Frank Darabont To Direct ‘Snow White And The Huntsman 2,’ Kristen Stewart Might Not Return

Frank Darabont To Direct ‘Snow White And The Huntsman 2,’ Kristen Stewart Might Not Return
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Update: THR reports that the spinoff is now titled “The Huntsman” and Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron will return….but not Kristen Stewart.

So, remember all that talk about a “Snow White And The Huntsman” sequel, well you better check yourself before you wreck yourself, because it looks like the gameplan is changing. Yes, Universal still wants to make a followup, but they’re changing course a bit while hiring a pretty top tier name to be the guiding light.

Deadline reports that Frank Darabont — previously shortlisted with Gavin O’Connor and Andy Muschietti —is now in talks to direct a…

President Snow Has Peeta’s Support in Mockingjay Teaser

President Snow Has Peeta’s Support in Mockingjay Teaser

One of the films I’m quite excited for this year is Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Francis Lawrence did a fantastic job with Catching Fire and I can’t wait to see what he does with the next two films. James Newton Howard has also done fantastic work with the music and he’s back. The cast is back, they’re all back. This is part 1 and it’s due on November 21 in theaters, so naturally, we’re starting to see teasers. This is just the first of many. It’s actually an add from the Capitol and President Snow. I love this sort of viral marketing.

New ‘Predator’ Film Not Reboot But Inventive Sequel

New ‘Predator’ Film Not Reboot But Inventive Sequel
Adam Chitwood — Collider

While the initial report said that Black’s new Predator film would be a reboot, Black tells us that he and Dekker see the project as definitely not a reboot, “As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” Black said, adding “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?”  Black said he doesn’t like reboots generally, but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, noting that he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”

I really like this:

More often than not, a reboot is a lazy way of avoiding the…

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer 3

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer 3

Despite the very obvious influence of Michael Bay, I’m cautiously optimistc that this might just be good stupid fun. I have no delusions that it will be “good” but can it please just be better than Transformers?

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her…

‘Snowpiercer’ Trailer

‘Snowpiercer’ Trailer

I’ve had this in my Instapaper queue for several days, possibly before my vacation if memory serves, but I’ve finally gotten around to watching it. I am completely unfamiliar with this story but it seems like it could be a good sci-fi epic. But it also feels like it could just be cheesy and bad. Here is the description from IMDb:

In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off all life on the planet except for a lucky few that boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system evolves.

Check out the trailer and let me know what you think in…

Shane Black Will Direct ‘Predator’ Reboot

Shane Black Will Direct ‘Predator’ Reboot
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

It’s been four years since the Robert Rodriguez-produced, Nimrod Antal-directed “Predators,” a reboot of the franchise that kinda went nowhere. The film opened third at the box office in its first weekend, barely made more than $50 million domestic, and ultimately tallied up less than “Alien Vs. Predator” or “Aliens Vs. Predator - Requiem.” But Fox reckons it’s still a valuable property that people care about (or they’re gonna make them care about it) because barely four years on, plans are underway for a reboot.

I don’t know a lot about the Predator franchise because I’m really not just…

Harrison Ford’s Injury May Have Screwed Up Episode VII

Harrison Ford’s Injury May Have Screwed Up Episode VII
Rob Bricken — io9

Uh-oh. Please take out your official Star Wars: Episode VII Salt Lick, but now that it’s been officially revealed that Harrison Ford’s leg is broken, the rumor is he’ll be sidelined for six full months — which means the movie’s either getting delayed or massively rewritten.

The potential news comes from the UK-based site Jedi News, who says sources told them of an emergency meeting ay Pinewood Studios this morning to discuss how to handle Ford’s sudden unavailability. Since Ford’s Han Solo is reportedly the film’s lead, the only way to make its Christmas 2015 release date — which Disney has…

Angie Han — /Film

Though it picks up after the events Transformers: Dark of the MoonTransformers: Age of Extinction isn’t just a sequel but also a quasi-reboot. It introduces a new cast of human characters and is intended to jumpstart a fresh trilogy.

But for everything that’s changed about the series, more things have stayed the same — at least if the first reviews are to be believed. Hit the jump to read the early buzz onTransformers: Age of Extinction.

Jerry Bruckheimer Hopes ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′ Shoots Early in 2015

Jerry Bruckheimer Hopes ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′ Shoots Early in 2015
Russ Fischer — /Film

Will audiences, like battered old ships, soon have to weather a year-long barrage of new Pirates of the Caribbean marketing? While the Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp partnership with Disney isn’t what it once was — Bruckheimer doesn’t even have a deal with the studio any longer — there’s still a plan to make Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

The film has been in development for a while, with Kon-Tiki filmmakers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg set to direct from a script by Jeff Nathanson. Despite the fact that cast rumors have come up, however, Disney said earlier this year that the film…

Dean Devlin on the ‘Stargate’ Reboot

Dean Devlin on the ‘Stargate’ Reboot
Darren — GateWorld

Devlin hinted at what form the nextStargate movie may take, hinting that perhaps it may retell the story of the Gate’s discovery.

“Twenty years later, we can’t really do part two,” he said. “We have to start over from the beginning. So let’s reboot the series, put in all the things we couldn’t the first time, and set it up properly.”

Translation: We didn’t really get to do what we wanted to do with the original movie, or finish our trilogy. We know that there’s a lot of work out there since our movie, but we don’t like it and don’t want anything to do with it. We know there’s a big…
