Relativity Already Planning a Sequel for ‘The November Man’?

Relativity Already Planning a Sequel for ‘The November Man’?
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Quick! Tell me who stars in “The November Man,” what the plot is and when it opens! Nope, you can’t use IMDb. C’mon, try a bit harder than that, because Relativity really thinks you want to see this movie, to the point where they’ve already started work on a sequel.

Yep, after the film’s star Pierce Brosnan apparently spilled the beans on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” by saying, “ ‘The November Man’ is an iconic, tough character and I am excited to partner with Relativity to continue to bring him to life,” the studio confirmed (sorta cagily and not with the most forceful conviction)…

And it Exploded

And it Exploded

TJ, Chad, and Joe hop in the time machine and go back to 1999 to review the wonderful and zany ‘Galaxy Quest’. It may be a parody, but it’s one with heart and story, and one which all three enjoyed immensely. Highly recommended. Also up for discussion: the time has come for Chad to leave his full time co-host spot on the podcast due to other responsibilities. But don’t be sad, he’ll still be around. And in film news, Warer Bros. casts Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan the tiger, Robin Williams learns about hand drawn animation, we’ll get more President Coin in the films than the ‘Hunger Games’ book series, the original theatrical cuts of the ‘Star Wars’ trilogy are not likely to be released any time soon, and Robin Williams Daughter Zelda has left social media after being harassed in the wake of her father’s death.

Kaaahhhhhnnnn — Warner Bros. Casts Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan

Kaaahhhhhnnnn — Warner Bros. Casts Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan
Isaac Feldberg — We Got This Covered

Though Disney clearly has the lead in the race to adapt Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Bookinto a big-budget blockbuster, Warner Bros. is quietly moving along with its own take, now officially titled Jungle Book: Origins. Andy Serkis is making his directorial debut on the pic, after having served as Peter Jackson’s second unit director on the Hobbit trilogy. Now, the first voice lead for the film has been announced - Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch will be lending his voice to the fearsome tiger Shere Khan.

This casting choice is so perfect and so obvious I can’t believe I didn’t think…

Robin Williams “Learns” About Hand-Drawn Animation in ‘Back to Neverland’

Robin Williams “Learns” About Hand-Drawn Animation in ‘Back to Neverland’

You know, there is really something endearing about hand-drawn animation that I miss. I think maybe that was part of the charm of a film like Enchanted for me. But in any event, I found this gem via Peter Sciretta over at /Film. It’s a little film of Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite taking us on a tour of the different stages of animation of the day.

Viewing this has multiple layers for me. Even though Walter Cronkite had retired from the CBS Evening News by the time I came along into the world, he’s still a name that was known to me. He still appeared here and there (on into the 2000s…

“Star Wars must have blown his mind!” Honest Trailer for ‘The Winter Soldier’

“Star Wars must have blown his mind!” Honest Trailer for ‘The Winter Soldier’

Heil hard drive? How do the Honest Trailers guys keep doing this? I mean, I have a new favorite. Again.

I love how they freely admit that finding fault with this film is really nit-picky, and so they find fault with it anyway. Get ready for MAJOR SPOILERS though. But seriously, who hasn’t seen The Winter Solider? If you haven’t, shame on you! I mean, not a great plan.

Galaxy Quest — Review

4 of 5 stars
Galaxy Quest

We’ve decided to take a break from new films on this week’s episode of The MovieByte Podcast because JOE AND CHAD HAVE NEVER SEEN GALAXY QUEST! In what universe am I the one who has seen more films than someone else? It’s been long established that I have a lot of catching up to do.

This gave me the chance to watch the film again, and it still manages to surprise me for how good it is. Sure it’s not serious at all, but it is an almost perfect parody. From the moment the film begins with the cheesy scenes from an old TV show, you’re promised a lot of “not taking ourselves too seriously,” and…

There’s more President Coin in the Film Than the Books

There’s more President Coin in the Film Than the Books
Nina Terrero — Entertainment Weekly

Julianne Moore is a big fan of the Hunger Games series, so much so that she directly approached Mockingjay – Part 1 director Francis Lawrence about securing the role of President Alma Coin, the tenacious leader of District 13 who leads the revolution against the Capitol.

“She actually sort of tracked us down and had an interest in the books through her kids,” Lawrence says.

The Golden Globe winner’s interest acted as an audition, he notes.

“She didn’t audition. Once we knew she wanted it, that was it—done,” Lawrence says, laughing. “I sat down with her, she had great ideas, we got along…

Rian Johnson Claims ‘J.J.‘s ‘Star Wars VII’ Will Have Less CGI

Rian Johnson Claims ‘J.J.‘s ‘Star Wars VII’ Will Have Less CGI
Graeme McMillan — The Hollywood Reporter

As if videos from the set of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars movie featuring live-action alien costumes and full-scale X-Wing Fighters haven’t been enough of a clue, Rian Johnson, who will pick up the franchise after Abrams, says Star Wars: Episode VII will feature more practical, traditional effects.

“They’re doing so much practical building for this one. It’s awesome,” Johnson said on the latest Girls in Hoodies podcast. “I think people are coming back around to [practical effects]. It feels like there is sort of that gravity pulling us back toward it.

It’s Christmas in Star Wars land. I try not…

Ving Rhames to Return for ‘Mission: Impossible 5′

Ving Rhames to Return for ‘Mission: Impossible 5′
Chris Agar — Screen Rant

Mission: Impossible 5 director Christopher McQuarrie tweeted the following, saying that Rhames is coming back for the December 2015 sequel:

There’s no word yet on how sizable Rhames’ part will be, but it’s plausible that Stickell will be a key figure this time, given that the director is announcing the actor’s involvement. Typically, minor roles like the one Rhames had in Ghost Protocol are not the subject of much fanfare (prior to theatrical release,…

‘Star Trek 13’ First Draft Completed

‘Star Trek 13’ First Draft Completed
Anthony Viera — ScreenRant

With J.J. Abrams currently deep into directing Star Wars: Episode VII, Paramount has turned to Roberto Orci, co-writer and producer of Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness, to direct what we still only know as Star Trek 3, set to release in 2016 to coincide with the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

Oh, good grief. No, no, NO! This is the thirteenth Star Trek film, not the third.

Moving on…

Now, Orci has taken to the comments section of TrekMovie (via CBM) to report that they have finished the first draft of the Star Trek 3 script, saying first:

boborci:
