Who is Daisy Ridley? (‘Star Wars VII’ Casting News)
Josh Dickey — Mashable

Daisy Ridley is a 5-foot-7 jazz singer, dancer and strong swimmer with dark hair, a native London accent, and a few minor television credits she gathered over the past year. She’s in her early 20s, and used to go by @daisyjazz on Twitter — before the account was disabled.

That’s about all we know about the lone “unknown” member of the Star Wars VII cast. Other than that she’s about to become very, very famous.

In the hours after Disney and Lucasfilm’s big casting announcement, Ridley’s acting reel was pulled down from Vimeo. She has no Wikipedia page; no photos on Getty Images (jeez, even

Extended ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Trailer Brings on the Feels

Extended ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ Trailer Brings on the Feels

My guess is you will want to have a box of tissues very close when you go to watch this one. And if you’re a guy, woe betide you should the secret of your less than manly emotionalism be discovered. At least that’s sure the kind of movie this looks like.

The film is based on the book by John Green and features Shailene Woodly as Hazel and Ansel Englort as Agustus Waters. Hazel and Agustus meet at a cancer support group and the two fall in love. But there’s no way this film is going to end on a super sweet surypy note because Hazel’s cancer is terminal while Augustus’ is in remission. That…

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Meet Wolverine

Everybody was talking up a big storm about how cool this looked and so I clicked and I was a little disappointed. But you know, it’s about a film I’m greatly looking forward to so I thought I’d go ahead and share it with the rest of you movie geeks. It’s not like we don’t already know who Wolverine is or anything, but you might be able to glean a few tidbits from this little piece.

‘Justice League’ Super Sequel to ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ Will Be directed by Zack Snyder

‘Justice League’ Super Sequel to ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ Will Be directed by Zack Snyder
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

We always knew that Warner Bros. were planning “Justice League,” but nothing was concrete. Last summer there were rumors that “The Flash” would drop in 2016, followed by “Justice League” a year later, but with “Batman Vs. Superman” now taking the ‘16 slot, that doesn’t seem likely (not to mention that whispers of a movie around “The Flash’ seem to have quieted). But today, WB has pulled the curtain back (somewhat) on their plans.

The Wall Street Journal reports that WB has made it official that “Justice League” is happening, though there are a few caveats. Firstly, the script is still being…

Joss Whedon Is Having Fun With Ultron

Joss Whedon Is Having Fun With Ultron
Jesse Giroux — JoBlo

Whedon starts by saying the new characters in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON like Baron Von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) serve a purpose, and are necessary for the story he is trying to tell.

I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that. But last time I had all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict.

The director continues by saying he’s having a lot of fun with James Spader‘s Ultron.

I’m having a blast with Ultron. He’s not a…

Ray Fisher Cast as Cyborg in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Ray Fisher Cast as Cyborg in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’
Russ Fischer — /Film

The potential Justice League roster just expanded by one in Zack Snyder‘s new vision of the DC Universe. Theater actor Ray Fisher (not the football player) has been cast as Cyborg in Batman vs. Superman. Since Fisher just played Muhammed Ali in a play staged in New York, he should have the chops to sign on as Cyborg.

Variety reports that the character won’t have a large role in the film, but his role could expand as Warner Bros. preps more DC Universe films. That raises more questions than it answers, really. Variety says “[Cyborg] will become a much more significant role as Warner and D.C.…

‘Star Wars VII’ Budget Around $200 Million — George Lucas Consulting

‘Star Wars VII’ Budget Around $200 Million — George Lucas Consulting
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

“We actually don’t even have the completed budget yet. But it will be in that range. These large, tentpole kinds of movies, on the expensive side, are in the neighborhood of $175-200 million, that kind of a number — some are more, some are less,” Horn shared. “We need to give the audience, essentially, a full meal in return for their affection and devotion and love for these properties.”

And who better to ensure that the audience gets what it wants/deserves than George Lucas? Even though he soldLucasfilm to Disney for billions and has said repeatedly he’s retired, Horn reveals he’s still…
