If, like me, you really don’t know much about Guardians of the Galaxy, Hal Rudnick and Co. have some great conversation on the subject for you. I found it fun and informative as someone who has no clue what this franchise even is.

The trailer, while a little strange — I mean really, a talking, gun weilding racoon, I’m supposed to take this seriously? — my curiosity has definitely been arroused and I’m excited to see what Marvel has in store for us!

It was inevitable after the huge success of Ride Along that Universal Pictures executives would be salivating to get the sequel together. Tim Story will direct Ride Along 2 and Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are closing to reprise their roles as the quick-witted security guard (Hart) who has his eye on his partner’s (Cube’s) sister. The film debuted five weeks ago on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend to bring in a record opening of $41.5M. It has since grossed more than $120M worldwide as of this weekend. Then The Lego Movie hit theaters, dominating the box office and earning stellar reviews besides. Suddenly, a Monster Trucks movie looks like a good idea. Such a good idea, in fact, that it’s begun casting, with Suburgatory‘s Jane Levy and X-Men: First Class‘s Lucas Till eyed for the leads.

No. Just no.

Meanwhile, with $197 million in the bank and counting, The Lego Movie is sure to get a follow-up. But the question Warner Bros. is pondering right now is whether to move ahead with both The Lego Movie 2 and the planned Ninjago spinoff, and if so, which one it wants to make first.

Rule number one, always be kind, polite, and courteous in interviews about a film you would like to promote if you don’t want to be considered a moron like Quentin Tarantino.

Okay, so he may not have come off that bad, but this interview does not make him look very good, and certainly not gracious. You’ve got to know that anchors like Emily Maitlis have a lot of stuff to go through. She may have been given talking points about the film, she may or may not have seen the film, Jonze has no way of knowing. So getting prickly because she’s asking the wrong, or to him slightly misleading…

Oh, and the part about watching it on your phone or iPad… yeah, don’t do that. I’m not even sure I’ll ever watch it again if I can’t watch it in theater.

Watching this trailer was… interesting. I don’t know what I was expecting from Guardians of the Galaxy, I don’t really have any preconceived notions of what it is since I am totally unfamiliar with it. But somehow I wasn’t really expecting this. It kind of appears to be straight up sci-fi, which strikes me as a little odd from what I was expecting.

South Carolina woman Kayla Michelle Finley was sent to jail last week for failing to return a copy of the Jennifer Lopez comedy Monster-in-Law that she’d rented nine years ago. Although the store where she originally picked up the tape, Dalton’s Video, has since shut down, the warrant for her arrest never expired.
