Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the screenwriting and producing duo who have worked on some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises(Mission:Impossible, Transformers, Star Trek,the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2) have decided to end their feature film partnership so they can both pursue directing careers.  Their company, K/O Paper Products, will not dissolve, however.  The two are will continue to collaborate on various television projects, both current and upcoming.

Until X-Men: Days of Future Past opens, we won’t know who survives and what shape they’re in. But there’s no question that Fox will be making more X-Men movies to follow it, starting with X-Men: Apocalypse. But what about the classic cast — is this year’s film their swan song, with the exception of Hugh Jackman? That’s seemed likely, given past statements from Singer such as “[Apocalypse will]  introduce familiar characters in a younger time,” and the general sense that Apocalypse is a sequel to First Class.

In an interview with Crave Online, X-Men: Days of Future Past writer and producer Simon Kinberg was asked to clear things up in regards to Anna Paquin’s role in the “inbetweenquel”. DreamWorks has released the first five minutes of How to Train Your Dragon 2 and I have to say, it’s pretty awesome. I have recently sat myself down and watched the first How To Train Your Dragon film and it was amazing. This makes me very hopeful for the second installation in this franchise. I’m liking what I see so far. And the world has so utterly changed from what was going on in the first film that it will be interesting to see where they go with the story.

Finally, we actually get a pretty good look at the beast. Let’s just say he’s massive. There’s not a lot else remarkable about this TV spot. So watch it, then make sure the YouTube settings are set to full HD, and go to around :25 in this spot and pause it for a good gander at this beast in full HD glory. He looks pretty legit, eh?

Just before Christmas, it was reported that Anna Paquin’s Rogue had been cut from Bryan Singer’s film, but fans rejoice, because it appears she’s back. Sorta. The folks at Buzzfeed noticed her name in the credits of the recent trailer, made a few calls, and have confirmed Paquin is indeed going to appear. “Essentially, [it’s] a cameo,” a rep at the studio said. So keep your eyes open.

While it may be just a cameo, Vulture adds that it’s a pivotal scene to the plot of the movie. What’s more, “three more mutants filmed secret cameos in the film” but…

I’m telling you, this looks like a lot of fun. There’s still some quetions marks hovering over it for me and I could see it being not so good. But I’m going to look forward to it anyway and hope I’m not disappointed.

Cue Aerosmith’s “Dude Looks Like a Lady” on your tape deck: Fox 2000 Pictures is developing a sequel to the 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire. And lest you worry that they’ll cast Zac Efron in the title role (actually, we might watch that movie), the plan is to reunite original star Robin Williams with director Chris Columbus, as The Hollywood Reporter first reported. Elf writer David Berenbaum is attached to pen the script.

Last we heard, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the series, has not yet been greenlit by Disney. That hasn’t stopped producer Jerry Bruckheimer from claiming the sequel will be shooting before year’s end. He also claims that Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be up and running by then as well.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was originally set to be released July 10, 2015, in a summer overcrowded with tentpole blockbusters. It was delayed so that directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning could revamp the script byJeff Nathanson.
