‘Ender’s Game’ Timeline

‘Ender’s Game’ Timeline
TOR.com

Lion’s Gate has just put out a timeline of humanity’s future history leading up to the events of Ender’s Game. It’s a very handy reference if you haven’t read the book. (Although a couple of things at the end are a bit spoiler so we’ve blotted those out.) Check it out below! Click the image to see the full-size (1 MB+) timeline.

This looks only slightly different from the book and I’m certainly not going to quibble with any of that.

Do be aware that though they blocked out spoilers at the very end, there is actually something of a big spoiler right in the middle, actually a bit near the…

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel ‘London Has Fallen’ is In the Works

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel ‘London Has Fallen’ is In the Works
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Gerard Butler! That’s right, the man who led “Olympus Has Fallen” this spring to a rather surprising $161 million worldwide (not bad for something on a $70 million budget, and a better ROI than the $204 million haul versus $150 million budget of “White House Down”) is back for “London Has Fallen.” LOL, OMG. Even better (worse?), Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell will return too, with everyone reprising their respective roles. So what, pray tell, is the plot? Well, it won’t be the president in danger this time.

Instead, the story will find the president…

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Trailer 2

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Trailer 2

I must make a confession: I have only seen one Martin Scorsese film — I absolutely loved it. That would be the Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta staring Goodfellas. Having loved that film so much, it seems a crime to me that I have not been exposed to more of his film. I therefore fully intend to see this film even though the trailers have not gotten me super pumped just yet. I’m actually not sure what I would have thought about a Goodfellas trailer before I had seen the film but I’m guessing about the same way I feel about The Wolf of Wall Street at this point: meh. So I’m willing to give this…

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Trailer

Oh man, oh man, oh man! This is going to be soooooo good. I can already see I’m glad to have Bryan Singer back at the helm. This trailer has the tone that made his first two X-Men films so good. Of course as expected from the title, this film is about the mingling and crossing over of the past and the future. And probably about setting some things right that Brett Ratner screwed up.

But this… this is going to be epic you guys! I can’t wait. May 23rd, 2014 can’t come soon enough!

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Moved to January Release

‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Moved to January Release
Pamela Gocobachi - Entertainment Weekly

EW has confirmed that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit has dropped off the Christmas release schedule and will now open Jan. 17, 2014.

The Paramount Pictures’ action movie is based on characters from late author Tom Clancy and stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) as a young CIA analysis who uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack. Kenneth Branagh (Valkyrie), Kevin Costner (Man of Steel), and Kiera Knightly (Anna Karenina) will also star alongside Pine in the upcoming action thriller directed by Kenneth Branagh.

That’s not a good sign. When’s the last time we saw a…

‘Planes: Fire and Rescue’ Trailer — Ugh

‘Planes: Fire and Rescue’ Trailer — Ugh

Oh, no no no no no no… I think it’s safe to say that if Disney’s Planes was ever any good, or going to be any good it has officially jumped the shark now. I mean, ugh. Who wants to watch this??? This sort of thing, by the way, is why I was not a happy camper when Disney bought out Pixar. On the one hand, they have allowed Pixar to remain Pixar and not tampered too much, to my surprise (although one could argue that Pixar’s quality has gone down in recent years, I’m not convinced that Disney’s fault though), but they do have the rights to Pixar’s properties. And Disney will be Disney. They…

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Final Trailer

“Miss Everdeen, would you like to be in a real war?” President Snow wants to know. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out in just 24 days. Given that short period of time, the studio has seen fit to release to us the final trailer.

This one is going to be a good one, guys. This trailer is only a minute, but it’s got me ready to get myself to the theater and watch. Of course I’ll have to wait until November 22. Have a look:

Michael Arndt Departs ‘Star Wars VII’

Michael Arndt Departs ‘Star Wars VII’
Edward Davis - The Playlist

Celebrated Pixar scribe Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3,” “Brave,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), who is known for a persuavsive screenwriting talk he made about the storytelling power of the “Star Wars” series is no longer writing the screenplay. According to breaking news by StarWars.com, Arndt has been replaced by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams himself. Kasdan (who wrote “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return Of The Jedi”) of course, was hired to help out with ideas on “Episode VII” and also pen some of the “Star Wars” spin-off films (along with “X-Men” scribe Simon Kinberg).

Stink! I don’t like…

Joss Whedon, Marvel, and the Future

Joss Whedon, Marvel, and the Future
Rob Keyes - ScreenRant

In addition to helming the next team-up event, Whedon is helping oversee all of the Phase Two movies leading up to it and crafting a live-action TV series (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), all of which are building up to The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

By design, Whedon’s therefore also laying the groundwork for Phase Three and beyond which begins with new superhero franchise Ant-Man in 2015 – but will he be involved with the lead-up to The Avengers 3?

At the press junket for Thor: The Dark World, our own Kofi Outlaw asked Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige about the future…

First Trailer for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

First Trailer for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Wow, so this is an entirely different flavor than the first film. I don’t know how I feel about that yet because I really liked the first Captain America film. And I’ve heard things about the direction this film is taking that have me somewhat concerned.

Still, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done an outstanding job so far so I guess I’ll try not to be too worried. And some things about this trailer look really good, for sure.

Here’s the official synopsis followed by the trailer.

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”…
