Matt Damon Wakes Up — New Clip from ‘Elysium’

Matt Damon Wakes Up — New Clip from ‘Elysium’

We’ve got a new clip here from Elysium. It will be interesting to see what Blomkamp is up to here, no doubt. Friend and contributer Corey Poff is excited about the film, but I remain unconvinced that it will be a worthy film. But if my track record is any indication that should mean I’ll love it.

We’ll find out on August 9th. In the mean time, watch this clip and see if it does more for you than it’s doing for me. This is still failing to really capture my interst.

‘Escape Plan’ Trailer

‘Escape Plan’ Trailer

So I’ve seen this trailer a couple times now in the theaters, as well as watching it online a couple times. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me because I really can’t stand Sylvester Stallone and/or Arnold Schwarzenegger, but this film actually looks decent, it has actually captured my interest. I cannot say I have ever been interested in any films from either of these two before. I think what my problem is with them is that they are often cast in roles not well suited for them, or are involved in films so stupid as to actively reduce the IQ of anyone who even hears of it. This does not appear…

Another intense clip for ‘Gravity’

Another intense clip for ‘Gravity’

I hope I’m not disapointed by this film. I suspect that many might find it a little boring, even though what we are seeing is intense, I think the general movie-going audience wants a different type of intensity — you know, like super-heroes crashing around.

But I sort of suspect that I personally might like this film. But it really does depend on where it’s going, what the end of the film is like, and of course, how we get there.

Gravity premieres on October 4th.

‘In a World’ Clip

‘In a World’ Clip

In this clip from Lake Bell’s upcoming film, In a World, apparently Russian Storm Troopers will not find the droids they are looking for…

There’s something interesting looking to me about this film. And goodness knows Lake Bell is working her tail off for it. For this film she is writing, directing, producing, AND acting in the lead roll. That’s a WHOLE lot of work, let me assure you.

The story of this film is about the daughter of a veteran voice-over star who is looking to break into the business and battling to get voicing jobs for trailers that might be the next big film.

The film…

‘47 Ronin’ Trailer

‘47 Ronin’ Trailer

So, this looks interesting, even if Keanu Reeves still can’t act. But I daresay the film looks fairly interesting to me, though I can’t exactly say why.

One thing is for sure, this film has had a troubled journey. It comes from first time filmmaker Carl Rinsch, and was originally scheduled to hit the box office last November. That didn’t happen and it went through a few rough bumps and dates before finally landing on Christmas Day of this year.

After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their…

New Intense ‘Gravity’ Trailer is Intense

New Intense ‘Gravity’ Trailer is Intense

Did I mention this thing is intense? Holy cow! And it’s all one entire take. I had heard that much of the film is done through single long takes, and man that’s pretty crazy.

I still don’t know what to make of this film and whether it will be any good. The only other work that I’ve seen from director Alfonso Cuarón is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. While certainly not the worst film in the Harry Potter film adaptations, I felt like it could have been better, directorialy.

So, what does that mean for this film? Probably nothing at all. I’ll wait to see if this film is any good.

‘Veronica Mars’ Movie - Featurette/Trailer

‘Veronica Mars’ Movie - Featurette/Trailer

I know litterally nothing about the show. In fact, I hadn’t really heard of it until the Kickstarter campaign that went through the roof so yay for viral marketing and kickstarters and whatnot.

I don’t know if I’ll have time to catch up on the show and subsequently see the film any time soon, but for those of you who are fans and looking forward to this, I think this sneak peek video might be right up your alley.

This video appeared at SDCC. It features a couple of minutes of Featurette type material, followed by what is essentially a teaser trailer for the upcoming film. Also, there’s…

‘Riddick’ Red Band Trailer

‘Riddick’ Red Band Trailer

I don’t often post red band trailers, but sometimes I feel it necessary if I’ve mentioned a film, especially more than once, that is upcoming that I have been interested in. I do it so you can be sure to know what you are in for in case you decide to go see it based on my interest.

Well, let me tell you, this trailer is a red band for a reason. There’s not a lot of language, just one F-bomb, but there’s a whole lot of gore and blood and the like. You’ll want to make sure you don’t have a weak stomach before you watch this one. And if you can’t handle the trailer, best not head to the theater…

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Featuring Idris Elba

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Featuring Idris Elba

Since I’m on a Pacific Rim roll this morning, I thought I would also post a trailer featuring one of the primary actors from Pacific Rim, Idris Elba. The film also stars Naomie Harris of Pirates of the Carribean, and Skyfall fame.

The film is slated for release in the U.K., I have no information on when/if it might be releasing in the U.S. but I would definitely be interested in watching it. It looks like it could be very good.

A chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of…

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Theatrical Trailer

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Theatrical Trailer

I have a whole lot of saved stuff coming out of San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) over the weekend that I’m still sifting through. I feel about like Dug from Up: “Hey, this thing looks cool, I think I’ll post… SQUIRREL!”

This was the first item to catch my attention this morning when I looked at my queue, there will be more!

So this second film in The Hunger Games universe is directed by Francis Lawrence and featured all the same primary cast members, including of course, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark. Many of the cast members appeared on stage at…
