‘Ghostbusters 3’ Scheduled for Summer 2013?

‘Ghostbusters 3’ Scheduled for Summer 2013?
/Film

Could Ghostbusters 3 really, finally, at long last, be getting into gear? The long-awaited horror prequel was put in “suspended animation” earlier this year, but since this project never stays dead for long, it soon picked up a new writer to pen a fresh script. Now it looks like director Ivan Reitman, star Dan Aykroyd, and the studio are preparing to shoot next summer.

Hmm. I’m not convinced that the world needs more Ghostbusters but apparently studios and producers disagree with me. The world is a stupid place sometimes.

Taken 2: Please Take It Back — Review

Taken 2: Please Take It Back

If I were introducing Taken 2 to a friend, I would ask him, “Have you seen the first one?”

“Yes,” he might answer blankly. Then there would be an awkward pause.

“Well,” I would beg the question, “What did you think of it?”

“It’s alright,” he might answer halfheartedly. I would promptly nod in approval.

Then I would tell him plainly, “Okay, then Taken 2 wouldn’t work for you.”

How did we end up with Taken 2?

Taken had a certain unexpected intriguing simplicity. It’s the unanticipated adventure of Brian Mills, a very unassuming father that’s faced with post-retirement drudgery.…

Joss Whedon Responds to Cinematographer

Joss Whedon Responds to Cinematographer
Entertainment Weekly

When reached by EW, The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon responded: “I’m sorry to hear it, I’m a fan.”

Well, someone has more class here. Guess who looks like the better man here? Also:

Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, who shot The Avengers, shouldn’t be too put out, though. After all, he’s an Oscar-nominated director of photography who’s worked on films such as AtonementWe Need to Talk About Kevin, and the upcoming Kiera Knightley-starrer Anna Karenina. He’s currently slated to shoot 2014′s Godzilla remake.

So apparently his way of filming things is quite valid.

“What’s really important is storytelling. None of it matters if it doesn’t support the story,” said Pfister. “I thought The Avengers was an appalling film. They’d shoot from some odd angle and I’d think, why is the camera there? Oh, I see, because they spent half a million on the set and they have to show it off. It took me completely out of the movie. I was driven bonkers by that illogical form of storytelling.”

Please, can’t we all just get along. Because someone does something differently than another does not necessarily make it right or wrong. And in fact, I personally thought The…

‘Son of Ernest’ To Dishonor Jim Varney

‘Son of Ernest’ To Dishonor Jim Varney
/Film

Is there any character at this point that spans TV and film in the unusual way that Jim Varney‘s character Ernest P. Worrell did in the ’80s and ’90s? The seemingly bygone career of Larry the Cable Guy comes close, but Ernest has him beat. Ernest P. Worrell, played by Varney, began life as an ad pitchman thanks to the agency Carden and Cherry, then moved into his own TV show, and headlined a nine-film series. (OK, only five of those were theatrical releases. Still.)

Now John Cherry, the character’s creator and the man who directed most of the theatrical Ernest appearances, wants…

Spielberg Sent Script to Fake ‘Argo’ Production Company

Spielberg Sent Script to Fake ‘Argo’ Production Company
The Playlist - Indiewire.com

Recounting his mission on the CIA website (via Reddit), Mendez provides every detail you might want to know (including a scan of the original poster for the movie—see below), but he also notes that among the scripts that crossed the desk of the studio—that as far as everyone was concerned was real—was a submission by a guy named Steven Spielberg. Could it have been “E.T.,” which he would eventually make in 1981 (and release in 1982)? At the time, he was coming off “1941,” and while he would be filming “Raiders Of The Lost Ark” during when most of the events of the film took place, remember…

A Movie About a Fake Movie

In this episode, TJ is joined by Clark Douglas while Joseph is off on jury duty. TJ and Clark talk a lot about Clark’s radio show and podcast about film scores and soundtracks, Alan Silvestri and Clark’s recent highlighting of his work, what it’s like to be a radio station manager, Hans Zimmer and his approach to film scoring, some of Clark’s favorite composers such as John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and more, as well as some geeky discussion of Star Trek and Star Trek Scores, and then TJ and Clark talk about their differences of opinion on John Williams. They then briefly discuss a couple of quick things from Clark’s interview on Movieology. After this they turn their attention to a couple of films. TJ briefly discusses Taken 2, which Clark has not seen. It is simply not as good as the original Taken and was very disappointing to TJ. And finally, they discuss the fine film Argo, Ben Affleck’s career, the great acting in the film, the great story telling and more.

The break-up frenzy that upended Glee earlier this month appears to be spreading to Bones.

On the heels of Sweets and Daisy’s sad split, fresh evidence has emerged that strongly suggests the long-running drama is about to drive a wedge between Angela and Hodgins too!

“Everything that came together in Season 7 is going to fall apart in Season 8,” exec producer Stephen Nathan reveals in the latest installment of Fox’s “Breakfast with Bones” video series. Adds series creator Hart Hanson: “A good template for the [season is], ‘Let’s test everybody who’s in love.’”

You may remember that…
