J.J. Abrams‘ new Star Trek movie is coming sooner than you expected. Paramount has moved the wide opening of Star Trek Into Darkness up a day, from Friday May 17 to Thursday May 16. IMAX theaters will still open the film on May 15, however, and it still opens overseas on May 9. But if you don’t live oversees or don’t have an IMAX theater nearby, you can see the film in 2D or 3D at your multiplex a day earlier.

My feelings about John Williams are well known by anyone who follows my work. If you are a fan of John Williams, and want to be angry at me, tune in to The MovieByte Podcast Episode 42 where Joe and I talked with Dan Benjamin a bit about this topic.

I have all sorts of fun Star Trek goodness collected over the weekend and Monday that I was not able to get up yesterday. So here it all is. I’ll just back the truck up to the dock and unload it all here.

One thing is for certain, they’re really cranking out the material and promoting this film like nobody’s business. I don’t remember any Star Trek movie ever getting this kind of promotion.
