Hayley Atwell Joins Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella

Hayley Atwell Joins Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Hayley Atwell—probably best known to nerds as Peggy from “Captain America: The First Avenger” and the upcoming “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter”—has tweeted today, “Shooting Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella in Pinewood this week.” No word yet on her role, but she joins an already impressive cast for Disney‘s live action reboot, that includes Lily James in the lead, Cate Blanchett as the Evil Stepmother, and “Game Of Thrones” star Richard Madden as the prince, along with Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera as the stepsisters. Maybe Atwell is rounding out that trio? We’ll find out soon enough. The…

Joss Whedon on Ultron And Differing From Comics

Joss Whedon on Ultron And Differing From Comics
James Hibberd - Entertainment Weekly

Created by a scientist in the Marvel comics, Ultron is a self-aware robot who develops a lust for power. He has a laundry list of abilities — super-human strength, speed, stamina, durability, flight, mind control, a coma ray and a genius intellect. For Avengers: Age of Ultron, Whedon reveals to Entertainment Weekly in this week’s cover story that he’s stripping back some of Ultron’s abilities and will find a way to humanize — to some degree — the angry bot.

“I knew right away what I wanted to do with him,” Whedon says. “He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he’s got a bee…

Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch Instead of Saoirse Ronan

Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch Instead of Saoirse Ronan
Brendon Connelly - Bleeding Cool

According to my sources, Saoirse Ronan has passed on the role of Wanda Maximoff, The Scarlet Witch, in The Avengers: Age of Ultrondespite being, at some point or another, Joss Whedon‘s top pick for the role.

Unfazed, however, Whedon and Marvel then moved their attentions on to Elizabeth Olsen.

I always feel awkward reporting on these “second choice” moments, but then I remember how Harrison Ford probably hasn’t ever woken up in a cold sweat from a Tom Selleck nightmare and I feel a bit better about it.

Olsen is a great choice, I think, because she’s a pretty good choice for anything. The…

Longer Trailer for ‘The Counselor’

Longer Trailer for ‘The Counselor’

Sex, drugs and violence. There’s going to be lots and lots of violence in this film methinks. And they’re definitely putting a little sex in this trailer, though if my past experience is any indication, virtually all of it is in the trailer (I hope that’s the case).

The film is written by Cormac McCarthy who penned No Country For Old Men for the Coen Brothers. And of course it is helmed by sometimes esteemed directory Ridley Scott who has directed a few hits here and there.

I’m still not sure what exactly to think of this film, but I am at least finally starting to get a feel for the…

‘Squirrels’ Trailer Features… Killer Squirrels?!?

‘Squirrels’ Trailer Features… Killer Squirrels?!?

What the…? Wait, I don’t even… Wait, what?!?

Words are failing me, and any of you who know me, that’s quite a feat. This film apparently features a town under attack from flesh-eating squirrels after a natural gas company buys up a town and destroys their food chain through environmental destruction. Yeah, it really does look bad. See for yourself.

‘Star Wars Episode VII’ May Get December, 2015 Release

‘Star Wars Episode VII’ May Get December, 2015 Release
Adam Chitwood - Colider.com

When Disney first announced that it had purchased Lucasfilm and was planning a new trilogy of Star Wars movies, the release date for the first film was penciled in for 2015.  While an official release date has yet to be announced, Disney President Alan Horn confirmed that Episode VII will hit theaters in 2015 when speaking at the studio’s recent D23 convention.  Many have assumed that a May 2015 release date is the most likely, since all six previous Star Wars films were released in May, but now a new report has surfaced claiming that Disney is actually eyeing a different release date…

Samuel L. Jackson Talks ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

Samuel L. Jackson Talks ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’
ComingSoon.net

“You see Nick Fury the office guy, him going about the day-to-day work of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the politics as opposed to that other stuff. It’s great to have him dealing with Captain America in terms of being able to speak to him soldier to soldier and try to explain to him how the world has changed in another way while he was frozen in time. Some of the people who used to be our enemies are now our allies — him trying to figure out, “Well, how do we trust those guys?” or “How do we trust the guys that you didn’t trust who don’t trust you? And explaining to him that the black and white of good…

Conan Bribes Harrison Ford for ‘Star Wars’ Details (Video)

Conan Bribes Harrison Ford for ‘Star Wars’ Details (Video)

If you were wondering whether bribery would work to get Harrison Ford to spill the beans with any details for the upcoming Star Wars film, you might want to watch this video in which we find out the answer to that burning question. Conan is willing to shell out $1,000 to get those details, and Ford is willing to take $1,000.

I’ll say this, Ford is loving this and he’s hamming it up in the things like this I’ve seen him doing. It’s pretty good stuff.

Nathan Fillion Probably Won’t Be Batman

Nathan Fillion Probably Won’t Be Batman
Sandra Gonzalez - Entertainment Weekly

Whether Christian Bale has or has not been offered $50 million to reprise his role as Batman in Man of Steel 2 remains a mystery. (He probably hasn’t.) But with the suit officially unoccupied – as of now– the race is on to find a new Batman. But one name you can probably cross off your list? Castle star and generally geek-loved actor Nathan Fillion.

“I wonder if my throat could take it,” he said, joking that he doesn’t believe he has the vocal stamina to mimic Batman’s gravelly voice. “I think I’d make an excellent Bruce Wayne; I think I’d make a terrible Batman.”

Hahaha, I love it! I…

Ewan McGregor To Reprise Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Ewan McGregor To Reprise Obi-Wan Kenobi?

In a short clip from Digital Spy, Ewan McGregor discusses the idea of returning to Star Wars as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Of course the thing is that any time we’ve seen force-ghost Obi-Wan, he was played by Sir Alec Guinness who, when he appeared as Obi-Wan, was much older than Ewan McGregor. Now of course, there is that controversial swithceroo in the 2004 DVD version of the original trilogy in which Hayden Christensen replaces the pervious actor as the Anakin Skywalker force ghost so maybe they think they can explain a differing appearance by saying that force ghosts can take on any appearance they…
