The Avengers Will Assemble in February

The Avengers Will Assemble in February

Joss let loose that his team of Avengers will assemble for filming in February of 2014. Obviously we know that they would have to start filming in 2014 to make a May 2015 release date, but thus far we had not heard a start date for the filming. Now we’re honing in on it. Inquiring minds like to know this stuff.

Check out the video below for that and other goodies. Joss talks about having his fingers in all the pies over at Marvel, how the filming of the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot went, the secrecy surrounding the Marvel universe and how difficult that is, how his schedule with Marvel now does not…

Joseph Kosinski Interviewed about ‘Oblivion’

Joseph Kosinski Interviewed about ‘Oblivion’
Charlie Schmidlin - The Playlist

Ambition is clearly never waning for the architect-turned-filmmaker, and with “Oblivion” set to hit theaters stateside this week, we sat down with him to discuss the film’s long journey to the screen, in-camera special effects, and his relationship with Disney the entire time.

...

Did you meld advice like that from other directors, such as [early mentor] David Fincher?
David was really instrumental more when I first got to Los Angeles. He really loved my stuff, and actually helped me get my first commercial job, which was the “Gears of War” [“Mad World” spot] I did. David really…

Our “Jiving Jackalope” Reviews Podcatcher Options

Our “Jiving Jackalope” Reviews Podcatcher Options
Joe Darnell - Jiving Jackalope

These days podcast apps are abundant. Heck, you don’t need an app to listen to podcasts. Many people will discover podcasts online, then stream them from their web browser. This works, but I find it a flimsy way to digest content.

When you scout sites online for good podcasts it’s difficult to track them for new episodes as they become available. Apart from bookmarking those sites and visiting them weekly, there’s no realistic way to track them. So, the easy listening experience is to be had in an app dedicated to aggregating audio programs.

‘Captain America 2’ and Allegiances for ‘Avengers 2’

‘Captain America 2’ and Allegiances for ‘Avengers 2’
Germain Lussier - /Film

The pair said that the biggest thing they had to do when writing a movie to lead into The Avengers 2 was make sure the character loyalties were in a specific place. They also discussed how writing on Thor: The Dark World was a different experience, how much The Winter Soldier had changed from its initial outline, and how the sequel will put Captain America in a totally new place. Spoiler alert – they really love working with Marvel and want to continue to do so. Read the quotes below.

Here’s a snippet of our conversation.

Lots of good stuff here if you are a comic book movie geek such…

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Teaser Trailer

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Teaser Trailer

Now this is one I’m really looking forward to. Despite some of my irritations with the style of the first film and the characteristics of the filming, I found much more to like than to dislike about the first film (check out my review here, the fourth review ever written for MovieByte). Not the least of which is of course the cultural commentary carrying over the from the books.

And so far, though they seem to be changing some details from the books, they seem to be doing it in the right way. In fact I’m sort of hopeful that the films can correct some of the problems and weaknesses I…

‘Star Trek’ (and one ‘Star Wars’) Goodies

‘Star Trek’ (and one ‘Star Wars’) Goodies

First up is a 30 second TV spot from the UK (the spot also runs in Australia) for Star Trek Into Darkness and features a little bit of new footage, and a lot of already seen footage from the myriad of other trailers. Despite my skepticism and my lack of love for the new JJ-Verse of Star Trek I can’t help but start to get excited for another Star Trek film. I hope it’s better than the 2009 film.

Second, the 21st Century Orchestra performed the score for Star Trek 2009 live to a projection of the film. It looks pretty cool. Here are a couple of clips (and check out the whole article…

Across the Pond Media with Myke Hurley

Across the Pond Media with Myke Hurley
In the Queue Episode #12 - Que.am

How do the Brits consume their online video? I have no idea, but esteemed 5by5 host Myke Hurley does, which is why he joins me this week for a discussion about online media from across the pond. We discuss Freeview, BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Vdio and more. Thanks again to Myke for coming on the show; TJ should be back next with with regularly scheduled episodes.

Normally I co-host this show with Alex Arena, but given my crazy week last week I was unable to record episode 12 so Alex enlisted the help of fellow podcaster and media consumer / cable cutter Myke Hurley straight from the U.K. You…

Man, I have to tell you I only got 50% on this, and I’m in the business. It’s getting really hard to tell. A friend of mine that does 3D for a living only scored 75%. It’s a crazy world we’re living in. Some of those CGs look so real.
