Trailers For TNG Remastered Season 7, and ‘All Good Things’ Series Finale

Trailers For TNG Remastered Season 7, and ‘All Good Things’ Series Finale

It’s that time again: time for me to write up a post about the latest addition to Star Trek remastered. But this time, it’s the final season of my favorite overall Star Trek series. The remastering of The Next Generation will now be complete. And as usual, there will also be a stand-alone release. It became quite a common thing to have two parters throughout TNG’s run, and often, they make great feature length “films”. I really loved the trend for two parters — it foreshadowed what was to come in DS9, with full season and even show arcs. While we (regrettably) never got season arcs with TNG,…

Trailer for Season 2 of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ — Returns September 23

Trailer for Season 2 of ‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ — Returns September 23

I know a lot of you didn’t like the show, but I certainly did. And I’m quite looking forward to season 2. And if you didn’t like the show, you may be interested in tuning in to season 2 because it does look like they’re changing the tone a bit. Season 2 looks to me like it will be darker. It makes sense given where The Winter Soldier and the episodes of Agents of SHIELD that were after The Winter Soldier left the universe. Yes, Guardians of the Galaxy is technically in this same universe and it was a lot of goofy fun. But it’s pretty disconnected from what else is going on in the universe…

Meet Baymax From Disney’s Upcoming ‘Big Hero 6’

Meet Baymax From Disney’s Upcoming ‘Big Hero 6’

Let me help you get even more excited for November 7th. That’s the date that Disney will release Big Hero 6 into theaters. I’m quite optimistic about this upcoming film. Marvel is involved as well — I mean, Marvel is owned by Disney, but they have maintained their own identity and operations. And they are working with Disney on this animated comic book film. I believe we are going to see the fingerprints on it. Additionally, remember that Disney has been putting out better animated films than Pixar. I have no proof, but I believe this is directly related to John Lasseter taking over at…

‘The Imitation Game’ Trailer

‘The Imitation Game’ Trailer

Yes, I can see the date on this video and I know it’s been out for a while. Frankly I have no idea how I missed it because it looks FANTASTIC! Obviously, for starters it stars Benedict Cumberbatch who has a range that goes from really, really good, to FREAKING AWESOME!. He looks to be tipping the scale more towards the latter in this trailer.

The film is about Alan Turing who helps crack the Enigma code during World War II. Just watch this trailer and I dare you not to come away excited for this film, which comes to theaters on November 14.

‘Rosewater’ Trailer — Jon Stewart’s Directorial Debut

‘Rosewater’ Trailer — Jon Stewart’s Directorial Debut

Jon Stewart is best known for The Daily Show which is a comedy where he tends to say things that kind of make us just a little uncomfortable on the inside. The reason is because he (and a couple others) do a better job on actual reporting and analysis sometimes than “real” “news” outlets. So while on the one hand it seems sort of odd that he’s gone full political drama for his first directorial debut, perhaps on closer inspection it’s not so surprising.

I don’t always agree with Jon’s politics — at least those politics I have been able to divine amidst the humor. Though I will say that on…

‘Trash’ Trailer Starring Rooney Mara

‘Trash’ Trailer Starring Rooney Mara

Let me get the bad news out of the way: There is no U.S. release date right now for this film. It’s going to premier at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival on September 24th. But I can tell you this, I want to see this film when it becomes available. It looks really good.

It stars a couple people that you “might” recognize such as Rooney Mara and Martin Sheen. But our primary protagonists are some boys from Brazil who have never been on camera before, Rickson Teves, Eduardo Luis and Gabriel Weinstein.

From what I can tell, the film appears to be a wonderful drama based on a novel…

‘Interstellar’ Extended IMAX TV Spot

‘Interstellar’ Extended IMAX TV Spot

Christopher Nolan brought us some of the best comic book films to date (yes, I’m factoring in Marvel’s hugely successful cinematic run), so it’s going to be interesting to see what he’s got for us now. It’s interesting that he’s staying pretty squarely in the realm of fantasy, and yet the film still feels — from the trailers at least — tremendously grounded in something that feels like reality. Very reminiscent in that way of the Dark Knight Trilogy.

And our wait for this next chapter in Nolan’s career is only just over two months away. I have a pretty good feeling about this film.

‘Nightcrawler’ Trailer — Jake Gyllenhaal Gets a Little Obsessive

‘Nightcrawler’ Trailer — Jake Gyllenhaal Gets a Little Obsessive

I wouldn’t consider myself a Jake Gyllenhaal fan but I think there might be something here in his latest upcoming film Nightcrawler (no, not that one). Strapped for cash and a little bit desperate, the guy gets into filming crimes. But the indication is that he takes it a little too far and hides evidence and covers things up when it helps him get a better story. In short, he because obsessed with the work in a very not good way.

‘Outcast’ Trailer — Nicolas Cage & Hayden Christensen Team Up in Ancient China

‘Outcast’ Trailer — Nicolas Cage & Hayden Christensen Team Up in Ancient China

After watching this trailer I don’t really have a good idea of what the plot is about. But I’m pretty sure I can tell you this film is going to be overwrought, over-acted, poorly acted, and it’s going to feature a pretty bad accent by Nicolas Cage (that’s when you can understand him and he’s not mumbling).

Oh, I also dare you to try to make sense of this official synposis:

Princess Lian and her younger brother, Zhao, flee for their lives when their father, the Emperor, is murdered by his ambitious eldest son Shing. Pursued by Shing’s black guards, the royal runaways find protection in the…

‘Mortdecai’ Trailer — Johnny Depp as a Suave and Sophisticated Idiot

‘Mortdecai’ Trailer — Johnny Depp as a Suave and Sophisticated Idiot

We all know that the insane idiot is a role Johnny Depp is well suited for. But what about the suave and sophisticated idiot. Well if this trailer is any indication, he’s again, the right fit for the role. I will caution that though the role seems to suite him well, you may not quite want to take your kiddos to see this one as you would, say, a Pirates of the Caribbean film (though, truthfully, I don’t let my kids see those just yet). This one looks to be a bit darker and more on the crass side of the humor spectrum. It almost seems a bit like a cross between Johnny English slapstick almost…
