Recommended Review of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’
Moisés Chiullan - Arthouse Cowboy

I’ve been a Trek fan since childhood, growing up on the original series in syndication alongside the then-new Star Trek: The Next Generation. I have arguments with friends about the franchise’s minutae on a regular basis. Episodes, performances, and critical iconic moments from the series mean more to me than many other touchstones of pop culture. My bond with this series is an essential part of the much deeper bond I had with my late brother.

He changed his mind all the time, but I feel it safe to say that my brother’s favorite movie was Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I watched it…

Preliminary ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Report

Preliminary ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Report

I’ll be writing my review later, but being the nerd that I am, I wanted to give a quick report on the new Star Trek film that we’ve all been so eagerly anticipating.

I purchased my IMAX 3D tickets a couple months ago as soon as they became available. I got what I consider to be one of the best seats in the house — about 3 rows up from the back in the dead center. I was not thrilled with the idea of seeing this film first in 3D, but at the time I believed that it would be the only way to see the film last night. As it turns out, I was mistaken as the general release was moved up to today…

Jimmy Olsen?

Jimmy Olsen?
Hugh Armitage - Digital Spy

Warner Bros has been rumored to be reimagining Superman’s best friend Jimmy Olsen as a woman for its reboot.

A source previously told Comic Book Movie that the character will actually be Jimmy Olsen’s sister and not a gender-swapped version of the classic character.

Warner Bros is yet to comment on which rumor about the character is true.

I’ve previously mentioned the possibility/likelihood of this back in January. I don’t have a lot of opinion to add except that I’m more or less ambivalent about it. As long as it’s a good character, well written, well acted, and well integrated, I…

‘Man of Steel’ Featurettes

‘Man of Steel’ Featurettes

Not a lot of new information here, or new clips or footage, but there’s a little bit and it’s worth checking these out if you can get past the Norton advertising at the top of each (word of caution, Norton is the virus, if you are using Windows, which I also don’t recommend, I REALLY recommend you find better anti-virus software).

So in any event, we learn about the Man of Steel’s strength, his flight, and his speed in these three clips, “cleverly” titled according to what each is about: Strength, Flight, and Speed.

As much as I was irritated by the complete reboot, and the complete…

‘Riddick’ Trailer

‘Riddick’ Trailer

I don’t know a lot about the Riddick series, this upcoming film is apparently the third in the live action series starring Vin Diesel. The dude is apparently a highly trained and skilled killer who had weird things done to his eye so he can see in the dark, he’s hard to contain, and sometimes seems to have no conscience. He’s a bit of an anti-hero apparently.

But he does appear to perform heroic actions sometimes, usually against his better judgement.

So I saw the trailer for the upcoming Riddick film and thought I might as well share it. If you are a fan of the Riddick series, enjoy.…

Two Clips from ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Two Clips from ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Even while the Marvel film universe is in full swing, this upcoming TV show hopes to show us another side, a glimpse into an alternative viewpoint of that universe. ABC has picked up the show as I’ve already mentioned on Monday, and we saw a the teaser trailer with that announcement, and now we’ve seen a full trailer.

So in the spirit of continued teasing and promotion, there are two new clips floating around that look pretty fun which expand on quick clips and scenes we’ve already seen in that trailer.

Is it fall yet?

“Someone really wanted our initials to spell out ‘SHIELD’”

YES! Joss Whedon humor! How I’ve missed that on a regular TV show. I’ll tell you what, I think this is going to be my go to TV show this fall. And man is this right up Joss’ alley. Intruige, mystery, and supernatural circumstances. I sure hope this show does well and has many, MANY seasons!

Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D.  He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to…
