Redesign all the Things (for ‘Transformers 4’)

Redesign all the Things (for ‘Transformers 4’)
/Film

Mark Wahlberg is carrying over from Pain & Gain to the cast of Transformers 4, and is part of a movement to assemble a new cast for T4 to lead a new set of films. We know that Bay wants to do a few new things with the fourth installment, and that same interview that talks about being influenced by the working scale of Pain & Gain the director says that “we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom” for the latest sequel.

...

We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first…

‘Movie 43’ Is Not Good

‘Movie 43’ Is Not Good
Film.com

“Movie 43″ is a debacle of the highest order, featuring four total laughs and two decent sketches amongst its entire 85-minute runtime. Looking at the fractions of 4/85 and then factoring in the two decent bits sprinkled in during 15 total shorts, one could come to the conclusion that this was a tax write-off scheme. There’s simply no way they should have spent more than $30 bucks making this, it didn’t have any writing! Or jokes! Or acting! Watching it, you can’t help but channel Colonel Jessep from “A Few Good Men” a la “Please tell me there’s more, please tell me you haven’t pinned your…

‘jOBS’ Movie Scene Totally Wrong

‘jOBS’ Movie Scene Totally Wrong
Gizmodo

The first scene from iJOBS—the biopic on Steve Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher—may be pretty decent, but it never happened. Not even close, according to Steve Wozniak, who says they “never had such interaction and roles.”

Woz had this to say in a Gizmodo comment:

Not close…we never had such interaction and roles…I’m not even sure what it’s getting at…personalities are very wrong although mine is closer…don’t forget that my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn’t around and didn’t attend the club…

‘Gremlins’ Reboot?

‘Gremlins’ Reboot?
FilmoFilia

Sooner or later every pig gets eaten and every single film is going to get a remake or gritty reboot eventually. Now, it’s Gremlins turn!

Back in December, MovieHole reported that Warner Bros. had renewed the domain for Gremlins3.com which, if nothing else, supports the studios interest in keeping the franchise alive.

This time Vulture reports the studio is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to reboot the 1984 horror comedy Gremlins, which was originally directed by Joe Dante.

It is not known whether or not it would be a true sequel or, more likely, a reboot…

Jon Polito Comments on NYT ‘Gangster Squad’ Review

Jon Polito Comments on NYT ‘Gangster Squad’ Review
Huffington Post

New York Times film critic A.O. Scott is probably used to actors taking issue with his negative reviews. Last year, “Marvel’s The Avengers” star Samuel L. Jackson blasted Scott’s dismissal of the comic blockbuster by airing his grievances on Twitter. “NY Times critic AO Scott needs a new job!” Jackson tweeted.

Now another actor has come out against Scott’s barbs—though without as much vitriol as Jackson.

Jon Polito, a character actor famous for his parts in the Coen brothers’ films “Miller’s Crossing” and “The Big Lebowski,” left a comment on Scott’s pan of “Gangster Squad.” Polito has…

New York Times’ A. O. Scott Reviews ‘Gangster Squad’

New York Times’ A. O. Scott Reviews ‘Gangster Squad’
The New York Times

“Gangster Squad” is less a movie than a costume party run amok. Set in a late-’40s Los Angeles painted in cartoon colors rather than noir shadows, it is a hectic jumble of fedoras and zoot suits, stockings and cigarettes, and red femme-fatale dresses. The accessories of choice are guns of various calibers and styles, deployed to drown out — or perhaps to emphasize — knucklehead dialogue and inept storytelling.

This is post one of two on this subject. This is the review, and I have another linked list item coming up about this review.

And yeah, the entire review reads pretty much like…

Tarantino Blows Up in Interview

Tarantino Blows Up in Interview
Movieline

Quentin Tarantino probably had a vastly different idea of how the months leading up to the 85th Academy Awards would transpire for him. As he began to promote Django Unchained, he no doubt expected to spend the majority of Awards Season talking about America’s legacy of slavery, about his decision to portray it as unambiguously horrific, and how the peculiar institution has historically been treated in film.

No doubt.

In the interview, which I’ll embed below, Tarantino pretty much blew up, and the interviewer kept trying to come back to it, kept trying to get him to say something…

‘Jurassic Park IV’ Releases June of 2014

‘Jurassic Park IV’ Releases June of 2014
IGN.com

Universal announced today that it has slated Jurassic Park IV for a June 13, 2014 release.

Right now it only looks like Steven Spielberg will produce JPIV, although as Variety notes the director’s recent postponement of Robopocalypse raises an interesting possibility: “Spielberg has not committed to another film but given that Jurassic Park 4 is now the fast track, its not out of the question that he would step back in the directors chair.”

‘Star Wars’ Live Action TV Series

‘Star Wars’ Live Action TV Series
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

Surely, the first thing that came to people’s minds when they heard Disney bought out Lucasfilm was the possibility of more “Star Wars” films. That one was a given. Well, it turns out that Disney has much more in mind than just another “Star Wars” trilogy, how about a live action TV series as well?

ABC entertainment president Paul Lee recently told Entertainment Weekly that he was indeed interested in collaborating with Lucasfilm on a TV series the company had shelved a couple of years ago. “We’d love to do something with Lucasfilm, we’re not sure what yet,” Lee told the magazine.…

‘Bones’ Renewed for 9th Season

‘Bones’ Renewed for 9th Season
Entertainment Weekly

Most expected this to happen. But it’s never real until it’s real. And now it’s real.

Fox is bringing back its longest-running drama for a ninth season.

Bones will be return for another round, the network announced Tuesday. “After more than 150 episodes, Bones continues to be one of television’s most dynamic and consistent dramas,” said Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly. “We at Fox, along with millions of zealous fans, look forward to seeing where the incredible creative team takes the series next season.”

Well that’s annoying. This show is WAY past it’s prime, and very…
