If there’s one thing I’m really looking forward to in 2014, it’s the release of season 2 of House of Cards. It may be on the cutting edge of where things are headed by being available only on Netflix’s Video On Demand Service, but it’s also one of the most cinematic television shows I have ever watched. I definitely loved the first season for that aspect alone.

The Disney Channel has announced it is making a live-action TV movie featuring the children of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen, and Jafar called Descendants.

The movie will be directed by Kenny Ortega of Newsies and High School Musical fame which makes me wonder if it will be a musical.

It’s almost as if we were talking about this very sort of thing on The MovieByte Podcast #73. The thing is, in this case it actually sounds sort of interesting. But at the same time I’m sure not holding my breath.

This week we got our mid-season cliff-hanger for Agents of SHIELD, and it looks like when the show returns, we are finally going to get some answers on what happened to Coulson between his “death” in The Avengers, and his weekly appearance in Agents of SHIELD. But don’t take my phrasing for complaining, I’m actually happy with the suspense and the hints that have continually been dropped about what’s been going on with Coulson. I still have my suspicions as to what it might be, and whether I’m right or wrong, I should be happy. And of course there’s the possibility that we still won’t get the…

ABC’s cliffhanger-filled Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this Tuesday slipped to a new series low, drawing 6.1 million total viewers and a 2.1 demo rating, per finals — down 12 percent opposite a fresh episode of NCIS.

Oh come on! Why must every show I like wind up getting canceled? I don’t think it’s something wrong with me, I think it’s something wrong with you guys! Now, I mean we’re still a ways from a cancelation, but this is not good news. If ratings keep trending down like this then us fans of the show are going to be in for some bitter medicine. And we can complain about the ratings system…

Set to air on December 10th will be The Bridge, listed as the first in a two part story. Looking at the roster of returning actors you’ll see that J. August Richards, Ajani Wrighster, Cullen Douglas and Ruth Negga are all scheduled to return.

I’ve never been unhappy with the show yet. Indeed, it’s one of the highlights of my week. But even as I’m happy with it, I see room to grow and more potential for the show so I’m excited to seem the start to pull an wider story arc together and to bring back some characters we’ve already met and almost forgotten about.

Sparked by the success of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series, Abrams wasn’t optimistic about Star Trek returning to its roots on television, saying:

For those who, like me, won’t catch the part one of the pilot until tonight via Hulu, you are probably still quite interested in this trailer. The pilot is a two parter and part one debuted last night on broadcast TV. I have neither the time nor the inclination to make sure I’m in front of my TV at any set time. Hulu (or some service like it) is the future, and that’s the way I watch TV. At this time the (stupid) powers that be have decreed that Hulu must be delayed by a day. So I wait one day. I’ll be catching the pilot tonight and I am really looking forward tot his one!

I know we’re all about movies and stuff here at MovieByte, but I’m really enjoying Agents of SHIELD. And while this trailer for next week’s epside doesn’t tell us much, it’s always fun to try to dicipher some little tidbit or other.
