TJ and Chad discuss the latest in trailers, including ‘47 Ronin’, ‘Man of Tai Cih’, ‘Riddick’, ‘Thor: The Dark World’, ‘Agents of SHIELD’, and ‘Rush’. Obviously there’s lots to say and lots of opinions to be had here. Neither TJ nor Chad are holding out a lot of hope for the Keanu Reeves offerings. ‘Thor’ on the other hand is looking pretty good. There’s a big possible spoiler this week for ‘Avengers 2’ as well as some casting news involving James Spader as Ultron and Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Star Wars VII’. And TJ is worried about Pixar since Bob Peterson has been pulled from ‘The Good Dinosaur’ project. Kevin Spacey has a little bit to say about ‘House of Cards’ and the TV distribution model and TJ is all on board with that. And this week, the film in review is ‘Closed Circuit’ which wasn’t very good.

Everything is being recorded. Someone is always watching. You’re always under surveillance. You are just a pawn. Yada, yada, yada.

That’s what this film attempts to portray to you. That is what this film attempts to sell you on. The only problem is that it has this premise but then doesn’t quite know what to do with it. It’s sort of like a dog that chases a car: I’m sure the dog has no plans for what happens if he ever caught it. And that’s not unlike what’s going on here. They have this premise that they caught — they latched onto it and they have no idea what to do with it.

Anyway, I thought this was pretty fun.

In fact, I could really boil my thoughts on this whole thing down to one word: debauched. Miley has been on a quest for a while to shed her Disney girl image and let’s just say that she has succeeded. What I don’t understand is why would you want to be remembered as the disgusting and perverted girl? Well, in case anyone did before, I don’t think anyone now will every look at her is a good clean girl again.

And Miley has something to say about it. She says:

If you like Keanu Reeves, boy are you going to be happy with this. I’ve got two trailers here for you: Man of Tai Chi, and 47 Ronin.

Man of Tai Chi is Keanu Reeves directorial debut, and trust me when I say it looks absolutely terrible. I’d like to give the guy a chance as a directory, but honestly this just looks plain awful.

And I don’t know what it is with Reeves and these oriental marital arts things, but this second trailer is for 47 Ronin, which is very Japanese. I’m not sure what to think of this one. I have a little bit of a bad feeling about it but I like to keep a positive spirit…

Cumberbatch’s people told the New York Daily News in no uncertain terms that the Brit star would not appear in Episode VII. “There is no truth to the rumour Benedict has been cast in Star Wars,” said a spokesperson. “I think the rumours are circling because JJ and Benedict have just recently had a wonderful time working together on Star Trek.”

Well, I mean of course they do. And you know, we’ve never been lied to about these sorts of things, and certianly not where JJ Abrams and Bad Robot are concerened… (/sarcasm).

There is a glut of public-domain adaptations in the Hollywood pipelines, but The Fugitive directorAndrew Davis has one that might be worth keeping an eye on.  While doing press for The Fugitive‘s 20th anniversary Blu-ray release, Davis told CraveOnline, “I’m currently putting together a modern version of Treasure Island set in post Katrina Louisiana called Thieves Fortune.”  For those unfamiliar with the plot of Robert Louis Stevenson‘s 1883 novel, it centers on Jim Hawkins and a collection of odd characters, and their search for buried treasure on the eponymous island.  It’s perhaps the…

As we previously reported, rumors have been making their way around the web that Benedict Cumberbatch, the star of BBC’s Sherlock, may join the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Now, Badass Digest claims to have heard that Cumberbatch is up for the major role of a Sith villain, who will menace the series’ new protagonists throughout the trilogy.

Considering that Star Trek helmer J.J. Abrams is the man behind the new Star Wars installment, it’s not totally shocking that Cumberbatch might be at the top of the director’s shortlist for the part of a villain. After all, the British thesp knocked…

I haven’t posted about this film yet because I’m not really interested in it. I’m just not into race cars and the like and despite the fact that it looks like there may be a story here I can’t get into it. Still, I run a film site so I should publishing something about it, right?

I’ve been seeing the trailer for this film for a while both online and in theaters and I have to say, none of these are doing a lot for me to get me interested. But, I expect some of you will be interested in this film, so here you go.
