‘Independence Day’ Sequels

‘Independence Day’ Sequels
Slash Film

The pair are still referring to the films as ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two and, in a new interview, Emmerich they’ll likely be shot in 2D and up-converted to 3D. Devlin also said they’re exploring a “lovable” tone as that was one of the surprising things people took out of the original. Read more after the jump.

I was not even aware there was a sequel in the works, let alone two. I’m not a huge fan of the original and I’m not a huge fan of Roland Emmerich. Still, it could be fun.

Joss Whedon Shepherding the Marvel Movie Universe

Joss Whedon Shepherding the Marvel Movie Universe
Slash Film

Whedon explained that his Marvel deal allows him to make other films like Much Ado About Nothing as he preps the next big stage of Marvel’s cinema. Part of Whedon’s job with the next stage of the MCU is acting as a sort of godfather, making sure that all the stories work together.

...

And he explains that The Avengers — specifically the team-building part of that story — is just the beginning of what he wants to accomplish with the world’s biggest hero team.

The creation of the team is not the happy ending. It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I…

Star Trek Sequel Title Confirmed

Star Trek Sequel Title Confirmed
TrekMovie.com

This is a title that comes out of a long process of discussion amongst the creative team. As reported earlier, Paramount tested a number of titles for the film over the summer, including at least one title that did not include “Star Trek.” Also noted in our earlier article, the title (by design) does not include a colon, like were used for the Next Generation films such as “Star Trek: First Contact” or “Star Trek: Nemesis.”

‘Fringe’ Boss Teases Three-Part Series Finale

‘Fringe’ Boss Teases Three-Part Series Finale
TV Line

Fringe showrunner J.H. Wyman is taking a particularly hands-on role in ushering the show into the sunset by directing the series finale. But when that sci-fi swan song will air is up for debate.

Earlier this week, Wyman himself told a fan on Twitter that the series finale would air Feb. 1, 2013. Fox declined to confirm that date; sources tell TVLine the finale will air sometime after Jan. 1, however.

...

All told, Wyman envisions and is structuring Fringe’s farewell tour “as a 13-hour feature film type of thing, like a saga, because I feel that’s the best way to tell the…

Morgan Freeman is Alive and Well

Morgan Freeman is Alive and Well

Last night I saw a couple people around the internet talking about the death of Morgan Freeman. Then I saw one of my Facebook friends liked a paged called R.I.P Morgan Freeman.

My first thought was, “my goodness how did I not know about this and why is it not on MovieByte?” So I started looking for the story. Turns out this is a complete hoax. Mr. Freeman has been the victim of a fake death scandal as he is actually alive and well.

The Examiner reports:

Morgan Freeman is a staple in pop culture so it only makes sense that word of his death would spread quickly. That is exactly what…

A Christmas Story 2

A Christmas Story 2
Screen Junkies

With relatively little fanfare, A Christmas Story has spawned a sequel, with Ralphie this time eying a car instead or an air rifle, which has the elements of a disturbing trend of materialism by the little imp.

No, no no no no no no no no. Please tell me this is a joke, a bad dream, not happening.

This looks like a truly horrible film.

Michael Clarke Duncan Dead at 54

Michael Clarke Duncan Dead at 54
TV Line

Oscar-nominated actor Michael Clarke Duncan passed away on Monday, seven weeks after suffering a heart attack, his fiancée Omarosa Manigault said in a statement to The Associated Press. He was 54.

Duncan was admitted to the hospital in mid-July after suffering a myocardial infarction, from which he never recovered; three weeks later, he was moved out of ICU but remained hospitalized.

Well, that’s a bummer. The Finder wasn’t my favorite TV show ever, but it was enjoyable and Michael’s Leo Knox was defintely a great character.
