Bryan Singer Breaks Down the ‘Days of Future Past’ Trailer for us

Bryan Singer Breaks Down the ‘Days of Future Past’ Trailer for us
Angie Han - /Film

There was a lot to absorb in that first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Original trilogy X-Men were bumping up against First Class X-Men, new characters were showing up left and right, and the emotional arc was cresting just as action and mayhem broke out in both timelines.

Fortunately, director Bryan Singer is happy to guide fans through that jam-packed promo. “It really is what we wanted from the first look at the movie,” he said. Hit the jump for his commentary on some key moments.

Really looking forward to this film and so loving every minute of this! Great stuff, go check it…

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Ballooning Budget

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Ballooning Budget
Tatiana Siegel - The Hollywood Reporter

It’s not just the stakes that are higher as Katniss Everdeen returns to the arena for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. The budget is escalating as well. For its follow-up to last year’s hit The Hunger Games, which opens Nov. 22, Lionsgate upped the film’s budget from $78 million to north of $130 million.

Wow. That does not inspire confidence in me. That may be counter intuitive, but I often find that films with expanded and ballooned budgets are not better off for it. We’ll see, it does look pretty good.

5 Minutes of ‘Captain America 2’ Attached to *3D* ‘Thor 2’

5 Minutes of ‘Captain America 2’ Attached to *3D* ‘Thor 2’
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

With “Thor: The Dark World” headed to theaters around the world, Marvel has already tagged on the mandatory credits stinger and probably other little nerdtacular bits to teaser other things in the ever growing Marvel-verse. But there will be one more thing for dudes dressed up as Loki to cheer about: five minutes of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Whoa! Right? Well, hold up there, because it will also be shown during 3D screenings for the movie. Well done, Marvel, well done.

Ugh! I didn’t plan on seeing the film in 3D. I don’t want to see the film in 3D. Curse you, Marvel!

Batman vs. Superman in ‘The Lego Movie’ Pre-Trailer Trailer

Batman vs. Superman in ‘The Lego Movie’ Pre-Trailer Trailer

Alright, fine, I have to admit that I’ve been slowly warming up to this film. And yeah, I’m certainly looking forward to it more than the official Batman vs. Superman coming in 2015.

In this trailer, the competition between Superman and Batman hits an all time high as Batman finds new motivation to stay in character. I laughed so hard…

Unfortunately, the trailer referenced here actually comes out today since I’m late posting this, but I probably won’t be around to post the trailer. I’ll make sure it’s here on Friday.

Kevin Feige Explains Whedon’s Involvement in ‘Thor: The Dark World’

Kevin Feige Explains Whedon’s Involvement in ‘Thor: The Dark World’
Erik Davis - Movies.com

Leading up to the release of Thor: The Dark World, the Internet was abuzz with rumors that Joss Whedon was airlifted to the set of the Marvel sequel and dropped in like some kind of supersoldier in order to help fix scenes that weren’t working.

...

When we spoke to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige prior to Thor’s November 8 release, we asked him about those Whedon rumors in an effort to find out exactly what the Avengersdirector added to the movie.

“Some of Alan’s comments were taken out of context a bit,” Feige said. “Joss [Whedon] is focused one hundred percent—and has been for the…

No Podcast This Week

No Podcast This Week

Sorry guys. Just a quick note to let you know what was going on. I was not feeling great last night when Chad and I were planning to record, and I have a big deadline at work so I needed to get rested up. Unfortunately, for both of us this week, Wednesday evening was the only one that would work for both of us.

But that’s okay, even though I enjoyed the film we were going to review, it wasn’t spectacular so we’ll probably have just a few minutes discussion about it, then dive into the meat and potatoes of one of the films I’ve been looking forward to most in the next several weeks: Ender’s…

‘Ender’s Game’ Timeline

‘Ender’s Game’ Timeline
TOR.com

Lion’s Gate has just put out a timeline of humanity’s future history leading up to the events of Ender’s Game. It’s a very handy reference if you haven’t read the book. (Although a couple of things at the end are a bit spoiler so we’ve blotted those out.) Check it out below! Click the image to see the full-size (1 MB+) timeline.

This looks only slightly different from the book and I’m certainly not going to quibble with any of that.

Do be aware that though they blocked out spoilers at the very end, there is actually something of a big spoiler right in the middle, actually a bit near the…

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel ‘London Has Fallen’ is In the Works

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel ‘London Has Fallen’ is In the Works
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Gerard Butler! That’s right, the man who led “Olympus Has Fallen” this spring to a rather surprising $161 million worldwide (not bad for something on a $70 million budget, and a better ROI than the $204 million haul versus $150 million budget of “White House Down”) is back for “London Has Fallen.” LOL, OMG. Even better (worse?), Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell will return too, with everyone reprising their respective roles. So what, pray tell, is the plot? Well, it won’t be the president in danger this time.

Instead, the story will find the president…

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Trailer 2

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Trailer 2

I must make a confession: I have only seen one Martin Scorsese film — I absolutely loved it. That would be the Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta staring Goodfellas. Having loved that film so much, it seems a crime to me that I have not been exposed to more of his film. I therefore fully intend to see this film even though the trailers have not gotten me super pumped just yet. I’m actually not sure what I would have thought about a Goodfellas trailer before I had seen the film but I’m guessing about the same way I feel about The Wolf of Wall Street at this point: meh. So I’m willing to give this…

‘Back to the Future’ Improv

Are you a Back to the Future fan? (Chad is going to love this). Well have I got just the thing for you! Back to the Future street improv. Yeah, it’s cheesy and poorly acted, but who cares, right? It’s just good plain fun.
