. Also in discussion, Marvel has released plot details for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, CGI animated footage of Popeye, a ‘Supergirl’ TV series coming soon, and the latest upcoming films and trailers.

A Few Upcoming Films

A Few Upcoming Films

I have been very busy lately. Very busy. In addition to my day job of web development, which I work roughly eight hours a day, give or take, I also take client work when I can (I have to the freedom to do this with my job). Plus I see at least one movie every week, podcast about it every week, and write various bits and pieces for the site every day — well except I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t really do that on days that I podcast as well. Case in point: today (I’m writing this at 9:15 PM the day before you will be reading this) I got up at five to work three hours on a freelance…

‘Godzilla’ Writer Max Borenstein to Script ‘Godzilla 2′

‘Godzilla’ Writer Max Borenstein to Script ‘Godzilla 2′
Angie Han — /Film

Godzilla 2 already has a release date, director, and list of monsters in place, and now it also has a writer. Max Borenstein, who scripted this summer’s Godzilla, will be back to write the sequel.

Deadline reports that Borenstein’s deal with Legendary has already closed. Details on the overall plot of the new movie haven’t been revealed, but kaiju teased at Legendary’s Comic-Con panel include Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah. (And Godzilla, obviously.)

Yeah, so that doesn’t give me a lot of hope for this film. I mean the first one was fine. Just okay. But every problem I had with that film was…

‘Supergirl’ TV Series Coming to CBS

‘Supergirl’ TV Series Coming to CBS
Angie Han — /Film

Supergirl is coming to CBS. The network has just landed the DC Comics adaptation, which is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow) and Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family).

The pickup means that, if all goes well, four of the five broadcast networks will airing shows based on DC characters next season. The fifth, ABC, will still be in the costumed-hero game, with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. There is the small (very small) chance that it could be good, but I’m not betting on it. D.C. is doing a pretty terrible job at the…

Roberto Orci Drops ‘Power Rangers’ To Focus on Next ‘Star Trek’ Film

Roberto Orci Drops ‘Power Rangers’ To Focus on Next ‘Star Trek’ Film
Anthony Pascale — TrekMovie.com

In order to deliver a Trek film by the Summer of 2016, Orci is going to be very busy for the next 21 months or so. And apparently this has caused Bob to cut some stuff from his to-do list. In July we reported that he had signed on as an executive producer for a Power Rangers reboot. But now Deadline is reporting that Orci has dropped out of the project “because his Star Trek 3 directing obligation has created a scheduling conflict.”

Welp.

It’s happening. My fingers are crossed.
