‘World War Z’ Sequel is In the Cards (video)

‘World War Z’ Sequel is In the Cards (video)

We’re certainly talking about it, yes. We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent just developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work.

So what that means to me is that, yes, we’re moving forward with a sequel if we can get the studio to hop on board even though the film was not as big a money maker as they might have hoped. It was still a money maker so we hope they will go forward with it.

Possible Title for ‘Star Wars VII’?

Possible Title for ‘Star Wars VII’?
Gabriel Gray - TalkBacker

Treat this as a rumour, but as of right now I have two sources confirming this information as accurate. So with that in mind, I bring it to you.

Here is what I heard from my source:

“…title I’m hearing is A New Dawn.”

So I sat on this for a few days and contacted a number of sources and awaited a response, then not long ago I received contact from another of my sources confirming it.

“there will be many potential titles by now, but yes that is a title I have heard mentioned. So do with that what you will.”

The mails I received from the source who gave me this information, also…

Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’ is Tense In a Good Way

Paul Greengrass’ ‘Captain Phillips’ is Tense In a Good Way
Drew Taylor - The Playlist

“It’s like the last half hour of ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ but for the whole movie.” That was someone’s description of “Captain Phillips” when we quizzed them about the film earlier today. The film, which stars Tom Hanks as the titular captain of the Maersk Alabama, a ship that found itself under siege by Somali pirates back in 2009, was directed by “United 93” and “Bourne Ultimatum” filmmaker Paul Greengrass, whose last feature, the troubled Matt Damon vehicle “Green Zone,” proved an underwhelming and costly flop. But by all accounts from those who have seen it, “Captain Phillips” is the director…

On Cumberbatch and ‘Star Wars VII’

On Cumberbatch and ‘Star Wars VII’

So the question on everyone’s mind now is, will Benedict Cumberbatch be in Star Wars, or won’t he? If he is, or even if he’s in negotiations, he and his are sure downplaying it all.

Niki Stephens — JoBlo.com →

To all of you ladies and gentlemen, you may feel a little saddened to hear that those rumors aboutBenedict Cumberbatch taking a role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII are just rumors. While promoting THE FIFTH ESTATE, the actor told Access Hollywood this:

“This is the simple truth. J.J. [Abrams] and I have worked together before. I would love to work with him again. No offer has been made.…

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Tickets Available on October 1st
Andrew Asare - Entertainment Weekly

With only twelve weeks to go before release, Lionsgate announced Friday that tickets for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will go on sale starting October 1st, at 12p.m. ET / 9a.m. PT with advance movie tickets available through Fandango and MovieTickets.com.

I will probably go ahead and get mine on October 1st. I’ve made a reminder for myself on my calendar. Cannot wait! The film releases on November 22.

Also, I found this little tidbit fun:

The first installment broke records for advance ticket sales, outpacing the Twilight series.

Good. Somewhat famously, I didn’t hate the…

More ‘Riddick’ On The Way?

More ‘Riddick’ On The Way?
Rob Keyes - ScreenRant

It took 10 years for a sequel to 2003′s Chronicles of Riddick to become a reality and the long journey to its theatrical release involved everything from licensing hurdles and scheduling conflicts to financial woes, but Vin Diesel and David Twohy’s passion for the character, and Diesel’s motivational social media fanbase helped make the project a reality.

In what Diesel himself describes as a “miracle,” Riddick is back and the star hopes it’s not just a one-shot and that it’s the beginning of a continuation of the film franchise.

In our full Riddick interview with David Twohy, the writer…

The ‘Robocop’ Trailer Is Here

The ‘Robocop’ Trailer Is Here

“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.” This new Robocop film, which is a remake of the 1987 film staring Peter Weller as the man in the Robocop suit. The film is directed by José Padiha and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Abby Cornish.

The obvious drive of the plot, or at least the one they are letting us in on, is that there is a war between the man and the machine, between him and the system. Who’s in control. who’s making the decisions? This is the obvious takeaway from this trailer.

Angie Han - /Film

Now the iconic British character is being reimagined yet again, this time by an iconic British actor. Ian McKellen will play a retired Sherlock Holmes for Bill Condon‘s A Slight Trick of the Mind, based on the novel by Mitch Cullin.

According to the official announcement from Icon/AI Films, Slight Trick of the Mind will shoot next April in the U.K. Jeffrey Hatcher (Stage Beauty) is writing the screenplay.

Well… huh. Apparently there is a series of books out there about an elderly Sherlock Holmes. Who knew, right?

Roland Emmerich to Stargate Fans: “Drop Dead”

Roland Emmerich to Stargate Fans: “Drop Dead”
Darren - Gateworld.net

Yeah, okay, my headline is a bit harsh, but that’s the way I heard it.

Roland Emmerich, who directed and co-wrote the original 1994 film, is optimistic that the pitch for a rebooted Stargate movie trilogy will go forward. But in a new interview with Digital Spy, he did not say that the studio has officially given the project a green light — contrary to what online news outlets are suggesting today.

We know that Emmerich and co-writer Dean Devlin haven’t given up on their hopes of a big-budget movie trilogy — which was their original plan before MGM acquired the rights to Stargate and…

Alan Taylor to Direct Next ‘Terminator’ Film
Drew Taylor - The Playlist

Alan Taylor has officially claimed the iron throne. The “Game of Thrones” director, whose big-budget Marvelproject “Thor: The Dark World” opens this fall (the footage we saw at D23 was officially “quite good”), has been named the director of the next “Terminator” film from Annapurna Pictures and Paramount. The next entry in the time traveling cyborgs franchise is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2015, along with every other huge movie ever.

Yeah, here’s the thing though:

The new “Terminator” feature, which doesn’t have a name or even a subtitle yet, is being written by James…
