Whedon Says No ‘Avengers 2’ Without Robert Downey Jr.

Whedon Says No ‘Avengers 2’ Without Robert Downey Jr.
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

“He is Iron Man,” Whedon told The Daily Beast. “He is Iron Man in the way that Sean Connery was James Bond. I have no intention of making ‘Avengers 2’ without him, nor do I think I’ll be called upon to do that. I don’t think it’s in my interest, Marvel’s interest, or his interest, and I think everything will be fine.”

You know what? We think everything will be fine too, for the simple fact that no one is going to want to see “The Avengers 2” without Iron Man/Tony Stark or with someone like, I dunno, Paul Walker subbing in there instead.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure any Avengers without Iron…

‘World War Z’ “Shows Signs of Life”

‘World War Z’ “Shows Signs of Life”
Oliver Gettell - Los Angeles Times

Speculation has swirled ever since “World War Z”, the forthcoming zombie disaster movie starring and co-produced by Brad Pitt, was pushed from last winter to this summer by Paramount Pictures to allow for a wholesale rewrite and a reshoot of its final act. Such drastic changes so late in production rarely bode well for the success of a film, but some early reviews suggest “World War Z” might not end up dead—or undead—on arrival.

In a glowing review, Variety’s Scott Foundas says the film “emerges as a surprisingly smart, gripping and imaginative addition to the zombie-movie canon.” He…

‘World War Z’ TV Spot

‘World War Z’ TV Spot

So I might as well get around to posting this even though, from what I can tell thus far, I am not at all interested in this film. I mean I can’t even really tell what it’s about so far. I get that maybe the mystery is supposed to be what is causing whatever it is that is happening, but I can’t even tell what is happening. All I can see in the trailers thus far is people climbing all over each other trying to run from something, shooting at nothing, etc. Am I blind, am I just missing something here, am I dense? Help me out in the comments guys!

Here’s the TV spot, and since I haven’t…

‘Man of Steel’ Easter Egg

‘Man of Steel’ Easter Egg
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

MINOR(ish) SPOILERS FOR MAN OF STEEL FOLLOW.

“The Wayne Enterprises logo is on a satellite that Zod destroys,” Zack Snyder told Omelete (via Collider). Oh damn. Of course, the inevitable next question that followed was whether or not Batman and Superman were going to team up in any future movies, and as always, Snyder remained tight-lipped.

“I don’t know. Everything is interesting at this point. And don’t forget that Lex is out there, doing who knows what…,” he said, which at very least suggests that should “Man Of Steel Rises” or whatever happens, you can probably bet good money Lex…

Two Clips from ‘Byzantium’

Two Clips from ‘Byzantium’

So, this film is looking pretty weird, and more so the more I learn about it. But, since we’ve been talking about it and I’ve already posted a few things about it I figured I might as well follow through with it, at least for now.

Watch these clips and you’ll see what I mean by the weirdness — especially the second clip where Saoirse Ronan’s character appears to meet herself and it’s the end of time or something. Pretty strange. I’m sure it will make more sense in the context of the story (one can only hope).

‘Man of Steel’ 13 Minute Featurette

‘Man of Steel’ 13 Minute Featurette

Who’s excited for the upcoming Man of Steel? Many are already saying it’s going to be the biggest and best film of the summer. They might be right. As I have mentioned before, I have been slowly working my way up toward feeling good about this film. At this point I am ready to see it for sure!

This behind the scenes featurette is fantastic, really giving us a nice glimpse into the mindset of the director and the actors, really letting us in behind the scenes to see what’s going on.

If you are looking to get more excited and ramped up for Man of Steel I’ve got your fix right here. And yes, there is even more clips from the film that we have not yet seen.

Also look for my next article within the next few minutes because I’ll have a 13 minute featurette coming right on the coat tails of this post.

Enjoy.

Mendes to Direct ‘Bond 24’ And Possibly ‘Bond 25’

Mendes to Direct ‘Bond 24’ And Possibly ‘Bond 25’
Dave Trumbore - Collider.com

It looks like director Sam Mendes (Skyfall) is double dipping in the James Bond negotiations as it’s being reported that he’s locked Bond 24 and appears very likely to direct Bond 25.  Mendes was recently reported as being both opting out of the next installment, then in talks to direct it and now unofficially confirmed by ShowBiz411.

Of the Bond films I have seen, Skyfall is the best so this is good news to me. It’s kind of odd, all the back and forth though. “He’s directing, no he’s done directing Bond, oh never mind he’s going to do not just one, but the next TWO installments.”…

Snyder Says Superman Needs Development Before ‘Justice League’

Snyder Says Superman Needs Development Before ‘Justice League’
Steve Weintraub - Collider

While rumors have the movie being released in 2015, as of now, no director is officially attached, and no one is sure if the movie would work without introducing the other characters in their own movies first (like Marvel did before The Avengers).  So when I sat down with Snyder a few hours ago at the Los Angeles Man of Steel junket, I asked his thoughts the Justice League movie and if that would get his attention before a Man of Steel sequel.

And Snyder said:

“I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road before you can do a Justice League movie.”

Here’s the…

‘Pacific Rim’ Featurette: Robot Sets

‘Pacific Rim’ Featurette: Robot Sets

Man I’m telling you, this film looks like it has just enough plot to have an excuse to have big freakin’ giant robots battling aliens, smashing up cites, doing battle with boats as beating sticks (see the latest trailer) and in general crunching up big things as if they were small. That is to say I don’t detect a lot of movie here worth watching. I sure hope I’m wrong. I want to be wrong, but ever trailer, ever featurette, everything I see or can find out about this film is always talking about robots, the details of how or why they work or exsist, the sets, the technology, how it was done,…
