TJ chats with you about last weekend’s box office successes and faiures and which of those films deserved and/or didn’t deserve what it got. And there’s plenty of Marvel and Joss Whedon in the news. Kevin Feige over at Marvel seems to think we’ll be seeing more of The Hulk and Hawkeye around the Marvel universe. And we really want to know, will Joss Whedon kill off one of the Avengers? It’s a tricky proposition either way really, and TJ explains. The Chinese think that ‘Pacific Rim’ was nothing more than an American propaganda film. ‘Arrested Development’ is getting the silver screen treatment. TJ reviewed ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ and he did not like it! TJ also has a rumor that, if true, would be a fairly big spoiler for ‘Avengers 2’, make sure to listen for that! The Playlist has learned that while Fincher is still executive producing the show, he wasn’t able to get behind the camera for the next round and direct any episode (you’ll remember we heard this was likely going to be the case anyhow a few months ago). When the details of the Star Trek Into Darkness Blu-ray discs were released last month, there was a big fan outcry wondering what happened to a fully loaded version with extras, like we got with Star Trek (2009)? James Spader will face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the sequel to 2012’s record-breaking “Marvel’s The Avengers.” The Emmy Award-winning actor will play Ultron in the Avengers’ much anticipated return to the big screen from writer/director Joss Whedon. I’ve got to be honest, I still have no idea what this film is really about. I barely have a high level overview of what it might be about, but it does look intriguing. And why not, I mean, the Japanese have been dominating the cinema this year. Mako Mori was a primary character in a pretty big film this year — Pacific Rim — and she was Japanese. And of course there’s The Woverine, featuring Japanese actors and Japanese culture very heavily. So, now we have 47 Ronin which will have quite a bit of Japanese themes in it, and we have here a Japanese version of the trailer.
