So perhaps you were going to skip over this one because TV spots are often little more than a remix of parts of the theatrical trailers we have already seen. Well, Man of Steel is breaking more rules than just the color of Perry White’s skin apparently because this new TV spot breaks the remix rule too. I have all sorts of fun Star Trek goodness collected over the weekend and Monday that I was not able to get up yesterday. So here it all is. I’ll just back the truck up to the dock and unload it all here.

One thing is for certain, they’re really cranking out the material and promoting this film like nobody’s business. I don’t remember any Star Trek movie ever getting this kind of promotion. Granted now that I’m running MovieByte I’m paying a little more attention, but I think we can safely say that the amount of promotion going into this exceeds anything we’ve see for Trek before.

I’m telling you what, if clips, trailers, and footage we have not yet seen keeps rolling out at this rate, I will have seen the entire film by the time May 17 gets here. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time so much stuff has come out in advance of a film.

Most of this stuff we’ve seen before, but there are a couple of new shots, particularly a really good view of the smoking starship (presumably the U.S.S. Vengeance) falling from the sky before the same saucer section crashing into buildings shot we’ve seen in several other trailers. New promos, clips, and other cools stuff coming out for Star Trek Into Darkness is getting to be an almost daily occurrence now. I mean really, how much more can they crank out without just releasing the film to bit torrent or something?

I know that the studios have to do everything they can to generate as much interest as they can, but I am a little bit frustrated at this point with the shear amount of footage that has been released. I feel like in order to keep up with the conversation I have to watch everything that comes out (that is officially released anyway), and yet I feel like…

Could this possibly be any good. Actually, it looks like it “could” though I don’t know if I’ll hold my breath or anything. But this sort of things can be fun when done right.

Somehow, I missed the first trailer for this film as this appears to be trailer number 2. Indeed, I haven’t heard much about it before now, but it looks like the film opens on June 28. It’s directed by Roland Emmerich and stars Channing Tatum (which makes me a little suspicious, but then again, Roland Emmerich… well, come to think of it, he has a couple of decent movies but nothing I’m overly fond of. Is it June 14 yet? This Man of Steel trailer makes me wish it was because I’m ready. This may be just a TV spot, but it looks like there’s footage here we haven’t seen yet so it’s worth checking out. And of course, this is Christoper Nolan behind the scenes on this one producing, with Zack Snyder directing so this film “should” be good, right?

Well, we’ll see but I’m expecting it to be good anyway.

The potential is here for a good film. The X-Men Universe sort of floundered a little with Bret Ratner’s version of X-Men: The Last Stand (which I pretty much reject as cannon by the way, I guess I’m in denial). The potential is also here for an awful film, and only time will tell us the story.

In the mean time, we can get the excitement fired up for this film by way of this CinemaCon trailer. The Wolverine will release on July 26, 2013 and is helmed by director James Mangold.

The Paramount marketing machine is churning something new out almost every day at this point. One almost gets the impression that they want this film to be big or something.
