SyFy Wants Back Into… Well… SciFi

SyFy Wants Back Into… Well… SciFi
Darren — GateWorld

This has to be good news to any fan of Stargate or quality science fiction: Syfy Channel, the cable network that took a lot of heat for changing its name and effectively walking away from the genre a few years ago, wants to get back in the game.

The network wants to do fewer procedurals and B-movies and more traditional, scripted science fiction drama — be it regular series or high-profile mini-series events.

Hmm. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…

Look, SyFy has had some good shows over the years. Some really good shows. AND THEY’VE CANCELED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM… Read The Rest

Marvel Won’t Back Down on ‘Baman vs. Superman’ Conflicting Release Date

Marvel Won’t Back Down on ‘Baman vs. Superman’ Conflicting Release Date
Germain Lussier – /Film

On May 6, 2016, Marvel and DC are going head to head at the box office. In one corner is DC’s highly anticipated Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman. In the other corner, an untitled Marvel Phase Three film. Marvel planted their flag on the day in June 2013. Six months later, DC all but challenged them by bumping Zack Snyder’s film to the same date. Many believed Marvel, which have yet to reveal what film will be released that day, would move off the date, scared at competing against two of the biggest superheroes in the world. But, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige,…

Alright Marshmallows, It’s Time! — What To See This Weekend

Alright Marshmallows, It’s Time! — What To See This Weekend

You kickstarted it, you wanted it, you deserve it, and now — provided you live in an area where there is an AMC theater, you’ve got it. The Veronica Mars movie is here, and it looks as good as the series was from what I can tell. And it’s about the only thing new this weekend that’s really worth checking out.

New This Weekend

Veronica Mars — PG-13

If this were playing anywhere near me, and if I was finished watching the series, this would be my film of choice this weekend. Unfortunately neither of those things is true. In order to see this fine looking film, you are going to need an AMC…

Chris McKay to Direct ‘The LEGO Movie’ Sequel

Chris McKay to Direct ‘The LEGO Movie’ Sequel
Mike Fleming Jr — Deadline

Warner Bros has set Chris McKay to direct its sequel to The Lego Movie, the film that opened last month and has so far turned in a worldwide gross of $361 million. McKay was animation co-director on the first film that was made under the direction of Phil Lord & Chris Miller. That duo is producing, and Michelle Morgan & Jared Stern are writing a treatment for the next installment. They are still working all this out, but this will be straight sequel, even though the studio is contemplating a spinoff film that broadens the Lego empire by focusing on the character Ninjago.

I’m sure he’ll do…

Rooney Mara to Play Tiger Lily in ‘Pan’

Rooney Mara to Play Tiger Lily in ‘Pan’
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Well, let’s cue up the controversy machine. Tiger Lily, the Native American princess of Neverland, is going to be played by someone not of Native American descent (nor from Neverland). We’re being a bit cheeky, but we’re sure this news is going to raise a few culturally-concerned eyebrows.

Rooney Mara has nabbed the part of Tiger Lily in Joe Wright’s forthcoming “Pan.”

Yeah, that’s some real controversy right there.

Nontroversy.

‘Captain America 2’ Clip — ‘Here to Ask a Favor’

‘Captain America 2’ Clip — ‘Here to Ask a Favor’

Apparently it takes a hijacking or possibly nuclear war to get Nick Fury to visit the big boss upstairs (at least I assume he’s the big boss or something). But whatever. This clip isn’t all that juicy, but… Nick Fury! Who doesn’t love Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury?

Adrian Pasdar Joins ‘Agents of SHIELD’

Andy Swift — TVLine

A former Heroes star is now on the hunt for a superhero.

Adrian Pasdar will appear in at least one upcoming episode of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Glenn Talbot, a character famous for spending years trying to track down The Hulk, Marvel.com announced Wednesday.

Though Pasdar can’t reveal why Glenn will be appearing in the show, he says, “there had to be a little bit more in it than just an episode for me,” implying the character will likely recur.

Nathan Petrelli!

While he was never my favorite character on Heroes or anything, he seems like a fine actor so that’s cool.

Captain America is Busting Through Walls, Doors, and Windows In This Clip

Captain America is Busting Through Walls, Doors, and Windows In This Clip

While the first Captain America film was fantastic, I think this film will be so in an entirely different way if the tone set by this clip is any indication. Much has been made about the high speed hand held format for the shooting, but I found this clip at least to be acceptable. The film is certainly going to be more gritty and modern, obviously being set in modern time this time. It looks like the Captain is learning how to put his skills to more and better uses than before for sure.

Follow up! Sam the Eagle has arrives and he’s awesome (see the show links)! This leads to a bit of muppet talk of course. And don’t miss, GLaDOS tells us all about the difference between Fusion and Fission. Idris Elba has been cast in Disney’s live action ‘The Jungle Book’ as Shere Khan, which seems just about right. And while TJ thinks the ‘Annie’ remake looks fantastic, Chad is quite a bit less than thrilled. TJ suspects he has had his heart removed. And the primary review is ‘Mr. Peabody and Sherman’ which was better than TJ was expecting but not as good as Chad would have liked. So they met in the middle.
