Response to Whedon’s ‘Boycott’

Response to Whedon’s ‘Boycott’

This is such great fun. As I mentioned and linked to a couple days ago, Joss Whedon did a tongue-in-cheek video “asking” everyone to “boycott” a film called Sleepwalk With Me. In the snarky, sarcastic way that only Joss can do, he gave the film several comments (disguised as insults and reasons for boycotting). Whedon even asked fans to request the movie be screened in their local theatre so they could boycott the film as well (side note, my favorite part of the Joss Whedon video is the very end when he says, “remember when I made The Avengers?” Hilarious!).

Now the film-makers, Mike…

Apple and Cable sitting in a Tree…
Slashfilm

If you’re even a little bit of a tech geek (or sharing living space with someone who is), odds are the space around your TV is cluttered with devices. You’ve got your cable box, your Blu-ray player, your XBox, your Apple TV, and what have you. But if Apple has its way, you may be able to ditch one of those boxes soon.

The electronics giant is reportedly in talks with U.S. cable providers about the possibility of letting consumers use an Apple product as a set-top box for watching live TV. Negotiations aren’t that far along at this point, so don’t expect to see a live TV app pop up on…

Pixar Short ‘Partysaurus Rex’ Clip

Pixar Short ‘Partysaurus Rex’ Clip
Slashfilm

When Finding Nemo 3D hits theaters next month, it’ll have a brand new Pixar short in front of it: The Toy Story Toon Partysaurus Rex. Directed by Mark Walsh, the clip features Rex (Wallace Shawn) starting a rave in a bath tube with music by BT. Seriously. A couple images were released last week and now Disney has released a clip that features a bunch of new toys. Check it out below.

I like Pixar shorts. I’m not too sure about this one, but I’ll have a little faith and trust that I’ll enjoy the whole short. Finding Nemo in 3D however, I could not possibly care any less about.

Here’s…

Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams Team Up for ‘Trouble With The Curve’

Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams Team Up for ‘Trouble With The Curve’
Total Film

It seemed as though he had all but retired after Gran Torino back in 2008, but Clint Eastwood is back on the big screen once more in baseball drama Trouble With The Curve, the first trailer for which has just arrived online.

Eastwood plays a grizzled old baseball scout whose body is beginning to fail him in his old age. When his daughter (Amy Adams) offers to lend a hand on one last scouting trip, Clint grudgingly agrees, only for the two to explore some home truths on their way around the country.

Justin Timberlake drops in for the ride as Adams’ ball-playing love interest while John…

McDowell Spouts Off

McDowell Spouts Off
TrekNews.net

Please forgive my momentary lapse into ultra geekiness for linking to a Star Trek website.

In Generations, McDowell’s Soran character tries to destroy two stars and one inhabited planet in order to gain entrance into an imaginary extra-dimensional realm, called the Nexus, where all of one’s desires come true. Although he doesn’t accomplish his destructive pursuits, Soran does succeed in killing James T. Kirk in the process. A feat that apparently makes the actor proud, because “he got to be the guy who shut Shatner up.”

“I did them a favor,” says McDowell and proceeds to state that…

‘Order Up’ Is No Ordinary Pizza Delivery Story

‘Order Up’ Is No Ordinary Pizza Delivery Story

For all the high expectations we place on feature films it is easy to overlook shorts films stand to impress as well. Independents everywhere are responsible for various production values for TV shows, advertising, and often times are snatched up for new talent at the bigger studios. It’s no wonder that professional independents have a creative itch with simple and clever narratives to tell.

If you love film shorts and what they may inspire for the future of greater filmmaking, you will want to watch this highly creative and fun piece from the developers of the Red Giant film crew.

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch
Entertainment Weekly

Plutarch is new Head Gamemaker at the Capitol, replacing the seemingly executed Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) from The Hunger Games. A far savvier political animal than his predecessor, Plutarch is charged with overseeing the 75th annual Hunger Games, also called the Quarter Quell. As the name suggests, the event occurs every 25 years, tweaking the rules of the Hunger Games in a new, significantly brutal way. For the first Quarter Quell, citizens in each district voted on who would compete in that year’s Hunger Games. For the second Quarter Quell, each district provided four tributes to the…

I Don’t Want to Sound Crazy

I Don’t Want to Sound Crazy

This week, TJ and Joseph discuss the TVShack.net and Richard O’Dwyer extradition case and discuss their great consternation over the entire affair, Joss Whedon signing on for a second Avengers movie and what that might mean for the film and the entire Marvel universe, and the main topic, The Bourne Legacy. TJ and Joseph might have “slightly” differing opinions on the worth of this film and which of the Bourne films is the best. We also apologize for the poorer audio quality on TJ’s end this week. There were… technical issues with TJ’s pre-amp.
