‘Riddick’ Red Band Trailer

‘Riddick’ Red Band Trailer

I don’t often post red band trailers, but sometimes I feel it necessary if I’ve mentioned a film, especially more than once, that is upcoming that I have been interested in. I do it so you can be sure to know what you are in for in case you decide to go see it based on my interest.

Well, let me tell you, this trailer is a red band for a reason. There’s not a lot of language, just one F-bomb, but there’s a whole lot of gore and blood and the like. You’ll want to make sure you don’t have a weak stomach before you watch this one. And if you can’t handle the trailer, best not head to the theater…

Cobie Smulders joins ‘SHIELD’

Cobie Smulders joins ‘SHIELD’
James Hibberd - Entertainment Weekly

It’s official: Cobie Smulders is reprising her Avengers role in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In fact, the How I Met Your Mother star appears in the very first episode, re-teaming her with Clark Gregg’s resurrected Agent Coulson, in a pilot that’s been kept under wraps by the network.

“I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS SHIELD,” says the pilot’s writer-director Joss Whedon in a statement to EW. “She’s cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark’s. Also, if she’s in it I get to hang out with Cobie.”

I liked…

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Featuring Idris Elba

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ Featuring Idris Elba

Since I’m on a Pacific Rim roll this morning, I thought I would also post a trailer featuring one of the primary actors from Pacific Rim, Idris Elba. The film also stars Naomie Harris of Pirates of the Carribean, and Skyfall fame.

The film is slated for release in the U.K., I have no information on when/if it might be releasing in the U.S. but I would definitely be interested in watching it. It looks like it could be very good.

A chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of…

Speaking of ‘Pacific Rim’ - Fact or Fictional on the Robots

Speaking of ‘Pacific Rim’ - Fact or Fictional on the Robots

Wondering whether Guillermo del Toro’s robots are a possiblity? Fact or just fictional as it were? Well wonder no more because Veronica Belmont is here to answer the question for you. She’ll let us know if we’ll be able to pull something like this off in case of alien invasion or whether we’ll be completely left hung out to dry… grim prospects indeed.

‘Pacific Rim 2’ Would Feature Jaeger/Kaiju Hybrid

‘Pacific Rim 2’ Would Feature Jaeger/Kaiju Hybrid

It’s kind of looking like we may never see a second Pacific Rim since it’s doing far worse what what was expected, at least domestically. It’s doing a little better internationally. But I still say that profits so far are definitely a bit disappointing.

But if there is a second Pacific Rim film, a sequel, we might get to see some interesting things:

I’ll tell you a couple of things. We will have Gipsy 2.0 for sure. We will have Gipsy 2.0 for sure. Second thing is you’re gonna see a merging of Kaiju and Jaeger. And that is quite special.

Just think about it for a second. We sent Gipsy to…

Apple offers thousands of different Podcasts that are available via iTunes or its Podcasts iOS app [App Store].

Not really related to movies, but as a podcaster, and haivng podcasts here on MovieByte, it is of interest to me. 1 Billion subs is a lot. I think this podcast thing is going to catch on!

Kevin Feige Talks Thanos and Ultron

Kevin Feige Talks Thanos and Ultron

Here’s a scoop from the Marvel big boss, although, beware apparent minor(ish) spoilers for Thor: The Dark World. There’s definitely a bit about Loki that I wish I had not heard, but overall I doubt if it’s a very big deal.

So apparently Thanos will be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy as the mastermind. And as I’ve already mentioned briefly, Ultron will indeed first be seen in Avengers 2. I’m glad that Marvel seems to do a good job of knowing what things to keep in the cinematic universe, and what things are okay to tell differently than the comics.

Germain Lussier Describes ‘Days of Future Past’ Trailer from SDCC

Germain Lussier Describes ‘Days of Future Past’ Trailer from SDCC
Germain Lussier - /Film

Earlier this year, director Bryan Singer made headlines when he revealed the 2014 sequel to X-Men First ClassX-Men: Days of Future Past, would not only bring back the First Class cast, but most of the cast from the original trilogy too. That created all kinds of questions, even though many fans are familiar with the time travel storyline of the title.

So how do you get fans excited for a film that’s over a year away and still filming? You bring the whole cast to San Diego Comic-Con‘s Hall H and present a brand new trailer that lays out some of the story. That story shows Professor X…

‘Gravity’ Features High Intensity and Long Takes

‘Gravity’ Features High Intensity and Long Takes
Germain Lussier - /Film

Alfonso Cuaron both likes, and dislikes, the teaser trailer for his upcoming film Gravity. He told Hall H at Comic-Con a trailer full of explosions doesn’t really tell the true story of the movie. He said the movie is a very intense, emotional journey that puts the viewer in an immersive experience. Hopefully, that experience should make them feel like they’re floating in space. Plus, there’s no sound in space, so you can’t hear any explosions.

To illustrate, he showed a several minute long, long take featuring stars George Clooneyand Sandra Bullock at the moment where they realize this…

Loki Makes an Appearance at SDCC

Loki Makes an Appearance at SDCC

Kind of wish I were there. Of course, poor Tom Hiddleston could barely keep his character together, smiling, smirking, laughing and carrying on… and the audience loved it. Tom is a pretty cool fellow.

Enjoy.
