Sea Full of Monsters - What to See This Weekend

Sea Full of Monsters - What to See This Weekend

The sea is full of monsters, strippers, runaways, and drug dealers are teaming up, Matt Damon is trying to free us from a post-apocalyptic nightmarish future, planes are soaring through the air, and trailers are getting voiceovers this weekend! It’s a big one.

New This Weekend!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters — PG

It’s hard for me to have a good opinion since I still haven’t even seen the first one, a problem I intend to rectify this weekend because it does look interesting and I want to come to this film with the proper context. I won’t get to see this film until next weekend probably,…

Mark Strong or Bryan Cranston - Which One Should Play Lex Luthor?

Mark Strong or Bryan Cranston - Which One Should Play Lex Luthor?
Paul Shirey - JoBlo

While we all speculate on who will play the next Batman/Bruce Wayne, there’s one other character that is said to appear in Zack Snyder’s follow up to MAN OF STEEL, the untitled SUPERMAN/BATMAN film, and that’s Lex Luthor. Portrayed by Gene Hackman in the early Donner films and then by Kevin Spacey in Bryan Singer’s SUPERMAN RETURNS, the door is now open to bring in some fresh, bald blood and two names are popping up on the radar of late. The first is none other than Walter White himself, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston. His name has been circulating thanks to El Mayimbe at Latino Review and,…

Back to the Future Stars - Makeup Vs. Reality

Back to the Future Stars - Makeup Vs. Reality

There’s no question that Robert Zemeckis’ 1985 film, ‘Back to the Future’ is a classic. And what’s interesting now is that it is almost 30 years old, which is about how much time there was between 1955 and 1985, the two time periods the film takes place in. Obviously aging makeup was used on Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas Wilson when they were in 1985.

And now we can actually see how well the makeup artists did at making them look 30 years older than they were. I’ve found this comparison picture floating around and wanted to share it with you.

It appears the makeup artists may…

‘The Hollow Crown’ Trailer Featuring Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Irons and More!

‘The Hollow Crown’ Trailer Featuring Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Irons and More!

So, my wife may be the Shakespeare nut in my household, but I have to say I’m looking forward to seeing this one. This thing looks massive, and indeed, it runs over 500 minutes. It’s a BBC series adapted from four Shakespeare plays, Richard IIHenry IV, parts 1 and 2, and Henry V. And it has some pretty big names in it too. Sam Mendes is the producer behind the project, and it stars Tom hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Irons, and Ben Wishaw in primary roles.

The word Epic may be extremely overused these days, but I think the word can be pretty fairly applied to this one.

This being a…

‘The Counselor’ - New Trailer

‘The Counselor’ - New Trailer

Ridley Scott seems to be somewhat legendary, and he did make the likes of AlienBlade Runner, Gladiator, and Robin Hood to name a couple. That is why I’m interested in this film, although it does look pretty heavy and intense, and I’m not yet quite sure what it’s about exactly. But I’ll be keeping my eye on it.

The film stars Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz, and it will hit theaters on October 25th.

‘Captain Phillips’ Trailer 2

‘Captain Phillips’ Trailer 2

Definitely put me down in the interested camp for this film. It’s based on a true story, and it looks like Tom Hanks does a marvelous job!

Of course this trailer defnitely ups the action and the craziness a little bit, but it’s still looks like a film that’s low on CGI and much higher on story.

It opens in theaters on October 11th. Can’t wait to see it!

‘Her’ Trailer Staring Joaquin Phoenix, and Scarlett Johanson’s Voice

‘Her’ Trailer Staring Joaquin Phoenix, and Scarlett Johanson’s Voice

Okay, so, raise your hand if you think this looks really weird…

*raises hand*

Surely I can’t be the only one. I guess you could say the film is set in the future and is about a man that falls in love with his artificial intelligence OS. But I can’t even begin to describe it so you should just watch it. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Chris Pratt, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde and (the voice of) Scarlett Johansson.

‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ - 5 Minute Clip

‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ - 5 Minute Clip

It looks like Clary Fray (Lily Collins) is in for a rude awakening about the world around her in this 5 minute clip of a kitchen brawel with a demon from the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. I’m hoping this film is going to be good. The action is certainly intense, and it’s looking like they are doing some human drama and relationship building so I have somewhat high hopes for this film.

We’ll get to see it on August 21st.

Loki Might Appear in ‘Agents of SHIELD’

Loki Might Appear in ‘Agents of SHIELD’
Fred Topel - CraveOnline

After the “Hollow Crown” session, the TCA couldn’t help ask Hiddleston if he would be open to reprising his Thor and Avengers role of Loki in an episode of the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” series. Whedon told us yesterday that he would consider asking Marvel movie stars to do episodes if it makes sense for the story. Hiddleston agreed.

“It would be something that would depend upon script and story but yeah, of course,” said Hiddleston.

And this right after I said on the Podcast last night (episode coming up to be posted very soon this morning) that I didn’t think we would see much, if any, Marvel movie…

‘Thor: The Dark World’ U.K. Trailer

‘Thor: The Dark World’ U.K. Trailer

So it seems like Loki is going to play a pretty big part in this film. And Jane’s life is still in question, but Thor promises he’s going to find a way to save us all!

I didn’t think the first Thor film was that great, but I’m really looking forward to this one, it looks like it should be excellent. This will be the second installment in the Marvel, Phase Two story (the first was Iron Man 3) and it’s all leading up, of course, to The Avengers: The Age of Ultron, which I couldn’t be more excited about. This is a good time for Marvel!

Thor: The Dark World makes it’s debut on October 30th in…
