‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2’ Trailer

‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2’ Trailer

Well, I can’t say that someone is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to post this trailer, but I wish that were the case, then I would feel better about the fact that I’m posting something this silly. But, you know, I feel like I should let you guys know about this film.

This looks so silly that I’m not sure I have any desire whatsoever to see this film. I never saw the first film for the same reason. I just went back and watched the trailer for the first film and I certainly remember why I didn’t see it. I feel the same way about this one. Still, if any of you crazy people are…

‘The Mortal Instruments’ Sneak Peak with Lily Collins (Video)

‘The Mortal Instruments’ Sneak Peak with Lily Collins (Video)

Lily Collins, actor in the upcoming fantasy flick The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, gives us a sneak peak at the upcoming fantasy drama. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, this looks like the missing link between Buffy, and Twilight. Frankly, I’d kind of rather see the Sara Michelle Gellar (holy cow, can you believe Buffy is 36 years old now? Has a slayer ever lived that long?), and the Buffy scooby gang back together with high, world ending stakes on the big screen (Dear Mr. Whedon, where do I send my money to make this happen?), but I love fantasy so I’ll take what I can… Read The Rest

Boba Fett Video from 1978

Boba Fett Video from 1978

It’s hard to imagine or remember a time when Boba Fett was not in the public consciousness, but this black and white video will help remind us. This video from 1978 is hosted by sound designer Ben Burtt, and it is basically a walkthrough of the character for the first time onscreen.

Boba Fett apparently made his first appearance in the Star Wars Holiday Special. I have never seen it, but apparently it is universally reviled. I just watched a few minutes of what I could find of it on YouTube and I can see why, it’s terrible (no really!). But apparently that was the world’s introduction to…

‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer 3

‘Pacific Rim’ Trailer 3

I’m finally getting the idea that Pacific Rim might be about people and not machines crashing it out. So much of the marketing material, trailers, promos and the like were geared toward big machines and mighty monsters crashing around, and there was no discernable evidence of a plot. More recently, the marketing has been shifting to focus on people and that makes me much happier. I didn’t want another mindless Transformers robot thing with different trappings.

Don’t get me wrong, the large scope, the machines, the crashing around is all still present, but that added human element to the…

‘Turbo’ Theatrical Trailer 2

‘Turbo’ Theatrical Trailer 2

Skepticism. That’s the one word that describes my state of mind in relationship to this film. It feels like they are trying to go for the same sort of charm as many of the Pixar films, and it certainly looks from here like it’s going to be a fail on that level.

I will be happy to be surprised and find out that it is good, but I’m not holding my breath. Also consider that these same filmmakers have put out Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, so this film’s greatness is not guaranteed in my estimatinon. On the other hand, this is also the team that put out Shrek and Shrek 2, two pretty great…

‘The Hobbit’ Skipping Comic-Con This Year - Video Blog

‘The Hobbit’ Skipping Comic-Con This Year - Video Blog

Last year, Peter Jackson unveiled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in HFR at Cinemacon. The response was not good. So a few months later at Comic-Con, Peter Jackson opted to not show any HFR or 3D at the presentation. So the question this year is, would Peter Jackson opt to show anything from The Desolation of Smaug? The answer appears to be no, for various stated reasons but one can only imagine that he wants to avoid the hullabaloo that he ran into yesteryear (I still think HFR is not the right way to improve quality).

But, he has unveiled a new video blog, with the first instlalment…

Behind the Scenes of ‘Pacific Rim’

Behind the Scenes of ‘Pacific Rim’

If you enjoy getting a peek behind the scenes of film sets, and if you are looking forward to Pacific Rim, then these two behinds the scenes videos are probably for you.

One thing is for sure, the massive size and scope of this film is apparent. As far as I’m concerned the jury is still out on whether that’s a good thing. As far as I can tell there’s not real plot details revealed here, but there’s lots of looks at cool stuff.

‘Man of Steel’ Kryptonian Tech Featurette

‘Man of Steel’ Kryptonian Tech Featurette

One of the more fascinating elements of Man of Steel was the technology used by the Kryptonians. It is, not surprisingly, unlike anything we use here on earth. Of any problems I may have had with the film, I actually like the look of the Kryptonian tech and the computers quite a bit, it was very imaginative and other-worldly, which is pretty much what you want. And it made at least a certain amount of sense.

It’s too bad there wasn’t a good movie to go along with such a great concept.

‘The Wolverine’ Featurette

‘The Wolverine’ Featurette

If you’re looking forward to The Wolverine, I’ve got a featurette here for you.

Much has been explored about Logan’s immortality, but now it seems they want to experiment a bit with something that’s more relatable to us as an audience: mortality. And of course, who knows to what extent these trailers and now this featurette is misleading us regarding Logan’s apparent inability to heal at some point in the film, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I think one of the great struggles for a character like Logan is that there is never any real danger to him. He’s going to…

‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Season 5 Blu-ray Trailer

‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ Season 5 Blu-ray Trailer

I’m telling you, I need to scrape some money together and start buying these Blu-rays. Star Trek: The Next Generation is one of my favorite TV shows ever, and the remastered HD episodes I have seen thus far are incredible.

Season 5 is also a really good season of the show. Season 3 really set the show on the right course after the lackluster seasons 1 and 2, and had some of the show’s best episodes. And it’s not that season 4 was bad, but season 5 really brought us another round of really great episodes just like season 3 did. My favorites from season 5 are:

  • Redemption, Pt 2…
