Showrunner Bruce Heller revealed that a “prenatal Robin” storyline is in the works for Gotham. Also coming in a future episode is the return of the pint-sized Poison Ivy — though her BFF Harley Quinn will be sitting this season out.

Speaking to EW, Heller revealed his approach to Robin. “We’re going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line,” Heller said. “There are no MRIs involved. There’s an episode coming up where we learn how Robin’s parents got together.”

I checked into this show because, you know, why not. I didn’t expect it to like it much or for it to be particularly…

Thai Cinema Chain Pulls ‘Mockingjay’ On Account of the 3-Finger Salute
Ariana Bacle — Entertainment Weekly

Had tickets to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 in Thailand? You might be seeing a Woody Allen film instead.

Apex, a Thai cinema chain, was scheduled to begin showing the Hunger Games movie Thursday, but decided to pull the film from two of its theaters and replace it with Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight.
The decision comes on the heels of a government event where five students were detained after flashing T-shirts with protest messages and giving the three finger salute—the same salute Katniss gives in The Hunger Games to represent her district, and the salute Thai protesters took…

Sonny Pictures Drops Steve Jobs Biopic

Sonny Pictures Drops Steve Jobs Biopic
Dave McNary — Variety

Sony Pictures has surprisingly ditched its Steve Jobs project, putting the high-profile feature into turnaround.

The studio had no comment on the story.

An informed source said that Universal was likely to make a deal for the biopic.

In recent weeks, producers had set Michael Fassbender to star as the late Apple mogul after Christian Bale dropped out. Seth Rogen is also in talks to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Sure, another studio could pick it up, but this sounds like a death knell for the film. It has certainly been a bumpy ride, starts and stops, troulbed production, high…

Daniel Bruhl Joins ‘Captain America 3’
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

The studio announced today that Daniel Bruhl has joined the cast of “Captain America: Civil War.” The actor is likely best known for his turns in “Good Bye Lenin!,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” Quentin Tarantino‘s “Inglourious Basterds,” and Ron Howard‘s “Rush.” In both foreign and Hollywood films he’s always a welcome presence, but who will he play here?

Well, Marvel isn’t saying (though Deadline reports Bruhl will take a villain role), so we’re going to leave it you to guess below. But remember, this third installment of the ‘Captain America’ franchise will likely see Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers…

Christopher Nolan Responds to Sound Issues with ‘Interstellar’

Christopher Nolan Responds to Sound Issues with ‘Interstellar’
Carolyn Giardina — The Hollywood Reporter

“I’ve always loved films that approach sound in an impressionistic way and that is an unusual approach for a mainstream blockbuster, but I feel it’s the right approach for this experiential film,” Christopher Nolan said, speaking for the first time in detail about the use of sound in his new film Interstellar.

Describing his approach to the movie’s sound mix as “adventurous and creative,” Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview Friday, “Many of the filmmakers I’ve admired over the years have used sound in bold and adventurous ways. I don’t agree with the idea that you can only…

James Gunn is Talking About a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trilogy

James Gunn is Talking About a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trilogy
Angie Han — /Film

James Gunn was set to return for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 before Guardians of the Galaxy 1 even opened. But it seems his vision extends even beyond that. In a new interview he reveals he’s already been thinking about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and has been since he was working on the first one.

I think it’s good that he has the story in his head and they’re not just making more because of money.

If Gunn really has plans for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 worked out in his head, and if Marvel really lets him bring them to fruition, it could make the Guardians of the Galaxy series a bit…

Playmobil Has Its Own Toy Movie Coming in 2017
Kevin Jagernauth — The Playlist

Playmobil, that other company that made childhood figurines and action playsets, managed to get ON Entertainment, Wild Bunch and Pathe to throw $80 million towards a feature film. Bob Persichetti (“Monsters vs. Aliens,” “Shrek 2,” “Puss in Boots,” “The Little Prince”) is going to guide the project, bringing in the production team of the latter to get this moving. Production will take place in Montreal, and the movie will hit in 2017.

This is not going to end well, mark my words.

Johnny Rockets, a chain restaurant whose specialty is heaping nostalgia with a side of burgers, wants you to watch movies like it’s 1959. The company has announced a partnership with USA Drive-ins to open Johnny Rockets drive-throughs with their drive-ins.

BusinessWeek reports USA Drive-ins plans to open 200 drive-in theaters by 2018, many of which will have an accompanying Johnny Rockets drive-through. Moviegoers will be able to either walk up to the counter to get their food, or have it delivered to them in their cars. (“No carhops on roller skates, though,” notes BusinessWeek.) Each…

Matt Damon Confirms Return to ‘Bourne’ Franchise with Paul Greengrass

Matt Damon Confirms Return to ‘Bourne’ Franchise with Paul Greengrass
Mike Vulpo — Eonline

“Yes, next year,” Damon responded to E! News when asked for clarification. “It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”

The plans that have been bandied about were that Damon and Greengrass would do this fifth Bourne film to release sometime in 2016, followed at some point by another Jeremy Renner led spinnoff. Those were unconfirmed reports at least until now. So the Damon and Greengrass part is true at least. I really hope they just drop the whole Aaron…

During their earnings call with investors this afternoon, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced “Toy Story 4” will arrive on June 16th, 2017. But perhaps more intriguing is that John Lasseter—now chief creative officer at Pixar,Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios (as well asWalt Disney Imagineering)—is going to direct. It will be his first movie since 2011’s “Cars 2,” and will mark a return the franchise after helming “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2” (Lee Unkrich, who served in various capacities on the earlier “Toy Story” movies, directed “Toy Story 3;” he’s currently at work on the…
