Iran Threatening ‘Argo’ Lawsuit

Iran Threatening ‘Argo’ Lawsuit
Entertainment Weekly

Iran is planning to sue Hollywood over the Oscar-winning Argo because of the movie’s allegedly “unrealistic portrayal” of the country, Iranian media reported Tuesday.

Several news outlets, including the pro-reform Shargh daily, said French lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre is in Iran for talks with officials over how and where to file the lawsuit. She is also the lawyer for notorious Venezuelan-born terrorist Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, known as Carlos the Jackal.

Do I really need to tell you how I feel about this? Because my political views might start coming out, and would probably make a…

More to Cumberbatch ‘Star Trek’ Villain

More to Cumberbatch ‘Star Trek’ Villain
TrekMovie.com

Officially Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain in Star Trek Into Darkness has been identified as John Harrison, a “terrorist” from “within Starfleet.” But that hasn’t stopped speculation that there is more to him than that. And in an interview with the LA Times, co-writer/producer Damon Lindelof seems to confirm there is more to the character, even joking ““Benedict doesn’t even know who he’s playing.” More seriously, Lindelof explained why they are being tight-lipped about Harrison….

“The audience needs to have the same experience that the crew is having,” Lindelof explained. “You’re Kirk,…

Weta VFX Reel

Weta VFX Reel

So Weta Workshop has a VFX Reel, and it’s as awesome as you might imagine. Frankly, I’m not sure at this point why Weta needs a reel, everone knows who they are and that they do magnificient VFX work, but I suppose even the best feel the need to showcase their work for the world. And I love that they show some of the modeling and sculpting work that goes into all of it too. It’s not just the CGI, there a lot of other work that goes into their stuff too.

See for yourself.

Emma Watson Decides Not to Do Cinderella

Emma Watson Decides Not to Do Cinderella
Kevin Jagernauth - The Playlist

Variety’s Marc Graser tweeted this evening quite plainly: “Emma Watson has decided NOT to star in Disney’s CINDERELLA.” No reason for her exit, but it’s another bump in the road for Disney, who eager to get this movie in front of cameras this fall (and perhaps double eager following in the massive success of “Oz The Great And Powerful”). The film has already gone through one director, with Mark Romanek exiting the movie over differences about his cash and his vision for the movie. And while Kenneth Branagh is now set to direct, with Cate Blanchett still on board as the villain, the hunt is…

‘Oz’ Sequel Won’t Involve Dorothy

‘Oz’ Sequel Won’t Involve Dorothy
Russ Fischer - /Film

But producer Joe Roth says the Great and Powerful sequel “would absolutely not” involve Dorothy.

Roth said as much to the LA Times, and screenwriter Mitchell Kapner added “It’s 20 years before Dorothy arrives,” he said. “A lot can happen in that time.”

There’s a hint in Oz the Great and Powerful that one character seen in Kansas is related to Dorothy, with the suggestion being that she’ll eventually be the girl’s mother. From there it’s easy to guess that Disney was paving the way to introduce its own version of Dorothy. But that may have to wait for a third film, assuming such a thing…

‘Thor 2’ Trailer Attached to ‘Iron Man 3’

‘Thor 2’ Trailer Attached to ‘Iron Man 3’
Scott Johnson - ComicBook.com

However, what is really interesting about this Spanish promotional poster is the tagline at the bottom. The text at the bottom translates to say, “Also enjoy an exclusive preview of Thor The Dark World.” Since Iron Man 3 opens in some countries as early as April 26, 2013, it means fans will definitely see a Thor The Dark World trailer in April.

In the United States, Iron Man 3 doesn’t opens until May 3, 2013, so it might be May before U.S. fans get to see the Thor The Dark World trailer. However, it’s also possible that Disney might decide to release it early online like they did with…

Wednesday Live Broadcast Schedule

Wednesday Live Broadcast Schedule

Hey folks, here’s the TL;DR version: we’re going to be live broadcasting our weekly podcast tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM Central (3:00 Eastern) due to scheduling conflicts.

And the longer version…

We were looking for a guest to join me on the Podcast as Joe will not be available in the evening, but every single person we tried was unavailable. The only recourse, other than my monologuing the whole time (no), was to reschedule the live broadcast to the afternoon instead of evening. I don’t know how I’m going to get any other work done tomorrow with the interuption right in the middle of…

‘Star Trek “3”’ Could Be Out for 50th Anniversary (2016)

‘Star Trek “3”’ Could Be Out for 50th Anniversary (2016)
Germain Lussier - /Film

J.J. Abrams‘ first Star Trek movie was released in 2009 and it’s taken four years to get its sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, into theaters. With the director now moving on to Star Wars Episode VII, many have questioned will happen with the Trek franchise. Producer Bryan Burk has provided a possible answer.

...

Bryan Burk: We’re definitely talking about the next one, but we haven’t talked about a release date. We don’t want to wait four years, the same amount of time between the last one and this one, but it’s going to be a big year to celebrate, hopefully.

Hey, I have an idea,…

...

Another film from the studio has moved up, as well. The action/comedy sequel Red 2 was slated to open on August 2, but will now bow on July 19.

FYI.

I’m looking forward to both of these films and I hope shuffling the release dates around doesn’t confuse people. I suppose it shouldn’t. Most folks don’t pay too much…
