Balanced On The Back of a Turtle

Balanced On The Back of a Turtle

TJ wanted to discuss the new ‘Left Behind’ (starring Nicolas Cage), but since he was out sick, Joe Darnell and Michael Minkoff talk about the film and critique Christian arts at large. As the ‘Left Behind’ film’s description put it, “In a moment, the entire planet is plunged into darkness.” This says a lot about how lame the film is. We believe that true Christianity is largely not practiced by artists, and the Church doesn’t appreciate Christains that produce great art.

‘Stonehearst Asylum’ Trailer

‘Stonehearst Asylum’ Trailer

The fact that I haven’t heard about this film before now tells me it’s probably not any good. It’s also being positioned (at least a little) as a Halloween film — though it did not completely strike me as a film quite of the caliber. Still, I don’t completely trust it. But it does have some good actors in it and looked mildly diverting.

It stars Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Brendan Gleeson, Ben Kingsley, and Michael Caine and will debut in cinemas on October 24.

In hugely shocking news, a popular, marketable character from a smash hit film is being spun off into his own movie. Yep, it’s just another day in Hollywood, but still, this is pretty big news.

THR reports that Warner Bros. has put “Lego Batman” on the fast track. It will be a spinoff from the massive hit “The Lego Movie,” and finds Will Arnett reprising his role as the self-centered, sarcastic hero who always seems a little too good for whatever situation he finds himself in. His character was a lot of fun in the Christopher Miller and Phil Lord-directed film, and giving him his own…

The Maze Runner — Review

3 of 5 stars
The Maze Runner

I went to see The Maze Runner with no expectations. I saw a trailer two or three times in the last season that promoted this young adult (YA) dystopian sci-fi, but other than the trailers, I didn’t have prior knowledge of the film.

Dystopian flicks and novels work better this way. I like a movie I know little about.1 And if it’s in the YA category, it helps to keep an open mind and let the movie speak for itself. I’m not a young adult anymore, and sadly I’m finding it harder to relate to the fears and angst teenagers experience. However, a well-made movie can suck me into a story so that I…

Robert Downey Jr. Says ‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ Is Happening
Bruna Nessif — EOnline

Robert Downey Jr. may have backtracked on the idea that he’s willing to do Iron Man 4(sorry, Tony Stark fans!), but it looks like he’s serious about this one.

The actor participated in the ever-so-popular Reddit AMA yesterday to promote his upcoming film The Judge, and to answer a number of fans’ burning questions—like are we ever going to see a Sherlock Holmes 3 or what?!

“Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that’s a pretty tall order,” RDJ answered, “Also, Perry Mason is a property I’m looking forward to developing further, going back to…

Robert Downey Jr. Backtracks a Little on ‘Iron Man 4’

Robert Downey Jr. Backtracks a Little on ‘Iron Man 4’
Matt Goldberg — Collider

Yesterday on EllenRobert Downey Jr. said he and Marvel were in the middle of negotiations for Iron Man 4.  However, later that night, he went on The Late Show, and told David Letterman that not only is there no script, but when pressed to give a definitive answer on whether he would do the movie, Downey responded:

“Just between us, no — but I’m going to do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s going to be plenty of other fun stuff.”

He also said that Marvel does “have a plan, and I think they’re going to announce — they’re very secretive about…

Michael Dorn Talks ‘Captain Worf’ Series

Michael Dorn Talks ‘Captain Worf’ Series
Ronan O’Flaherty — TrekMovie.com

TrekMovie: Regarding the proposed ‘Captain Worf’ TV series, is there any update on that? Has there been any progress?

Michael Dorn: We have a script. We have idea. We have all the framework. But we are waiting for Paramount to say yes or no. Not in terms of doing it, but in terms of having to shoot something. Because if they say “no, you can’t do it” there is no need to keep going…So we are asking them, can we do this? Can we make money? Can we sell it as a pilot? And if they say “no, forget it,” then it’s over.

Yes, please! Who can I talk to over at paramount to make this happen. Look,…

Robert Downey Jr. Confirms ‘Iron Man 4’ Negotiations

Robert Downey Jr. Confirms ‘Iron Man 4’ Negotiations

He’s doing Iron Man 4. No, he’s not doing Iron Man 4. No, wait, he is. No, Marvel has no plans for a Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man 4. Blah blah blah.

There’s been a lot of back and forth on this, but now RDJ seemingly confirmed that he is in negotiations for a fourth film — which would indicate there are plans for one. I’ve personally always sort of thought there would be. It’s a pretty big cash cow for Marvel to not do anything with.

See the quick video where he sort kind of hems and haws then confirms it.

Sony Developing ‘Avengers’ Like ‘Robin Hood’ Franchise

Sony Developing ‘Avengers’ Like ‘Robin Hood’ Franchise
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Producer Michael De Luca has managed to get Sony to make a seven-figure deal for “Hood,” via a pitch from Cory Goodman (”Priest,” “The Last Witch Hunter”) and Jeremy Lott (”The Falling”). And as you might guess from the title (which isn’t to be confused with the project The Wachowskis tried to get moving a few years ago), this project will apply the superhero treatment to Robin Hood, Little John, Friar Tuck and Will Scarlett, creating an Avengers-esque, interconnected cinematic universe, with a tone said to be between “Mission: Impossible” and “Fast & Furious.” Lol.

LOL indeed. This sounds…

Sony’s Spider-Man To Enter the Marvel ‘Avengers’ Universe?

Sony’s Spider-Man To Enter the Marvel ‘Avengers’ Universe?
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Marvel has set the bar so high when it comes to creating and maintaining connected, expanding cinematic universes that you can either try to beat ‘em, or you can try to join ‘em. Recent rumors suggest that Sony, who are struggling to make fanboys and audiences happy with their “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise, might just be talking to the experts at Marvel about joining forces.

According to HitFix, the two studios are discussing an alliance that would not only re-energize “The Amazing Spider-Man” franchise, but would also connect Peter Parker and his milieu to the Marvel Cinematic…
