A New ‘Gravity’ Trailer

A New ‘Gravity’ Trailer

It’s going to be an intense film, that’s for sure. At least according to this trialer. Frankly I have no idea where exactly this film can go with this plot and how long it can maintain the intensity. Can we really spend two hours with Sandra Bullock floating around helplessly in space? We’ll see soon enough because this film will come out on October 4th. I think it might be good but it has some hurdles to overcome for sure.

But with a new superhero comes a new female lead. By now everyone knows Ben Affleckwill be playing Batman in the film, and the latest reports suggest the director is looking for a strong female love interest for the Caped Crusader.

Latino Review got their hands on a casting breakdown that’s circulating at the talent agencies, which they describe as follows:

They’re looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities…. They’re being very specific and looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality.

This cannot end well…

‘Runner Runner’ Trailer

‘Runner Runner’ Trailer

I don’t think I’m really all that interested in this film, but it does have Ben Affleck in it, and I’ve liked him in what I’ve seen him in. On the other hand, he did just agree to be Batman in a film I’m pretty sure I’m going to hate. And I’m pretty sure he’s the wrong choice to play Batman. But that’s neither here nor there. This film doesn’t look awesome, but who knows, maybe it will be okay.

The Keanu Reeves Trailer Edition — ‘Man of Tai Chi’ and ‘47 Ronin’

The Keanu Reeves Trailer Edition — ‘Man of Tai Chi’ and ‘47 Ronin’

If you like Keanu Reeves, boy are you going to be happy with this. I’ve got two trailers here for you: Man of Tai Chi, and 47 Ronin.

Man of Tai Chi is Keanu Reeves directorial debut, and trust me when I say it looks absolutely terrible. I’d like to give the guy a chance as a directory, but honestly this just looks plain awful.

And I don’t know what it is with Reeves and these oriental marital arts things, but this second trailer is for 47 Ronin, which is very Japanese. I’m not sure what to think of this one. I have a little bit of a bad feeling about it but I like to keep a positive spirit…

Andrew Davis (‘The Fugitive’) Planning Modern Telling of ‘Treasure Island’
Matt Goldberg - Collider.com

There is a glut of public-domain adaptations in the Hollywood pipelines, but The Fugitive directorAndrew Davis has one that might be worth keeping an eye on.  While doing press for The Fugitive‘s 20th anniversary Blu-ray release, Davis told CraveOnline, “I’m currently putting together a modern version of Treasure Island set in post Katrina Louisiana called Thieves Fortune.”  For those unfamiliar with the plot of Robert Louis Stevenson‘s 1883 novel, it centers on Jim Hawkins and a collection of odd characters, and their search for buried treasure on the eponymous island.  It’s perhaps the…

More On Cumberbatch in ‘Star Wars’ - Probably Playing a Villain
Isaac Feldberg - We Got This Covered

As we previously reported, rumors have been making their way around the web that Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of BBC’s Sherlock, may join the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Now, Badass Digest claims to have heard that Cumberbatch is up for the major role of a Sith villain, who will menace the series’ new protagonists throughout the trilogy.

Considering that Star Trek helmer J.J. Abrams is the man behind the new Star Wars installment, it’s not totally shocking that Cumberbatch might be at the top of the director’s shortlist for the part of a villain. After all, the British thesp knocked…

Because I Should Probably Publish Something about ‘Rush’

Because I Should Probably Publish Something about ‘Rush’

I haven’t posted about this film yet because I’m not really interested in it. I’m just not into race cars and the like and despite the fact that it looks like there may be a story here I can’t get into it. Still, I run a film site so I should publishing something about it, right?

I’ve been seeing the trailer for this film for a while both online and in theaters and I have to say, none of these are doing a lot for me to get me interested. But, I expect some of you will be interested in this film, so here you go.

What do you guys think? Should I get more interested in this film?

Here Comes Loki… I mean Thor — ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Extended TV Spot

Here Comes Loki… I mean Thor — ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Extended TV Spot

Remind me which one of these guys Thor: The Dark World is about because I’m confused. Is this about Thor, or Loki?

Seriously though, I’m expecting to like this film a lot — it should be WAY better than the first Thor film. And it sure looks like they aren’t messing around in this film, there’s going to be lots of destruction and high stakes.

Pixar Removes Bob Peterson from ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Pixar Removes Bob Peterson from ‘The Good Dinosaur’
Rebecca Keegan - LATimes

Pixar Animation has removed the director of its 2014 film, “The Good Dinosaur,” and not named a replacement, marking the fourth time in eight movies that the Emeryville studio has made a director change midstream.

With the film’s release date fast approaching and various creative choices unmade, Pixar executives decided to replace director Bob Peterson this summer, according to the studio’s president, Ed Catmull.

This does not bode well.

“All directors get really deep in their films,” Catmull said this week. “Sometimes you just need a different perspective to get the idea out. Sometimes…

Kurt Russell in Talks for ‘Fast and Furious 7’

Kurt Russell in Talks for ‘Fast and Furious 7’
Germain Lussier - /Film

Casting Russell in Fast and Furious 7 gives this installment an almost instant superiority over the other films. We already know Jason Statham is a major villain in this movie, and that was a big “get” on its own. But Russell’s involvement (and the fact they initially offered the role to Washington) suggests a role of even greater importance. Maybe something like a big boss.

Cannot. Stiffle. Yawns…
