Killing An Avenger

Killing An Avenger

TJ chats with you about last weekend’s box office successes and faiures and which of those films deserved and/or didn’t deserve what it got. And there’s plenty of Marvel and Joss Whedon in the news. Kevin Feige over at Marvel seems to think we’ll be seeing more of The Hulk and Hawkeye around the Marvel universe. And we really want to know, will Joss Whedon kill off one of the Avengers? It’s a tricky proposition either way really, and TJ explains. The Chinese think that ‘Pacific Rim’ was nothing more than an American propaganda film. ‘Arrested Development’ is getting the silver screen treatment. TJ reviewed ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ and he did not like it! TJ also has a rumor that, if true, would be a fairly big spoiler for ‘Avengers 2’, make sure to listen for that! Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright have directed episodes of ‘House of Cards’ which will be airing next year. And of course, tune in to hear about what you might like to see this weekend!

‘Riddick’ Featurette

‘Riddick’ Featurette

This will be Riddick’s third visit to the cinema, and now we’ve got a little featurette here to keep whetting your appetite for the upcoming film.

I have not yet seen the first two installments in this franchise — a problem I intend to rectify very soon — but it certainly looks like it might be something I would like.

In this film, Riddick has been left for dead on what looks like an extremely hot and scorched planet. Thus he must fight for his survival against strange looking alien predators. The only way off is for Riddick to active his emergency beacon, but that will alert mercenaries to…

Kevin Spacey & Robin Wright Directed Episodes of ‘House of Cards’

Kevin Spacey & Robin Wright Directed Episodes of ‘House of Cards’
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

The Playlist has learned that while Fincher is still executive producing the show, he wasn’t able to get behind the camera for the next round and direct any episode (you’ll remember we heard this was likely going to be the case anyhow a few months ago). And while that may be a bummer, two of the stars have. Both Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright have helmed episodes of “House Of Cards.” It will be Spacey’s first venture calling the shots for the small screen, though he has two features under his belt: “Albino Alligator” and “Beyond The Sea.” As for Wright, it’s her first time ever directing,…

Where are the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Bonus Features?

Where are the ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Bonus Features?
Matt Wright - TrekMovie.com

When the details of the Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray discs were released last month, there was a big fan outcry wondering what happened to a fully loaded version with extras, like we got with Star Trek (2009)? The DVD version fared even worse, being a totally barebones release. Friend of TrekMovie, Bill Hunt from The Digital Bits, has that answer. It turns out that a plethora of bonus features do exist… it’s just that Paramount doesn’t want them all in one place. They are being used for retailer and digital download vendor exclusives.

Oh yeah, that’s a great way to do business: make…

James Spader Will Face Off Against The Avengers as Ultron!

James Spader Will Face Off Against The Avengers as Ultron!
Marvel.com

James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. The film comes to theaters on May 1, 2015.

Well there you have it. The original Dr. Danial Jackson will now take up the role of the major villain that The Avengers will have to face in the upcoming film Avengers: Age of Ultron. While this is worthy news, I don’t have a lot to say…

What to see: Weekend of August 30, 2013

What to see: Weekend of August 30, 2013

I’m sure you guys know that I don’t mention every single film that is available to you on a weekend. I try to hit the highlights of the films I feel are worth watching, or films I think are so bad, or are going to be so bad that I should draw your attention to them so you don’t waste your time on them. There are, of course, small time releases that would not be widely available that I often don’t mention. This week too, though, there are a couple films that I just don’t really want to mention in the context that I would mention the others you see below. Films like, PassionOne DirectionThe…

Rachel Hurd-Wood and Alex Pettyfer Up For Parts in ‘Star Wars Episode VII’

Rachel Hurd-Wood and Alex Pettyfer Up For Parts in ‘Star Wars Episode VII’
Kellvin Chavez - Latino Review

I know who went in for an audition to play the daughter of Princess Leia (and presumably Han Solo)…And got it confirmed via representation and other solid sources:

Rachel Hurd-Wood

Our sources told us that she went in for a read and, so far, was the only one that went in for the part. However, there will be other girls going for a read, meaning SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE ROLE YET!! We want to be very clear on that before it gets blown out of context.

Hurd-Wood is an English actress and model who isis known for her role as Wendy Darling in the 2003 film Peter Pan.

That’s not the only thing I…

RUMOR: Possible Big Spoiler for ‘Avengers 2’

RUMOR: Possible Big Spoiler for ‘Avengers 2’
Ain’t It Cool News

Now this is strictly a rumor, so take it as you will. If you couldn’t help yourself from clicking this article, but still don’t want this detail spoiled, here’s your last chance to flee…

Ok, it’s already been made clear that Ultron will be a product of Tony Stark and not Hank Pym in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, but now it looks like Ultron might just be Tony Stark’s robotic manservant Jarvis given sentience and gone out of control. Even better news is that it looks like Paul Bettany, the voice of Jarvis in all 3 IRON MAN films, may be back and voicing Ultron as…

‘47 Ronin’ Japanese Trailer

‘47 Ronin’ Japanese Trailer

I’ve got to be honest, I still have no idea what this film is really about. I barely have a high level overview of what it might be about, but it does look intriguing. And why not, I mean, the Japanese have been dominating the cinema this year. Mako Mori was a primary character in a pretty big film this year — Pacific Rim — and she was Japanese. And of course there’s The Woverine, featuring Japanese actors and Japanese culture very heavily. So, now we have 47 Ronin which will have quite a bit of Japanese themes in it, and we have here a Japanese version of the trailer.

It’s been a while…

Shadow Hunter

Shadow Hunter

This week, TJ hosts the show by himself and has all kinds of fun with all sorts of topics. Of course, as usual, there’s TrailerByte, taking a look at the latest film trailers, and TJ has lots of opinions on those. This week’s selection includes ‘Getaway’ staring Selena Gomez, Ethan Hawke, and Jon Voight, ‘The Book Thief’, which looks like an Oscar bid, the upcoming TV show ‘SHIELD’, ‘Thor: The Dark World’, ‘Divergent’, ‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer, a fan made ‘Man of Steel 2’ trailer, and a clip from the upcoming film ‘Riddick’ in which Riddick saves a puppy. And one of the rather large news items this week is Ben Affleck being cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming ‘Man of Steel 2’. Plus several items from Joss Whedon to discuss this week (as you do, you know, as a fanboy and all). And then there’s Hayley Atwell joining Kenneth Branagh’s live action ‘Cinderella’, which makes the film like mildly more interesting. And JJ plans to shoot ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ on film. This week’s primary review is ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’. TJ had a few choice things to say about just how bad this film is.
