‘Toy Story of Terror’ Short
Germain Lussier - /Film

Is Pixar making Toy Story 4It’s possible. But we now know they’re at least making a fourth Toy Story Toon, following in the steps of Hawaiian Vacation, Small Fry and Partysaurus Rex. The short is called Toy Story of Terror and will premiere on ABC this Halloween, making it Pixar’s first TV special.

For what it’s worth. The Toy Story shorts are usually pretty fun, and this will make the first time one of their shorts has been a TV special so that’s pretty fun too.

Here’s the short synopsis:

Bonnie is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk. Mom…

‘Into Darkness’ Performing Well Overseas

‘Into Darkness’ Performing Well Overseas
Amy Kaufman - Los Angeles Times

While the USS Enterprise has yet to conquer foreign galaxies, it is starting to pick up speed overseas.

Playing in seven foreign markets this weekend, J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness” collected $31.7 million, according to an estimate from distributor Paramount Pictures. The studio said the sequel performed about 70% better than the original did when it debuted in those same countries four years ago. The movie did well in locations like Germany and Australia but fared best in the United Kingdom, where it grossed $13.3 million.

The movie needs to fare well abroad if it is to…

Unknown Pixar Sequel in Development

Unknown Pixar Sequel in Development
Germain Lussier - /Film

Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger did a conference call with shareholders and one small piece of information he mentioned has yet to be discussed. Iger said that, over the next five years, Pixar has “fantastic original stories as well as some great sequels to their previous hits.” That’s “sequels,” plural, meaning there must be at least one more beyond Finding Dory. Read the full quote and speculate below.

I worry about Pixar because they seem to be getting “sequel-itis”, but at the same time, Iger did say they have “fantastic original stories” in development in addition to the sequels so…

The Great Gatsby Does Not Repeat the Past — Review

3 of 5 stars
The Great Gatsby Does Not Repeat the Past

“I wouldn’t ask too much of her, you can’t repeat the past”

“Can’t repeat the past? Why of course you can!”

Let me make a confession old sport: I have not read the book, the only thing I know about the story is from the 1974 film version staring Robert Redford. I really, REALLY did not like that film. But let me be clear, unless there are some fundamental differences between the book and both film portrayals I have seen thus far, I really do not like the story, or rather, the perspective that the story represents. It’s a rather subtle thing, actually. But before I get to that, let me…

Conspiracy Theorists Want to Know What S.H.I.E.L.D. Is

Conspiracy Theorists Want to Know What S.H.I.E.L.D. Is
Rising Tide

Who is s.H.I.E.L.D.? What are they hiding? Super-powers are real. Aliens exist. What else is out there? We will uncover the truth. We will not remain silent any longer.

So this is some fun viral marketing for the upcoming TV show Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. This site is supposed to be a group of conspiracy theorists who believe they have compelling evidence that S.H.I.E.L.D. is a thing and they will stop at nothing to discover the truth (as you do).

Who knows exactly how — if at all — this plays into the show, but it’s fun none-the-less.

Here are the videos they have posted to…

‘24’ Gets 12 New Episodes

‘24’ Gets 12 New Episodes
Michael Ausiello - TVLine

Fox has officially restarted the clock on 24.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed Monday during a conference call with reporters that the seminal Kiefer Sutherland thriller will be revived in May 2014 as a limited series event titled 24: Live Another Day.

Speaking of unprecedented (see previous article about Arrested Development).

“[It’s] 24 compressed over 12 weeks,” explained Reilly. “It will go chronologically over the day, but it will skip hours. It will be dictated by the plot.”

I’ve never watched 24, the concept never appealed to me. But I know the show has…

Arrested Development Season 4 Trailer

Arrested Development Season 4 Trailer

I know absolutely nothing about Arrested Development, but I’m posting this trailer because the story of how a season 4 has come to be is interesting. Until now it has practically been unheard of for a TV show to return after being canceled for several years. And yet, here we are, and Netflix is just breaking all the rules. It is definitely a very interesting phenomenon. What is especially interesting is that they were able to get the band back together. One of the most prominent reasons (at least the reasons given to us) why it is so hard to ever put a series back together is that getting…

Two ‘Man of Steel’ TV Spots

Two ‘Man of Steel’ TV Spots

Snyder has certainly taken a page from Nolan’s book on Man of Steel — well also the fact that Nolan is producing probably means something too — in regards to the shroud of secrecy, the cone of silence around the upcoming film. We look, and we beg, and we hope for crumbs and morsels of interesting tidbits, but they seem few and far between. I suppose that’s why I get a little excited with a trailer of any kind comes out, even if they are just short TV spots.

This first short TV spot from the U.K. seems to have a lot of action in it, and possibly just a wee tidbit of film we haven’t seen…

Kathleen Kennedy Says Episode VII Draws on Original
StarWars.com

“We’ve devoted serious time and attention to revisiting the origins of Star Wars as inspiration for our process on the new movie, and I’m thrilled that returning to the UK for production and utilizing the incredible talent there can be a part of that,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. “Speaking from my own longstanding connection to the UK with films like Raiders of the Lost ArkEmpire of the Sun and recently War Horse, it’s very exciting to be heading back.”

If there’s truth to this statement about revisiting the origins of Star Wars as being their inspiration, and it’s…

Reminder/Announcement: Live Broadcast on Tuesday at 7:30 PM

If you listened to last week’s episode of The MovieByte Podcast, you will hopefully have noted that the live broadcast of this week’s episode will be tomorrow at 7:30 PM Central Time (rather than the normal time on Wednesday) because I’ll be in the theater on Wednesday night seeing Star Trek, and Joe is out of town on vacation and would therefore not be able to do the podcast with a guest at the regular time. It is I who have to bring in a guest and I have to do it a day early. If you did not get a chance to listen to last week’s episode, or simply did not catch that fact toward the end of…
