Warner Bros. Developing New Animated ‘Scooby Doo’ Feature

Warner Bros. Developing New Animated ‘Scooby Doo’ Feature
Russ Fischer - /Film

The success of the Smurfs films may be part of the reason for this new development at Warner Bros. — a new animated Scooby Doo film is in the works.

Atlas Entertainment is doing the heavy lifting, with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle — the same guys who prodded the live-action/CG hybrid films from the early ’00s — producing. Matt Lieberman is scripting. We don’t know the story, but there’ll probably be some mystery, the distant but unescapable sense that this is all a big drug-culture gag, and hopefully a few more nods to Dobie Gillis, the show that was originally a template for the…

‘Arrested Development’ Film

‘Arrested Development’ Film
Germain Lussier - /Film

For all you Arrested Development nuts:

Arrested Development season 4 ended on a pretty big cliffhanger. It was a bold move by creator Mitch Hurwitz because there was no guarantee the show, which had been off the air for seven years, would reconnect with audiences. Especially since the entire structure was radically different. But it did. Season 4 of Arrested Development was a big hit for Netflix and everyone wanted to bring it back, as long as Hurwitz had an idea.

The question became, would he make a movie like he had originally said years ago? Or would the show simply come back for…

Riddick Saves a Puppy? - Clip From the Upcoming Film

Riddick Saves a Puppy? - Clip From the Upcoming Film

I’m not sure this is the clip I would be putting out there for my big rough and tumble action film, but hey, I’m not a marketing genius, I just like to make cool things and talk about movies.

In this clip, Riddick is battling an extremely dangerous and ugly looking lethal alien monster, but near the end, he’s got time to save some strange looking alien puppy apparently.

The film opens on September the 6th.

Chinese Military Official Calls ‘Pacific Rim’ “American Propaganda

Chinese Military Official Calls ‘Pacific Rim’ “American Propaganda
Dominic Patten - Deadline.com

The Guillermo del Toro-directed robots vs. monsters movie may be doing monster box office in China, but an officer in the People’s Liberation Army is no fan. “Hollywood has always been the best American propaganda machine,” wrote Zhang Jieli late last week in a PLA Daily op-ed about Legendary Pictures-Warner Bros‘ Pacific Rim. The PLA Daily is an official China military publication. “The decisive battle against the monsters was deliberately set in South China Sea adjacent to Hong Kong,” Zhang wrote in the editorial, published Friday. “The intention was to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to…

‘Man of Steel 2’ Fan Made Trailer Is Really Good!

‘Man of Steel 2’ Fan Made Trailer Is Really Good!

The internet nearly exploded when it was announced that Ben Affleck was going to be taking over the dark suite, cape, and cowl. And it looks like the negativity certainly outweighed the positive feelings out there. And I have to say I’m not seeing it myself but I am perhaps somewhat willing to give it a chance.

Now we have a fan made trailer showing us the possibilities and all I can say is “wow!” No really, it’s really good. This actually makes me want to see the film, and I really did not like Man of Steel. Now granted, we don’t really get to see Affleck playing Batman of course, but this…

‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer

‘Captain Phillips’ International Trailer

What do you think of these days when you hear the word “piracy”? More than likely you think of some geek in his mom’s basement illegally downloading movies, TV shows, games, and whatnot. However, in Captain Phillips, the word pirate reverts back to its older and more chilling meaning. In 2009, Somali pirates captured the Mv Maersk Alabama. And now Paul Greengrass has set out to tell the tale.

For me at least, there’s alwasys something compelling about a good drama based on a true story, and that appears to be what we have here. I’m very much looking forward to this film.

This is an…

Morgan Freeman Was Surprised by Batman Announcement

Morgan Freeman Was Surprised by Batman Announcement
Bryan Alexander - USA TODAY

Someone forgot to brief The Dark Knight‘s Lucius Fox about Ben Affleck putting on the Batman suit.

Morgan Freeman, who played Bruce Wayne’s wise business partner in three Dark Knight movies, was surprised by the casting when speaking to USA TODAY on Monday morning.

“This is the first I am hearing of it,” said Freeman. “My first reactions are ‘Wow’ and ‘Good luck.’”

Freeman said he was surprised because the Dark Knight trilogy only ended in 2012 with The Dark Knight Rises.

Yeah well, he didn’t pay much attention to how they did this for the Spider-Man franchise did he? The spider suit…

‘Divergent’ Trailer

‘Divergent’ Trailer

Hey look, it’s another YA movie adaption trailer that TJ likes RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

No seriously, my track record here is terrible. That being said, this looks like perhaps it falls more on The Hunger Games side of things rather than the Mortal Instruments side of things. And yes, I really do like the look of this trailer, just like I liked the look of The Mortal Instruments trailer. I still contend that The Mortal Instruments would have been good if it had delivered on what the trailer promised. The same goes for this film. I like this trailer, I hope that the film it represents is a good…

Will Joss Whedon Kill Off An Avenger?

Will Joss Whedon Kill Off An Avenger?
Scott Johnson - ComicBook.com

Director Joss Whedon isn’t known to be shy about killing off characters in his movie and television projects. In fact, Whedon actually teased “death, death, and death” for the Avengers sequel during a recent question and answer session.

As part of a lengthy interview in the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, Joss Whedon addressed if he could actually kill off a Marvel icon. Whedon said, “I’m always joking about that. Um…maybe?”

Whedon added, “But I’d have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We’ll cut off a potential franchise, that’s…

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones — Review

1 of 5 stars
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I wanted to like this film. I really wanted to like this film… but…

This film had all the makings, the trappings of a good fantasy film. But it uses those good elements it has to very bad effect. It plays a bit too much like a parody of the fantasy genre — ineptly moving from story beat to story beat without ever drawing the audience in or making us feel a real connection to the film.

It’s no wonder that this book series, and now subsequently, this film series is being made. Look at the success of the Harry Potter franchise in both book and film form. And truth be told, there is definitely…
