Top New Releases for Oct. 5 Weekend - Trailers

New in theaters for the weekend is Taken 2, Frankenweenie, Wuthering Heights (limited release), and many others. I would imagine if you haven’t seen the trailers for these three top films yet that you are probably here to see them and not read this, so please watch:

Studio’s synopsis of Taken 2:

Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a “particular set of skills” who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from kidnappers. When the father of one of the villains Bryan killed swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim…

Gun Control PSA from ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Victim

Gun Control PSA from ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Victim
Entertainment Weekly

While attending a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colo. this summer, Stephen Barton was shot in the face and neck. But compared to several other victims, he was lucky; Barton lived, and now he’s working to raise awareness of gun violence. According to his new PSA, 48,000 Americans will be shot and murdered during the next four years — “enough to fill over 200 theaters.” He urges viewers to visit DemandAPlan.org, an organization that’s working to end gun violence. See Barton’s poignant PSA below.

Because we just absolutely have to take a tragedy and make it…

Bruce Willis & John Malkovich - Red 2

Bruce Willis & John Malkovich - Red 2
FilmoFilia.com

2010′s Red was fairly successful, grossing $186.5 million worldwide, so it’s not really a surprise that a sequel, which has just started filming in Canada, was given the greenlight.

Bruce Willis was seen at St Andrew’s United Church in Chateauguay, which was converted into a funeral home for the filming. On the other hand, John Malkovich was only seen walking through the streets of Montreal. Check the pictures out after the jump.

Red was a lot of fun and quite an enjoyable film. I’m looking forward to see what they bring us for Red 2.

‘Taken 2’ Clip

‘Taken 2’ Clip

Joseph has already asked us, why would you mess with Liam Neeson twice? Now it looks like we get to start seeing early looks at those repercussions.

In this clip I really love the use of the grenade explosion to figure out distance and map intersection and cool things like that. For some reason I never saw the first Taken film. Now I think I’m going to need to do that.

Taken 2 is set to open tomorrow.

Lincoln Joins the Presidential Debate

Lincoln Joins the Presidential Debate

Following last night’s presidential debate, a new trailer for Lincoln debuted. With all the bluster and hype, half truths, lies, posturing, double tongued speak, and promises that will be broken associated with the debate, it seems only fitting to debut a new trailer for what is likely a historical revisionism film (hey, Joseph had his say, now I’m having mine…).

Although I was surprised that in this trailer, a part of Lincoln’s highly unconstitutional ways seemed to be showing forth a little, yet I have no doubt that the intention is to cast a positive spin on the whole charade as has…

Media Distribution Paradigms

Media Distribution Paradigms

I’m one of those cable cutters; I do not have subscription cable TV. I have a cable line running into my house, but it only provides me with Internet. I use Hulu and Netflix, and I have pretty much ripped all my DVDs or Blu-rays and store them on a Hard Drive on an inexpensive Mac Mini “Media Server”. When I purchase these days, I purchase almost all my movies, TV shows 1 , and music through iTunes. The reasons for this are simple, it’s fairly future proof, I can re-download the media from iTunes in the Cloud anytime I want or need to, which also makes it always available via streaming to…

Trouble with the Curve — Review

3.5 of 5 stars
Trouble with the Curve

An ailing baseball scout in his twilight years takes his daughter along for one last recruiting trip.

It’s a story about living as a human being — not a human doing. Best laid plans and hard work go to waste, but life seems to work out for the best if you’ll just stick with it.

And like one character in the movie says, “It’s just a game.”

Storyline

Gus Lobel is one of the great baseball scout experts that should be added to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Thanks to Gus, the Atlanta Braves were successful during the nineties, what with the key players Gus introduced to the team.

But now…
